    For anybody doing this at home I would recommend adding some pvc glue on the inside of the pvc before clamping it flat, this would help hold it down when you reheat it and just generally strengthen the bow.

    Make Detanator Bolts *Exploded When pressured much*
    Ingredients
    SD Alcohol 40-B
    Fragrance
    Black powder (From Fireworks)
    Ethyal Acid 70% (Burning power) If 80+ it will explode much like a granade
    Most important use the lighter striker from the end of the lighter
    Connect it to the black powder for Detanating the other ingredients

    since you have a band saw, one suggestion i'd make to get more consistent bows from pvc would be to cut out a wooden form form a 2x4. both halves can be clamped onto the bow at the same time forcing the plastic into the proper shape.

    • @jonathanboucher9500
      @jonathanboucher9500 6 років тому +1

      You can pre stretch it if you mesure out the exact length you need. Thats what we do for compound string.
      Put it under tension with a ratchet strap over night and that should remove most stretching. Do a practice run before to see how much it stretch.

    great video! i did make PVC long bow. instead wasting time for the PVC to cool off, splash some cold water and continue to the next section. thanks, i like the crossbow. i may use s thick teflon knife board to get it even lighter or sandwich two together. wood tend to warp in time; substitute PVC with thin teflon cutting board for the bow in two separate bow section. you have great idea for my crossbow refindment.

    When I was about 10 years old my dad made me a crossbow and I used pegs as ammo, u know the stuff u hang washing out with. Anyway I was playing with it in the street when my neighbors son came out and started throwing rocks at me. I shot a peg at him and hit his leg the peg went so slow and wouldn't have hurt at all. 20 minuets later the police were at my door saying there was a report that a man was out shooting kids with a hunting crossbow. Like wtf I was 10 years old and the thing shot blunt pegs

    @hanelyp1 6 років тому

    A couple criticisms about the bow design:
    - Bows work better if they're stiffer near the center and more flexible on the limbs. For PVC bows this is commonly done by leaving the center less or not compressed, tapering to full compression at the tips. This will also increase the draw weight without needing the secondary bow. With even flexibility the bow will bend mostly at the center.
    - Those mounting holes look like a stress concentrator. Cord wrapped around the bow can attach it without these holes.
