Because it reads into verses out of context, and if its not in the text its not in the text. Theres is NO verse in the OT that says the Messiah will come to die for you. Theres NO VERSE thst says he will be the son of G-d. Theres NO VERSE that says you should worship the Messiah as equal to G-d. Apply the same scrutiny that you apply to other denominations of Chrxstianity to the Jewish Hebrew Scriptures vs The Greek New Testament. They absolutely do not comport with each other.

@@jesuschrististhelord9937 Daniel 7 :13 -14 talks about the son of man coming from the clouds. The term son of man is used something like 80 times in the Chrxstian bible. Daniel was a great prophet. But what is the concept and context of this verse? It never says "THE son of man" it says "LIKE A son of man" and not only do Chrxstians mistranslate this verse, their bible writes "a Son of man." They capitalize it. Theres no capital letters in Hebrew.. But more importantly in Numbers 23 it says "G-d is not a man nor is he a (son of man)". So how can you justify calling jesus the "son of man" and calling him "G-d" too?
Mel Gibson/Colbert claim in the video above that jesus decended into hell, but in the New Testament in Luke 23:43 it says jesus told one of the other men also being crucified "i tell you, surely you will be with me (TODAY) in PARADISE" is Hell Paradise? No. Theres so many problems and contradictions in the Chrxstian bible that i could never consider it the word of G-d.

Just making The Passion .awesome his whole career worthwhile. I know it has its critics but it is very true to the New Testament, specifically the books of John and Matthew from what Gibson said back in 2004. Bringing the story of how humanity was reconciled with God to the big screen where many non believers may have seen the Passion and hopefully changed their beliefs, even if it was one person, is worth all the work it took to make that movie

Mel Gibson is AMAZING. The Passion of the Christ is one of the best and most heart breaking movies ever made. Jim C blessed me by portraying the Son of God. When I heard the Resurrection is going to happen it made me cry. Mel Gibson God bless you.
It's not just a movie Shannon. It really happened. He died for us. How beautiful is that.
It was a very realistic movie and very well made, but he should have toned down the violence. I've never been able to watch it a second time. There were some scenes in the movie not from the Bible, but I'll give him a pass on that. One thing is for sure, once you've seen it you'll never forget it.

@@stpatrick614 Yes, but the scourging scene was way over the top and too long and graphic. I'll give you an example. The torturer is shown with a whip that cuts Jesus' back. Then he picks up another type of whip that has pieces of metal. He then proceeds to smack the whip against a wooden table and struggles a bit to pull out the whip as it gouges the wood. Now as a viewer we know what this particular whip will do to human flesh based on the damage it did to the table. Then we see exactly what it did several times to Christ's back. That was totally unnecessary. We didn't need to see it. We could imagine what it did.

Apocalypto is still one of the most underrated movies to this day, IMHO. If any other director had done it, it would have instantly been declared a masterpiece. But, because it was Mel Gibson, it hardly got any recognition at all, let alone the accolades it deserved.
Agreed. That film is poignant, brilliant, and intense from beginning to end. Mel hates Jews and said some crazy shit a few years back, but it doesn't take away from his awe-inspiring ability as a director and unparalleled gravitas as an actor. Still one of top my favorite actors of all time.

i don´t know, it just seems that more research needed to go into the maya civilization. I know it wouldn´t go with the film, but to just see some of the daily life of a maya would be fascinating. That and the maya were never as brutal as they were depicted in the film. It would´ve fit the aztecs more.

I’m not religious, but I’m so pumped for The Resurrection. I really admire The Passion it’s one of the most visually stunning films I’ve ever seen, the acting is incredible, the makeup and special effects are frighteningly realistic, and the music is so haunting. I can’t wait to see another round of that, and from what Mel’s been saying it sounds like it’s gonna be dialed up to 11.

I came across one of Mel Gibson's earlier films called "Tim" about a young man with developmental disabilities who falls in love with an older woman actress Piper Laurie. The film was filmed in Australia. A beautiful film. I loved his "Passion Of The Christ" and can't wait for the sequel.
