Duide... I never comment on these design vids, but with yours - I just had to. What a great resource, especially for those who are new to this! I am a "real gun" gunsmith, and have just recently gotten into the whole DIY airgun thing. These concepts... just great. They are clear, fundamentally sound, and easy to understand. Some of the stuff I knew already, but could not have explained so effectively. Other things were new to me, and I highly appreaciate your putting the information out there!
I just finished my first airgun. It's a ball valve contraption, works pretty well, VERY powerful... but plan on definitely upping the quality on my next project. Your video will be an enormous help with that.
Kudos to you, and THANKS VERY MUCH!

thanks again, for the great ideas. The magazine desgins helped me a bit, I was hust going to go with a gravity feed one, but now I thing I'm going to go with a spring feed bottom style mag. My Air tank will be a modded fire extinquisher, the magazine will likly be a spent 12g Co2 cartridge with the top drilled out to allow steel bb's to fit in it, the barrel will be a .177cal rifled airgun barrel from a crosman 760 pumpmaster. The extinquisher has been pressure tested and the max is 500psi's.

Perfect! I really liked how you gave the audience selectivity on the rifle - going to model this in Sketchup now and see how it all fits!

For the trigger ( a ball valve ), you should put a spring so that when you pull it, it will go back. If you just pull it with out the spring, all the air will come out and then you have to pump it again. Also, it will be a good idea to put a pump attached to it so that when you shoot and the trigger comes back, you can pump it once to fill in the air again cuz the pressure becomes weaker. It will be like you are cocking a gun too.

i see yr point :) I was pretty amazed at u can point out whr the problem is at such a quick glance. probably another valve(ball valve or QEV) might b suitable. However tht idea is for those who use hand pump to compress air(like me..) which might increase their efficiency. Wit little pressure produce greater power.thx again,Mr rooster :)

about the semi-auto part, probably u need an CO2 tank or compressor with regulator to accomplish it. Speaking of the magazine, since the ammo fit the barrel tightly, there was no room for others. Plus i also use mobile obstacle or metal plate to hold the ammo in case more than one ammo in the barrel esp. ball shape ammo.
PS: metal plate also need to avoid air leaking which might reduce yr airgun power.
    thx 4 yr sharing :)

if you want to know how to attach the valve to the gun, you'd want to use a strong epoxy liek araldite, drill a hole in the chamber and glue it in. I don't have an air compressor so I don't know how it attatches to a valve, but I assume it would be fairly self explanatory.

@chopperboy971 u use something that is a tight squeez in the barrel so then when its stuck the air will have no choice but to gain extreme strength and blow the projectile out of the barrel and to hell lol but if its too tight lit could blow up so be carefull

at 3:03 : nice idea but it wont work (maybe at very low pressure). as more pressure you put into the tank the harder it become to push the piston back, particularly at a piston of this size.

u have a major flaw with the magazines...if the spring gives it pressure then after the 1 shot the ammo moves out of position the 2nd one will fly in and make it fly out with the 1st causing u to waste ammo...SO! do it like a paintball gun have a very flexible piece of plastic to stop the ammo front and back....sorry i cant describe well my vocabulary is limited

HOwever, some of you might already noticed with the same amount of air pressure with different kind of chamber(PLASTIC vs. PVC or metal). The plastic bottle is much more powerful then the others. Probably it's bcoz of its "elasticity" which play a great role in this circumstance. but plastic bottle couldnt hold tht much pressure, thts why i came out chamber with spring in advanced version. thx for yr sharing

thx..about the magazine, u can use a barrier or plate to close it(avoid air leak) which been shown in the end of this vid.
PS: Better choose bigger CO2 tank wit longer barrel :)

In my basement. It really isn't that hard but for you i'm not sure. In the winter I fill it with boiling hot water and shoot it up in the air when the temparature is below freezing. Then the hot water turns into a cloud. Which then floats across the yard. If a car drives by they stop to l@@k.
