I upgraded from my 2011 Toyota Rav 4 to the 2020 Honda CRV and its like heaven for me! Feels very safe, very comfortable ride, great trunk especially now that you can make it flat with that little lift. The auto correct and advanced cruise control is a life saver
As a Crv owner, 2017, I love it. Best vehicle I ever owned. A few things to nit pick over: interior lights are hard to find, and they're dim. My civic is way better in this area. Another thing, the fan has buttons, not a knob. My civic has a knob for the fan. Way easier to use. But overall quality is superb.
I purchased an LX AWD yesterday for my wife. After driving Jeep Liberty for 12 years she is ecstatic about the vehicle. I am 6' 3" 235 lbs and am very comfortable in both the front and rear seats. Ours is Red with light gray interior. We did include a 100,000 mile warranty into the deal. Our friends have owned 4 of these CRV's. The one they are currently driving has 150K miles with no issues except routine maintenance. I'll be happy with that.
Its been a week and I really enjoy it. Mine is a 2.4l petrol ex model. Just a bliss to drive and i dont have any issue with the acceleration. Its fast enough unlike what these reviewers say. Very spacious which is a well known fact. Infotainment is good, not as bad as it was portrayed. Interiors are plush and seats are comfortable. Exhaust could have been designed well and infotainment should have lesser bezel. I don't find any other drawbacks as of now and its not only a family car, but a sporty car with good sports mode and paddle shifters which works surprisingly good and this was not mentioned by any of the reviewers. Its just the best and go for it, if you are confused whether to go or not. You won't regret!!
Thanks. I thought I’d hate it but I test drove it four times and loved it more each time. The reviews are good but can only take you so far. I test drove the RAV4 twice and hated it both times - it’s a heavy, loud car with an oppressive interior, not to mention Toyota salespersons are disinterested in selling a car. They’re very “Toyota’s sell themselves.”
I love Honda. I just purchased a 2019 Accord LX and absolutely love it. I think this CR-V is awesome. I like the darkened housings and the wheels on that Touring trim level. One big thing I HATE is the auto start/stop. It sucks just like on every car. It only saves 1 mpg per year or something like that. I would be turning that off but I don't have to worry about that as the 2019 Accord LX doesn't have it. Great review!
2019 honda accord doesnt look that great... But till 2018 they looked splendid. Accord is very good in power and acceleration, I know this is because I had owned one. I love it
I was with you Dustin, we had 4 other hondas before the problematic 2018 CRV EX, they all were fantastic problem free vehicles. Then came the 1.5 Turbo and the outright lies and deny, deny, deny from Honda. I lost confidence in them. The only reason we traded in the 2018 in on the 2019 Passport is I just couldn't in good concience trade it in to anyone but honda. It is likely our last honda. The old " Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me" adage.
I have a 2006 Honda CRV. I love it. One of the features it has is a small shelf right in front of the passenger seat to place some items such as phones, sunglasses, etc. this is something the Toyota Highlander has. For a 2006, I’m surprised it’s there, and they should definitely bring it back.
Nice video, we own this vehicle and the Accord touring, first Honda’s we’ve had and the quality is amazing, very solid feeling vehicles. I don’t understand why reviewers dog Honda’s push button transmission setup, I love it, it looks good to me and lets me open the door and put my phone in the wireless charger without obstruction from a shift lever. 🤷🏽♂️
Watched a few of your guys' videos. Gotta say I love the format, quality and thoroughness of the reviews. And less bias then I hear from other auto channels. Thanks
The Accord is a CVT transmission as well, No question Honda makes one of the better CVT but who wants a 1 speed transmission that will cost you a arm and a leg when you have to replace it.
Honda created the illusion of greater space by shrinking/narrower the front seats, and closing the gaps. The gap means the seats are very close to the center console, so much less likeky to have stuff slip between the two. That said, it does feel huge inside, and the seats are still comfortable.
Cannot beat these crv's,i got my wife a BMW x3 as a treat and upgrade for a women who didn't have much and she really really misses her CRV. Once the lease is up I'll be get her 3rd Honda Crv and she's hyped up for that.
To keep up with Kia, Hyundai and Toyota one can expect a major CR-V refresh in 2021 to include 360* camera, ventilated seats, parking sensors and power folding mirror.
The 5th gen CR-V with the 1.5T and CVT AWD tested between 7.3 - 7.6 0-60 -- which is not bad for an SUV (not a sports car, but still not bad). The Toyota RAV 4 TRD 0-60 tested at 8.0 seconds, but 7.4 with the hybrid... so the CR-V with AWD would eat the non hybrid for breakfast. I think the AWD plays a major part in acceleration. My wife's 2.4 iVTEC and 5 speed is really slow... even with AWD, but the problem with conventional transmissions is that they can only be tuned for efficiency or performance -- not both; whereas, the CVT can play both sides of the game. I think we have to remember that this is NOT a Civic Type-R, but a utility vehicle ;)
Not sure why Honda didn’t update the infotainment to the much improved Hondalink in the Accord and Odyssey. The new infotainment is on-par with the best.
Even didn’t change on 2021. This is very bad by Honda that don’t give new features to people if sales are going up. Accord and Odyssey sales were going down so Honda changed infotainment to attract people and CR-V in contrast has been going up in sales due to its SUV body. Honda hardly changed anything from 2017-2021 CR-V in EX trims and above.
Small displacement turbocharged engine has soiled the Honda brand. I bought a 2019 CR-V LX to avoid the disaster, but to 2020 they’ve eliminated that option. Foolish to opt for a turbocharged engine for only 1-2 mpg and a few HP. Completely stupid to invite reliability issues for no tangible benefit.
Good review, you are honest. I appreciate that! One suggestion: Need to mount camera so it's looking out at the road just below the rear-view mirror. The mirror is constantly in the way. I don't need to keep seeing you in the mirror if that's what you are trying to do.... I know you have it suctioned cupped to the glass sun room, but you need an extendable / adjustable mount. Good overall review!
Great detailed review. However I wish there would be more reviews of low-end trims that most people buy anyway. Most of such videos show top of the line trim, and that may give different impression of the car for people who can't afford extra whistles and bells for $8-10k. Like CR-V LX doesn't even have mirror blind spot sensor, and interior looks way cheaper than Touring trim.
I try to mix it up. I review all trim levels. I reviewed base lx for Accord, Pilot and other models. When the 2021 crv comes out, ill be sure to review something different.
Yeah the turbo with oil dilution problems, and cvt which even if a good one, will be too expensive to replace at 100K kms. So much for buying a Honda for longevity and reliability. Really like the cargo space of this small SUV, but cannot afford guaranteed expensive repairs. Also heard the AC in Hondas are weak.....which here in southern Ontario summers is a deal breaker.
I, personally, really like the clean and classic look of the Touring. I'm very happy with my 2019 CR-V, though I believe I will be trading it in for the 2020 within the year.
Bad move financially. You'd be better off financially to try to sell it yourself at least instead of trading in. You're losing a lot of money for not much gain, either way. You're also taking on extra risk because you could get a new car with problems when you've said you have none with the one you have. But maybe you're a millionaire!
Can you tell us about the oil dilution issue with this engine? Since its a GDI turbo, does the motor have issues with carbon deposits on the backside of the intake valves? Are you aware of GDI problems to begin with? Please tell us you aware of these problems?
Honda ruined the CR-V with the CVT transmission and the 1.5 liter turbo engine. they need to go back to the 2.4 engine and a 4 or 5 speed transmission. I have always bought Honda's or Acura now I will have to buy Toyota RAVE or Lexus they have a regular transmission and a 2.4 litter engine. What was Honda thinking, I guess gas MPG all this for 1/2 MPG pathetic in my opinion.
Toyota uses a 2.5 not a 2.4. I like a real automatic transmission. But Toyota has no leather, it's slower and has less rear leg room with smaller cargo room. One more thing! These are Small crossovers nothing like the 4 Runner. The CRV is a Civic and the Rav4 is a Corolla.
@patriot I agree especially with the oil dilution issues Honda is having. Honda was a once reliable company. Going turbo and direct injection ruined it for them. Their engines were very fuel efficient for an NA
I leased a 2017 EX-L. Wishing I'd have waited at least until 2019. Mine has many quirks and issues. The infotainment screen adjusts its own brightness repeatedly if I use Pandora, so I wind up having to deal with constant beeping. The touch screen will freeze up, and the only way to get it to stop freaking out is to shut the car off for a minute, and not use Pandora on Bluetooth. What's worse is that it takes about 15 minutes for the car to warm up to an acceptable level before driving. If you don't warm it up enough, you risk having gasoline leaking into the oil chamber. The guy at the dealership said the issue is caused by the customer not warming the engine up enough before driving, so it's the customer's fault. I told him it's ridiculous to expect the buyer to warm up their car for 15 minutes every morning before driving. Most cars only take about 3 minutes to warm up. Take it out on the freeway, and it's LOUD. Nonetheless, the it and finish of the interior is fabulous. Fundamentally, it's an awesome car. Definitely the leader in its class, and I love driving it. But with all the bugs mine came with, plus how Honda refuses to fix the issues I've had with it, I will never buy another Honda. When this one finally dies, I will go with anything but Honda.
THE 30 MPG CITY IS THE MOST IMPORTANT FEATURE.!!!!! THE CRV TOURING SHOULD GET THE 16 SPEAKER ELS 3D PREMIUM SOUND SYSTEM YOU FIND IN THE ACURA RDX.... I'D LIKE TO SEE THE 2022 ENGINE UPGRADED TO A DOHC 1.6 LITER TO GET A LITTLE MORE POWER & ACCELERATION WHILE STILL MAINTAINING EXCEPTIONAL CITY MPG..... I'LL TAKE THE ELS SOUND SYSTEM OVER ALL OTHER FEATURES!!!!
Nice video, interesting vehicle. (FYI: it would be useful to viewers if you’d give the city and state when giving the url) Thanks anyway; very informative!
Great review as always. How about doing a side by side comparison with the 2020 Honda CR-V and the 2020 Toyota Rav4 TRD. It's just because I'm conflicted on which one to go with.
Keemborghini I am part of the class action lawsuit and we have 2019 owners. The software fix did not fix the issue unless you know of some other solution?
@@marvinnicklas7638 "In a memo sent to dealers, Honda’s manager of auto campaigns and recalls, Brad Ortloff, said oil in these engines could be diluted because of software settings or potential hardware failures. Some vehicles could experience “lack of power,” leading to cylinder misfires or engine noise." Consumer Reports "But if the vehicles are stalling, as some owners have reported, this is a safety issue and Honda should conduct an official recall, which doesn’t expire.” Consumer Reports
@@normt5463 my stepsons 2017 CRV went into limp home mode, all the lights on the dash came on. He had it towed to his dealer and they changes the oil and told him to drive it for 30 minutes whenever he starts it. That won't work, we live in Canada and all his trips are short. Luckily the dealer gave him a great deal on a KIA as he needs a reliable vehicle for work. This problem will not go away without a total redesign of the engine. Shame on Honda for not doing better testing.
I got 2018 crv exactly same model 1.5 turbo engine..I got gas smell inside cabin sometimes..also remember 1.5turbo engine got oil dilution problem.we recall reprogramming once I’m keeping eye on it..before I got 05 crv that was best not this model..unless if you claim Honda solve the those issues
I know, right? I always find it sort of ridiculous when they expect regular cars, that people will use to get to work and take the kids to school, to perform like they were doing laps in the Indy 500.
SuperSonicMan exactly, this car is in the top speed category for all cars under $35k that aren’t trying to be fast. When you take sports cars out of the picture like Camaros and mustangs, there really isn’t anything faster than a 7.5 ish second 0-60. Most regular cars under 30-35k have horrid 9.5+ second 0-60s.
Hello, why my 2020 Honda CR-V EX do not have access to most of the Hondalink services? It is because hardware limitation? Is very frustrating and disappointing. Other cars like the Hyundai Tucson has these features in all trims. Doesn't make any sense since I was willing to pay the subscription.
@@MontanaWelldigger Do you have a creditable source for the 2019/2020 model? I was taught in College to make sure to have absolute credible sources. Thank You.
I have an 18, I'm talking to a fellow that has a 19, I'm praying the 20's are good because I'd like to buy one. I have my doubts though. I also have a DI Mercury Marine Verado 350 H.P. motor that has DI. If you putt around in it alot they have the tendency to dilute the oil with fuel. BUT moderate mid range running takes care of the excess fuel. Our honda gets regular 30 to 100 mile highway trips as we live in rural Montana.
Great review! but I think I’ll stick with my 2014 Acura MDX. it’s has amazing pick up and go and for now, I feel like it would be a downgrade in terms of acceleration, if I traded for Honda CRV....
You totally missed the huge issue related to the oil / gas dilution. Personally I would never buy a turbo due to limited life expectancy of the engine. I am still driving my 2009 naturally aspirated CRV.
@David Carlin : yep, I feel the same driving my 2006. Waiting for a return of a n/a engine and auto or manual transmission. I’m sure it’s not going to happen, but a man has a right to dream. Or I may pull a trigger on a CX-5 before they switch to CVTs.
@@MaximumDIYGarage as a 2008 Honda CRV owner, i would only consider going to Toyota. If you look online at fleets, auctions, etc I can find Honda's/Toyotas with 300-500,000 miles. Not many Subarus or Mazda's with that mileage. Granted I only have 203,000 trouble free miles, I think Toyota/Honda owners know they can go many more miles.
CRV OWNERS: what’s the deal with oil dilution? I am really wanting a CRV but have heard a lot of horror stories about oil dilution still being a problem.
Same as out 2018 Touring. Changes are only slight cosmetic. The problem with these the engine. They still have the oil dilution problem. Not something to keep long term. Love absolutely everything else about our CRV. Personally we don’t care about the oil dilution problem because we only keep a vehicle for 2 years. But one these are 4 or 5 years old and out of warranty I’d advise people to stay away from them. Gas in the oil will cause major Turbo issues down the road as well as crank and camshaft problems.
You don't care... Really? Well if you're leasing and your lease contract assures you that you will only be paying what you agreed to then I understand that BUT if you bought the vehicle and enough people looking to purchase a used one aren't willing to risk buying a used one without a huge discount then the result could be a huge reduction in Honda's resale value which means you could take a hit on it when it comes time to trade it in. Maybe then you'll care.
On my 2020 I still had oil dilution issue, I had to trade it in for other Car. This engine has been banned in Chine until Honda has full fix. Why US does not do the same I have not idea.
I don’t think I Would like a turbo charge in a small engine I’d rather have a bigger engine without a turbo 2.4 whatever not a 1.8 turbo or something like that 1.6
im in the market for a used Honda crv ....the 17" tires are bothering me. seems too big for a 4 cycl. how can the crv get good gas milage if a 4 cycl. has to pull 17" tires?
Sara, big difference in the engines used: Honda has that problematic turbo with oil dilution issue, while the Subaru uses a non-turbo. If you plan to keep the vehicle a long time, opt for the non-turbo. And another huge factor is that Subaru is all wheel drive across the board, you'd have to pay more on the CRV if you need AWD.
Sorry, fuxk the turbo and CVT, one main reason I traded my 2014 CRV for 2018 RDX, solid V6, 6 speed. 10X better car. I see Honda screwed it all the way, you couldn't get the 2.4 engine on even the LX in 2020.
Honda should have moved that CMBS sensor from just below the HONDA grill emblem to the windshield area like the Subaru's and Mazda's ALSO they should have left the factory Navigation unit available on the EX-L AND Touring!

George, make sure you turn off the econ mode. It takes away all the zip the engine might have in my experience with my Honda.
I would've considered this vehicle, my wife has a 2017 Honda cr-v. Because of that I'm leaning towards the Toyota trd off road 2020.
Smart choice - stay away from honda, it's not what it used to be 20+ years ago.
@@nofyfb123 No its amazing are you dumb?
I have a 2018 Honda and love it!
I feel old. I remember the time when my 2nd gen CRV could actually go offroad without falling apart.
hell yeahh CRVs were never meant to go off road
@@f181234 yea but they were perfectly suitable for light offroading and going to my villa lol
hell yeahh any suv nowadays could do light off roading
I'm kinda surprised you said CRV is quiet. Because I can literally hear almost every outside noise. The sound deadening in CRV is terrible
Excellent review.
CR-V been using the CVT since 2014. Why is everyone so surprised ?
Nice video, interesting vehicle. (FYI: it would be useful to viewers if you’d give the city and state when giving the url) Thanks anyway; very informative!
I'm assuming people can look up the dealership info :)
We have a 2018 CR-V Touring. We love most things about this car except...it’s too low to the ground and the center console is too small.
Really good review. TY.
CRV needs that 2L turbo engine
Great review as always. How about doing a side by side comparison with the 2020 Honda CR-V and the 2020 Toyota Rav4 TRD. It's just because I'm conflicted on which one to go with.
Thanks. Yup thinking about doing that soon. :)
Did Honda resolve engine issue(oil & gas mixing) with 2020 CRV? Last I heard the fix did not take on all the CRVs they had issues with
JohnnyV i owned one 2019 ex-l AWD and since 2019 all model got fixed. Never have any small issues with my car.
Never fixed the 2018 Ex, I doubt 2019 got fixed as they are same cars. Don't even look at Honda.
The fix started with the 2019’s
Keemborghini I am part of the class action lawsuit and we have 2019 owners. The software fix did not fix the issue unless you know of some other solution?
@@tranhappy8382 And now the OW-16 oil engine is now available for these engines
Still missing the infotainment if the 2019 accord
You lost me on the turbo. Not interested.
Is there a dipstick to check CVT fluid?
Nope. Don't you trust friendly honda stealer?!? I don't...
Great ride! I am glad you can switch out the awful fake wood trim for fake carbon fiber trim.
I used to have crv 2007 then change for 2012 and now I was think to get 2020 or Pilot still don’t know 🤓any suggestions?
I also felt the same on brakes. they are not very sharp . We need to really press it harder for stopping the car. can we fix this?
What's up with the oil dilution problems
Still there...
Honda corporate is in denial, it will cost them billions when they have to recall them all.
@@marvinnicklas7638 "In a memo sent to dealers, Honda’s manager of auto campaigns and recalls, Brad Ortloff, said oil in these engines could be diluted because of software settings or potential hardware failures. Some vehicles could experience “lack of power,” leading to cylinder misfires or engine noise." Consumer Reports
"But if the vehicles are stalling, as some owners have reported, this is a safety issue and Honda should conduct an official recall, which doesn’t expire.” Consumer Reports
@@marvinnicklas7638 ugh...
No friggin way. The oil dillusion problem has never been fixed. Buyer beware.
Lease only!
@@normt5463 If absolutely must have a honda then lease. But why?!?
Sucks that the gunmetal metallic exterior is gone for the refreshed CR-V’s. Wish they’ve kept it..
Yo where you drove by that McDonald’s and Walmart, I live close by there lmaooo
Slow??? Compare to what ?? Your Porsche?
I test-drove Rav4 Hybrid last Friday, it was so slow it's not even funny.
It is perfect!
Not slow at all.
It is a touring car not race car...
Yeah ... Compared to his mc laren
Waiting for the hybrid version of this only so I can avoid the 1.5L turbo.
Fuel diluting the oil got you scared of Honda turbos?
Do you think they have earned your business, there ard other options out there
Man, oh man, I've seen some fuel dilution before, but not like our 18 Crv ex had. It was crazy bad.
Is the CR-V noisy when driving on a top speed
Very good review!
Thank you!
Thks - in market for new Honda in few weeks! Very helpful...
Did they fix the fuel mixing with the oil problem?
They haven't on the 2019's, who knows about the 2020's.
Our 2018 Crv 1.5 is a few days away from being purchased brand new one year ago.
Tractor Home Improvement Were you taught how to research in college?
Great review! but I think I’ll stick with my 2014 Acura MDX. it’s has amazing pick up and go and for now, I feel like it would be a downgrade in terms of acceleration, if I traded for Honda CRV....
MDX is a much bigger suv than the CRV...Pilot might be a good choice.
Hope the oil dilution issue is fixed. If you think its a myth watch my video and make your own call.
Nope.
3:24 Sorry I don’t know why, but I died laughing
Always loved crv dang still laggy infotainment in 2020... I guess vw is the only one that sorta knows how to do it right.
CRV OWNERS: what’s the deal with oil dilution? I am really wanting a CRV but have heard a lot of horror stories about oil dilution still being a problem.
I love it !! ❤❤❤❤
Steven Sevek I fully expect to take a hit on it because I bought it outright.
It would be more than happiness ,if Touring come with another 2.0 hybrid SH-AWD
Is the Oil Dilution problem fixed with the 2020 model's?
On my 2020 I still had oil dilution issue, I had to trade it in for other Car. This engine has been banned in Chine until Honda has full fix. Why US does not do the same I have not idea.
@@lonewolf_2022 US? You mean drumpf?
I don’t think I Would like a turbo charge in a small engine I’d rather have a bigger engine without a turbo 2.4 whatever not a 1.8 turbo or something like that 1.6
I love my Honda CR-V but the Ford Edge I had had a lot more power though
Can check out is there still gasoline leaked to the engine oil? Honda call oil dilution
I thought his voice sounds familiar, then i zoom in the face and ohhh this is the bitcoin guy
I don’t like the hood design. You can definitely see the reflection on a sunny day. Same problem with Nissan Muranos and other cars.
Ventilated seats please on touring trim.
George - I live in FL, but I was wondering if the touch screen control works for people who wear gloves?
Good question Jim...
Have any of the commenters here had any problems with (This model) brakes not working? The pedal goes all the way down while driving?
im in the market for a used Honda crv ....the 17" tires are bothering me. seems too big for a 4 cycl. how can the crv get good gas milage if a 4 cycl. has to pull 17" tires?
If your looking for max fuel economy look at the hrv instead.
Really liked this car, test drove it. Can’t take the cvt😔
Great review, still trying to compare between RAV4 and Subaru
Thanks. Very hard decision. I have them tied on my rankings.
Ofc Bob Thank you ,I really appreciated your recommend .
Subaru also have Jatco tranny's that fail under 50K miles.
Definitely not honda. Subaru is less reliable than Toyota but has a more capable 4WD system. What's wrong with 4Runner again?
Sorry, fuxk the turbo and CVT, one main reason I traded my 2014 CRV for 2018 RDX, solid V6, 6 speed. 10X better car. I see Honda screwed it all the way, you couldn't get the 2.4 engine on even the LX in 2020.
The engine still mixes gasoline to the oil in colder climate areas?
They added a heating element to eliminate that problem
Good video on the CRV 2020
Thanks!
Honda should have moved that CMBS sensor from just below the HONDA grill emblem to the windshield area like the Subaru's and Mazda's ALSO they should have left the factory Navigation unit available on the EX-L AND Touring!
