i was the driver on a road trip last summer. '19 CR-V. the start of this vid summed it up. smooth and compliant on any road we took, all 2,500 + miles. and roomy for its size. my right bun would ache a bit after 8 - 10 hours on the road, but that might be more me than the vehicle. my personal vehicle is a '15 CR-V, and this new generation is a significant upgrade. any updates - upgrades the 2020 has to that '19 package would make it even nicer. there is a reason this sells so well. but you gotta drive it first to really find out, folks. good review.
Honda can say whatever they want, customers are still having problems with oil dilution in 2020 on the 1.5 liter turbo engine. Honda is telling people a certain amount of oil dilution is normal, which is B.S. Honda tells you to change the oil more often, don’t take a lot of short, quick drives, blah, blah, blah. Honda’s software updates to try to warm up the engine faster is just a bandaid. The Toyota RAV4 is much more reliable & it doesn’t have a CVT that you have to change the transmission fluid every 30,000 miles & can’t be repaired if it goes bad.
I just bought a 2020 CR-V EX 2WD and for me, that CVT drone is slightly noticable during hard acceleration such as merging on the freeway, but other than that, I really don't feel a difference between a Honda CVT and a regular automatic. I admit, I was sceptical at first about the combination of a Turbo engine and the CVT, but after driving it for a while, I'm more than satisfied with the CR-V powertrain. Besides when it comes to reliability, both the Honda and Toyota CVT's have proven to be much more better than the Nissan CVT.
I just bought a 2020 just off a 3 year lease with only 14300 miles. The car looked very nice but the detail team at Pensacola Honda was a joke. It took everything I had to clean the tires and the very last elbow grease I had to get the calcium stains off the black paint around the doors trim with some inexpensive wax ( I'm a 71 year old DAV) I don't have any problems with the car so far. It drives very smoothly, good acceleration, the adaptive speed control is nice to have on freeway trips. I really love it so far. This is the first car I have owned where you leave the key in your pocket and it's so convenient. The driver door and trunk unlock automatically to your touch and the car locks automatically when you get 10 feet away from it. So cool. Some of the other features that it has are not worth advertising. The radio has the worst sound I have ever had in a vehicle since the 1990's. The sound is so distorted, it aggravates me. I just keep the volume low. The LKAS ( Lane Keep) will absolutely kill you if you don't keep a close eye on it. It will minimally adjust your drive as you go down the road but leave it alone too much and it will take you right into head on traffic. It's a killer. The adaptive cruise control is the same way. So many time in town it wants to accelerate me right into the car parked at a red light. DON"T TRUST EITHER OF THESE FEATURES!! to drive your car solo very long. I am happy with my CR-V but it's not all they advertise it to be.
You can knock the seats down by pulling on the handles in the tailgate area. The ones on top of the seats are for when you're standing near the back seats. Also you can use the "Kick" motion underneath the tailgate to close the tailgate when your hands are full.
I had the first year Juke awd CVT, and had no problems with it in northern Ontario Canada, and the Honda CRV is supposed to be the best CVT....Well, I'M IN!
HRV is a commuter vehicle and not performance. Its all about saving gas. Compare it to its competitions and it is an all rounder and a clear winner as a commuter CUV with the biggest interior volume.
@@ChummyChime none of these are performance cars lol. They are all commuter CUV's and SUV's. Just raised hatchbacks and station wagons with cheap AWD systems. That doesn't change the fact that CVT is over hyped junk with little to no benefit. I seen no gas penalty going to a CX5 with more HP and a 6 speed. In fact the HRV around town was only 1.5 L.100 km better in gas per tank then my AWD TLX in winter AND summer and my TLX has over 290HP V6. My TLX is also much better on gas on the highway. CVT is awful, doesn't last, not fun to drive, constant drone on the highway that'll pop your ears. The HRV itself isn't a bad CUV at all for what it is. Fun to drive, good in the snow, lots of room for it's size and comfortable for the most part, but that CVT is just awful. Honda makes some of the best CVT's in the biz so I can't imagine how bad the rest are. Automatics have gotten so good now there's literally zero point as to why CVT even exists anymore outside of the fact that automakers invested money in them thinking they were the answer to better mpg, when in fact they've been a failure. But since they already got the plants and designs made they need to make their return on them.
Tbh.. its noisy, slow, bumpy, and plasticky. I really HATE the plastic buttons on the steering wheel.. I think people who actually buy this car would be a loyalist. 1.5 Turbo is just bad news for longevity of this vehicle. Just go With naturally aspirated engines..
Hi my parents have a older model . They got stuck in a bit of snow only one Tire was spinning on snow and the rest did not turning at all. There was no power transfer to the adder Tire the arnt spining or moving.
The CR-V is a good sized vehicle, but not crazy about the exterior styling. Honda should reinvent their design language to keep up with the Koreans ..........
Dave, it works for me and my wife, our '17 Hyundai Tucson awd is okay but the ground clearance sucks in my snowy/ice northern Ontario Canada climate. We're looking at the 'All Canadian' CR-V Sport awd which replaces the EX model and adds the power lift gate and a few other options, thanks so much for the review!

lease payment in canada for a base awd rav 4 over 4 years was close to 510 a month due to the nutty lease rate of 4.99 % so I went with a CRV 2020 lx awd for 428 a month , .99 % lease rate due to loyalty program (coming off 2016 crv lease) . If I get oil dilution I'll just hand the keys over in 48 months when lease is up .
touring has the power lift gate, better sound system, dual driver seat position memory, and i believe a larger infotainment screen. and depending on which EX you have (FWD or AWD), i don’t think the touring is worth the money.
It depends on what you're needs are. I just bought a 2020 CR-V EX 2WD and it's equipped with many desirable features such as heated front seats, a power moonroof, rear privacy glass, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto integration, the Honda Sensing Safety features(Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keeping Assist, Blind Spot Monitoring), remote engine start, free Sirrus/XM radio for the first 3 months, and a power driver's seat(the passenger seat is still manual). The only main features that the EX doesn't offer compared to the EX-L or Touring is leather seats and a power lift gate which is fine with me. Like I said, it really depends on what you're needs are and for me personally, I am more than satisfied with the EX trim level. I hope this information about my CR-V helps?
Oil dilution is real in the 17, 18 and 19 CRV, I know first hand. It is an unfortunate situation to find yourself in. I know our 2018 was not able to be fixed by Honda so in in late 2019 we traded it back to Honda for a Passport. The Passport is a fine vehicle but gets 8 MPG less for us.

shifter was a deal breaker for me. So was oil dilution and CVT. Add it all together and there are better options. I don't know why Honda insists on putting the shifter in a spot so hard to reach. Awkward.
That's a dumb statement, oil dilution is gas getting into the oil! And happens in very cold climates, but, you must remember gas gets into most all cars oil.and honda 2020 don't have that problem, please give Correct information!
@TheEtbetween You are giving wrong information. The 1.5L Turbo in the Honda CR-V allows an excessive amount of gas to get into the oil and it doesn’t happen only in cold climates. I live in Texas and am having issues with my CR-V and oil dilution. This in not my first vehicle with a turbo but it is my first Honda turbo.
