The fact 3 different guys all different weights shapes and sizes hit the machine in all different styles and for the most part ended up with pretty much the same scores as each other tells you everything you need to know about these machines.
You're correct. The machine measures the speed that the piston returns to its upwright position. If you put any side pressure, it actually slows the pistons return. A quick straight or an overhand right while standing off to the side is best, but because the machine is so rigid and requires a movement that isnt fluid or natural, you'll always lose power if you throw with good technique. There are actual pressure bags that measure force, and Eddy has hit those in the past. The amusing thing about these bags is that a small guy can compete with a larger guy because the movement is such shit. It makes for a fun party game, nothing more.
@@Justaguyyoutubin A lot of them even have brakes. You have to hit it in a VERY specific direction to get a high score. And that direction is usually adjustable. It's not a matter of just hitting it straight. What's straight? Straight in relation to what? They're designed to hurt men's pride and make them put more money in.
@@ashscott6068 I used to work on these machines. Straight in relationship to the axis that the piston pivots on. Its most efficient path of travel is the same path that it releases from when you activate the machine. Its effectively a strap hinge that has a friction ratchet on the end of it with an electrical release. There are no 'brakes'. Speed and follow-through will take you further than power. Hitting and pushing the piston into its upwright position with your fist, will generally move the load quickest. If you want to protect your pride, gently place your palm on the bag and rapidly jam it back into its upwright position.
In 5"10 150, played college baseball as a pitcher, a little boxing and can hit the same scores as these guys. Whoever said it's about piston speed is absolutely correct bc in no way shape or form can I hit as hard as these guys haha

Calibration is almost certainly different between these machines. I saw a carnival worker explaining how to get a high score, and obviously you need to hit it hard but apparently hitting slightly down in angle helps a lot as the ball moves on a pivot.
Yeah there's noway all these machines are the same, I maxxed one out last time i played on one and there's no way i hit harder than Eddie Hall or Tommy Fury
The balls are also different, some are more sponge like and some are more padded. The weight of the ball would be a huge factor I reckon since it's how it absorbs your punch and transfers the energy.
How these machines work, is on a light sensor. Or more like a laser line. There's a tiny point when it comes up and hits the top where the light is blocked. This is why the machine is dribbling the ball once it's been hit. The milliseconds it took for your punch to bounce back the ball in it's stopping point gives the number. So theoretically. This is all about power. As long as you have the knowledge how to punch. Great video!
No smh if it hits the sensor spot on then it’ll go up . Doesn’t matter how hard u hit it 🤦♂️😂 I can Jab that thing and it’ll go higher then someone hitting it full force as long as it hit the sensor Straight on
I’m 5’8” 138lbs and I’ve hit 901. It’s definitely technically accurate. I can hit 800 with a jab. It depends on how and where you hit it, not how hard you hit it
I mean the whole "big guys can't fight" thing is like, being big doesn't make you atheletic or specifically skilled in fighting which is a discipline in and of itself, but ALSO, there's a reason that weight classes exist. When a big guy is just as atheletic AND knows how to fight, he has an advantage over a small guy who is otherwise equally skilled.
Now feel better about myself knowing I have gotten about 907 on one of these at 180lbs when I was a lighter boxer but also got the same amount maybe a little more when I was 225lbs. I never relied on weight for my punch but used the floor and velocity which is more consistent and never did these run ups as there awkward when you know power comes from the floor more. Tommy has a consistent technique and his accuracy is bang in the middle each time. I wish I could box right now after a shoulder injury and having to wait and see my rheumatologist.
I dont train but used to beat everyone for drinks in Tenerife at 85kg. My mates would just pick out all the biggest roiders and id take them for drinks without fail.
@hamzaksentini6341 nah fr, they had this same machine at my arcade, hit it a few times, 901, and 917 were my best. While I do agree that they are all usually different, though some have basically the same calibrations, it is good to know that I have a more precise punch if at the least.
I'm 260 pounds and my record was 982 on this. I consistently hit over 900 and average 940s when my hand doesn't hurt lol. Not a boxer and no boxing training. Just gotta hit right in the middle with all your might
Those punching machines nowadays aren't very accurate but they're not as good as the older ones are the ones that used to be made a little bit better. Throw out the challenge to big Mike Tyson to come join you both for a training session and a go at the punch machine, now that would be an amazing video.
*If you didnt know.. if you punch the bag slightly lower and at an upward angle, you get a much higher score.. punching the bag straight on, the bag bends and absorbs a good amount of the punch on impact and moves slower from its starting position.. but if you punch it slightly upwards angle, you force the bag to move with your fist alot earlier because it flex's alot less while absorbing less of the punch. Try it and you'll see.*
@agfbuilding I'd disagree for this machine. I've punched THIS EXACT SAME ONE, got 917 with a regular ol' PRECISE straight. No up, or down. It's different for every machine, and if you have a good and precise hit, usually you'll get a better score. Without cheating lmao
I wonder what Bruce Lee's half inch punch would have been like on a machine like that today 😆 No run up nessicary, just use your hips as the pivot point to apply as much power to the target, and as he also said, don't aim for the target, but a point beyond or behind the target as your point of impact 😉 That way you run through the target
If eddie did that in a real fight and missed he would stumble an get a combo and would get knocked out or dizzy he needs to focus on balance guy got the potential to be a serious boxer
