It really rolls off the tongue too. Fans get to keep calling it the 2, and every direct after its release will be all like: “Coming next May for the Nintendo Switch 2.0 system.” And we all laugh but roll with it because it’s Nintendo.

Okay we need to speculate about what color it’s going to be marketed with. When the switch was announced there was a grey one and the neon one a test to see what people would prefer after WiiU. Are we going back to black and white because of the amount of grey around also so it appeals to an older audience or are they going to continue to embrace color and bring back the transparent colors they had in the 90’s. Let’s start talking about that.
My idea of how the presentation of the successor to the switch will be is: It starts with a normal Nintendo Direct and they start by the branding of the Switch and that is the click of the joycon but instead of starting the presentation it lingers on the Logo of the Switch and then a 2 starts being drawn from the bottom.
The SNES was the same situation, it's just the NES but with Super in front. If it isn't the Super Nintendo Switch I will be very surprised. i really want the old super famicom color scheme.
37:07 i think it means that they specifically cannot connect to the switch, they release this joycon charger so that you can still use and charge your joycons without needing a switch to dock them on. which i think even further confirms the magnetic new joycon2 design (which imo was already very confirmed)
We honestly wouldnt want the next console to natively run anything in 4k those carts/ downloads would be horrible on a system that will likely need extra storage with 4k textures.
Nintendo has never done a PS4 with "download after inserting the disc" and I dont think they would. Even if they have native 4K, remember that tech has advanced since the seitch was released, and even since the ps5 and XSX came out. Nintendo is also much, _much_ better at optimising their games [compare Botw's file size to _any_ game on PS4 at all]
@@fgvcosmic6752 i know some devs have actually had problems with this because of the pricing of the switches carts to where they have to go digital or have a download to go with the cartridge because if they sell for a lower price they will lose money per cartridge. It also had bug fixes along with it but iirc bdsp had part of the game needing download day 1
Also, to add to the other commenters point, even with very well optimized file sizes, I doubt they will put in much in the way of 4k textures, the switch will have dlss after all, which if you’ve ever used an nvidia graphics card you’ll know that it’s honestly really good compared to the upscaler that other consoles use (including the current switch), which is fsr
I feel like it'll have a VR mode, so my name is Nintendo HalfDepth (without the Switch title) which could be abbreviated as Nintendo HD because it's the highest quality Nintendo console
As for the branding point, the New 3DS is listed on the Nintendo website as "New Nintendo 3DS", so even in recent memory the brand name didn't need to come first. Super Nintendo Switch is my hope and dream
Just so you know, the games would need a patch and the upscaling hardware would be inside of the chip rather than be from the dock. DLSS uses motion vectors requiring it to be patched in, and AI tensor cores would need to be inside of the console itself because the latency would be too high between the dock and the console
I don't think EVERY game will be $70. While not perfect with it, Nintendo has shown a willingness to let certain games be $50 or as low as $40 (Metroid Prime remastered) in the Switch generation. They have alot more range with their titles than Sony and MS do, since they do make smaller games along with big ones. I think the HUGE hitters like 3D Zelda, 3D Mario, Mariokart, and maybe Pokémon will transition to $70 over the life of the Switch 2, but i just don't think they can justify it for their other games. Like there's no way the next "Warioware" is gonna be $70, you know?
We already live in a world where Metroid Prime Remastered costs 40 bucks but games like WarioWare and NSMBU cost 60. Given the opportunity they will charge 70$ just because they can. The only reason Prime is 40$ is because they want to make you a Metroid fan and set you up to pay 70$ for Prime 4.
@Alaneeeeee to get to that, I don't think that's the case. While yes, they TECHNICALLY "just could", I don't think they will. Having options of prices would be far more beneficial to them, especially since it seems like Nintendo is one of the very few video game companies that understands you need to make things affordable (cough PS5 pro cough). Hence why they make underpowered hardware. Furthermore, certain titles just don't cost/take that long to make. Like, let's take the Mario Sports titles. It's relatively obvious those don't take long to develop, AND they don't require the most "cutting edge graphics" or anything. Nintendo doesn't need to "forward the development costs" on games like that to the consumer, meaning a Mario Sport game shouldn't cost $70. That's what I'm trying to get across in my initial comment. That the big titles will be $70 (long development ones), average titles will probably still be $60, and lesser titles will be $50 and below. Unlike most companies, Nintendo has full capabilities to give us this range in prices.
@@chibi2239 I hope you're right because a game like Mario Strikers for 70$ would be such a scam lmao. 60$ is already too much for a game like that imo. I could see what you propose but I don't think Nintendo would like to have the image of being "cheap", you know? I think that's why they don't do many sales, to not devalue the brand? I think it's way more likely that they're going to sell the Switch 2 for 400$, maybe 450$ and not earn too much there (maybe just to cover manufacturing expenses) and then make the money back through software. But I wouldn't rule out the ocassional game for less than 70$ since Nintendo has a fair amount of "AA" games so to speak which are really good.
Based on how insane past nintendo names are New3DS, WiiU, I can see some idiot being like, "we want it to be the switch 2, but we can't call it that, lets go with Switwo, but make the wo in two a u. Switu The Nintendo Switu...wait capitalise the u too, ok the Nintendo SwitU..." They 100% will not call it the super switch though, having the abbreviation as SS and with Japans history in WW2...that just is not happening lol.
@@itswavelengthsit was a very weak rumor that just came from a respected leaker throwing out a bunch of possibilities he's heard going around, but that could be cool.
10:38 based on other videos I've watched, they'd be too scared of losing their trademark to do something like this, especially regarding something that started that fear.
I think they will not call it a switch - just because the Wii U. My prediction is that theyll call it the "Nintendo Snap", where the sound effect is a snap when the controllers magnetically attach to the side of it. But yeah, itll basically be a switch 2 otherwise. I do hope they will launch with a regular and an XL version for the reasons you talked about - maybe the XL will have an OLED screen while the regular has an LCD? Maybe better sound too? Who knows, wishful thinking at that point
You won't need to overlap the gamepak slots as the Switch unlike the DS can load both games at the same time. The DS didn't have the ram to do all that so they only wanted one gamepak at a time. I think there'll be 2 separate slots probably side by side.
Also I doubt the dock will have an upscaler, from leaks of the nvidia chip the switch is using (t239, or something of that nature) they’ll likely undervolt the chip to 12 volts (not exact obv but the one I’ve heard) and about sixty watts of power while docked, I think they’ll most likely have a fan in the dock, and upscale from 1080p docked, and a lower res in handheld
I think let’s combine the best of both worlds and just call it “The Super Nintendo.” It’ll still be basically the Super Nintendo Switch but own it with just the name Nintendo like you were saying.
This is not a prediction, but a demand. Letting people with physical copies of games download them so we don't have to constantly switch out cartridges.
I feel like people calling the next Nintendo switch console the switch 2 is a bad idea, whole reason why the switch was called the switch was because the controllers switched on, but with all the leaks of the new console it seems like the Nintendo snap would be a better idea since it will magnetically snap onto it. That's just my idea though.
Sv does not need better hardware per se. Austinjohn had a video of it while back of just using a fully unlocked tegra x1 chip. The game runs at near locked 30 even in lagtree thicket.
i would put my money on an october reveal rather than a september reveal. if it's not revealed by the end of october, then it will be revealed early next year.
I've heard some shit that the console will be avaliable for consumers in 2027 because the switch 1 was announced 2015 but came out 2017 that would fucking suck if true because I want a switch but I don't want to wait that long
the “every other console was a failure” thing really doesn’t actually hold up whatsoever. NES to SNES, both were runaway successes. N64 underperformed. Gameboy, success. GBC, success. GBA, success. DS, success. Gamecube, underperformed. Wii, success. 3DS success. Wii U failure. Switch, runaway success.
My dream would be a switch with a foldable screen and some cool mechanism to retract the sticks into the body, so I could fold it in half into a lil square. Would make it possible to throw it into a pocket, backpack, etc. and eliminate the need for a case. It probably won't happen, but a man can dream...
I actually think that Nintendo Attach was a pretty good name, even though that whole thing turned out to be some sort of error. If Nintendo decides to sell various different attachments to the console, like different joycons, maybe an extrernal keyboard - all things that magically magnetise to the screen, then nintendo attach would be the perfect way to describe that, and it would also be a departure from the switch branding, whilst still referencing it (in the way that both consoles are verbs relating to the controllers and playstyle)
just fyi, i think it will definitely be something better sounding than this. But I think conceptually, the name will follow this kind of format. Someone said Nintendo Snap. Some sort of vaguely onomatopoeic verb.
If they want to keep the switch branding and do not want a switch 2, what about “Nintendo Attach AND Switch”, stylised as “Attach & Switch”. People will laugh that rumour getting close enough but not like totally confirmed. The attachment idea is also one that I have for a while, but maybe not only keyboard which are niche for games, second screen and camera can be popular accessories, maybe a VR headband. It’s just very Nintendo.
@QnjtGWonQNqVsbYyzjx4 omg exactly with the camera and the VR. Like they could essentially just keep dropping new accessories with features that are not 100% necessary for the base model (like the camera) and it eliminates the problem of the console being too expensive on launch because of these expensive parts. Essentially the console can be a cheap or expensive as the consumer wants it to be depending on what accessories they are willing to buy.
I’ve been seeing to many videos of Switch 2 predictions, I just want this shit to get announced. This switch 2 will probably be my last console so this better be good.
As a name, i think it will be the Switch 2 But if i had to call it something else, i would call it the Nintendo Magnum, making a pun on the magnetic joycons+being their magnum console literally
if they do end up using AI upscaling to increase the resolution, i just hope there's a setting to turn it off because personally i'd rather have the graphics unaltered.
Even the ps5 cannot run most game natively at 4k, the harsh truth is that 4k is a standard that was pushed for by large television manufacturers, gaming at 4k was always an unsustainable unrealistic pipe dream. A resolution around 2.5k should have become the standard.
I don’t know about 4k I can see it 1080p handheld and 1440p docked. I’m not sure they can make the dock output in 4k and still keep the price near the 400$ price point, it would likely have to be more expensive and that’s a hard sale for many with inflation the way it is. Idk though I’m just some guy on the web so 🤷♂️
I'm just gonna add my thoughts as I watch I personally think having be called "The Nintendo" would be _terrible_ for their brand. It would really cripple future consoles, it would cripple ports, and it would risk trademarking issues. Not jus that, but they actively had campaigns to _prevent_ people calling their consoles Nintendos. Not to mention, assuming it _is_ backwards compatible, how do you advertise that? "Coming soon for the Nintendo and Nintendo Switch"? 14:04 actually, there is official statement confirming a "successor to the nintendo switch", specifying that it will be announced "within the fiscal year" 18:34 A "Friend of mine" has played Scarlet on Yuzu (RIP). I dont know how the games "supposed" to perform, but with a decent laptop its running 2x resolution without frame drops, but with occasional emulator glitches (miscoloured textures, for example)

@@GeoCaesaryeah thats why i said natively.
They already went with that branding scheme though with the "New" Nintendo 3ds. There's still hope for the "Super" Nintendo Switch
33:38 I HOPE it doesn’t get bigger because the switch and its carrying case are still pocketable for me😂 It still peeks out a little bit but it fits!
"The nintendo" would be nintendo's version of the white album
I feel like it'll have a VR mode, so my name is Nintendo HalfDepth (without the Switch title) which could be abbreviated as Nintendo HD because it's the highest quality Nintendo console
As for the branding point, the New 3DS is listed on the Nintendo website as "New Nintendo 3DS", so even in recent memory the brand name didn't need to come first. Super Nintendo Switch is my hope and dream
I really enjoyed this! The Swiitch section had me laughing out loud
@@Alaneeeeee I'm pretty sure both Warioware games were $50
@@chibi2239 just checked, you're right! I stand by my point though.
Switu The Nintendo Switu...wait capitalise the u too, ok the Nintendo SwitU..."
They 100% will not call it the super switch though, having the abbreviation as SS and with Japans history in WW2...that just is not happening lol.
Dual screens or bust
i saw a recent rumor that you'll be able to use the switch 2 handheld AND on tv at the same time - like the wii u. could you IMAGINE?
Jesus if they double down on the WiiU- That's big Wii energy. Actually now's the time for the Wii2. Wii, WiiU, Switch, Wii2
I think I would transcend.
@@itswavelengthsit was a very weak rumor that just came from a respected leaker throwing out a bunch of possibilities he's heard going around, but that could be cool.
Dual screen was never good
10:38 based on other videos I've watched, they'd be too scared of losing their trademark to do something like this, especially regarding something that started that fear.
I never thought about that before but I could totally see Listerine taking over for naming when it comes to mouthwash.
bless you for actually commenting about listerine
I never thought of the name "Nintendo" that's so hilarious and perfect 😂
Porter Robinson Smile :D tour shirt spotted
I was jumpscared
I think they will not call it a switch - just because the Wii U. My prediction is that theyll call it the "Nintendo Snap", where the sound effect is a snap when the controllers magnetically attach to the side of it. But yeah, itll basically be a switch 2 otherwise. I do hope they will launch with a regular and an XL version for the reasons you talked about - maybe the XL will have an OLED screen while the regular has an LCD? Maybe better sound too? Who knows, wishful thinking at that point
I would be super down dirty for Nintendo Switch Advance
Love this video, bro provided amazing content whilst a devoured a can of Pringles
The Switch does have usbc audio out but not all headphones work with it.
i want a freakin stylus with the next switch. also i will now forever call it the super nintendo switch, that sounds clean!!
This is not a prediction, but a demand. Letting people with physical copies of games download them so we don't have to constantly switch out cartridges.
Always wanted this
How does Nintendo stop from giving their physical game to a friend, while they play the free digital copy
Ooo, and what are you gonna do about it, big man with the demands
@@therealtijuanaman ok
my prediction is that they'll drop a trailer out of nowhere and with the trailer they'll a direct going more into it later
I've heard that if you give Scarlet and Violet more power, it does, in fact, run waaay better.
Nintendo Switch does have bluetooth audio now. It has for years.
I just want them to call it the Nintendo switch 2 its very clear and i think people get is it goes with the PlayStation kind of logic.
I've heard some shit that the console will be avaliable for consumers in 2027 because the switch 1 was announced 2015 but came out 2017 that would fucking suck if true because I want a switch but I don't want to wait that long
the “every other console was a failure” thing really doesn’t actually hold up whatsoever.
NES to SNES, both were runaway successes. N64 underperformed. Gameboy, success. GBC, success. GBA, success. DS, success. Gamecube, underperformed. Wii, success. 3DS success. Wii U failure. Switch, runaway success.
Super Nintendo Switch also shortens to SNS which could end up being iconic but different than SNeS
Respect for that Porter shirt
My dream would be a switch with a foldable screen and some cool mechanism to retract the sticks into the body, so I could fold it in half into a lil square. Would make it possible to throw it into a pocket, backpack, etc. and eliminate the need for a case. It probably won't happen, but a man can dream...
i love this dream. this is a GOOD dream.
And having more moveable parts makes it prone to wearing out faster 😢
This switch 2 will probably be my last console so this better be good.
scarlet and violet runs the same even on a 4090. So not even in your dreams.
Because that game is hot dogshit
Congrats on 1K subs
thank you!!
As a name, i think it will be the Switch 2
But if i had to call it something else, i would call it the Nintendo Magnum, making a pun on the magnetic joycons+being their magnum console literally
if they do end up using AI upscaling to increase the resolution, i just hope there's a setting to turn it off because personally i'd rather have the graphics unaltered.
Idk though I’m just some guy on the web so 🤷♂️
Nintendo Super Switch would be funny just because it could be abbreviated to Nintendo SS 😂
Ahh internet, what have you done to my sense of humor
Switch Nuo. Sounds like new, but you evade the confusion.
i actually think you are onto something with swiitch and i hate it
I'm just gonna add my thoughts as I watch
I personally think having be called "The Nintendo" would be _terrible_ for their brand.
14:04 actually, there is official statement confirming a "successor to the nintendo switch", specifying that it will be announced "within the fiscal year"
18:34 A "Friend of mine" has played Scarlet on Yuzu (RIP). I dont know how the games "supposed" to perform, but with a decent laptop its running 2x resolution without frame drops, but with occasional emulator glitches (miscoloured textures, for example)
I really enjoyed this video :) Eearned yourself a sub!! I look forward to more of your stuff
