How To Custom Paint Your FORD F150 Emblems - In Depth Process With Install
I’ll admit it seemed like a lot of work for a small detail. However, I’m now a believer. It looks sharp and it’s one of those details that when someone notices, they will be impressed. Well done. I think I’ll give it a try with my old, faded emblems on my 2007 F150.
Bringing old emblems back to life is a game changer. Thanks for watching!
Finisher! Great, informative video and I really think the painted badges look badass. Lots of work but well worth it Sam.
Thanks Sergio!
Nice video. One thing to make it easier, the slats in the shutter pop out. If you put a slight bend on them, they will come out. You only need to remove two from each side to gain access to the emblem. Thanks for sharing! Finisher!
Finish'r One of the best how to videos on the web!
Thanks John!
You are dedicated appearance specialists. Gotta respect that. Great video and thanks for sharing.
Thanks Dave!
That white Ford looks great. Love to see it from the side
Just ordered a set of "Decals" to paint. Will be color matching with my charcoal grey and offsetting that with matt black. Should look great. Thanks for the vid, I'll be going back while doing mine for reference. Oh Finisher.
Good tutorial. I just did this after finding the Etsy listing and talking with you about the once T&C offers. Since I already have a pint of my color for touch up it just made sense. My truck is a weekend driver (and has actually been down anyway for other reasons) so I pulled the badges off that were on it and just converted them. Worked well. Thanks for showing your end to end!
Awesome!
Sam I saw your truck at the dealer when I was buying my truck . Looks amazing in person . Subscribed to your channel same day haha . Hopefully next time I’ll get to meet you!
Finisher. Now we know a little bit more why these trucks cost so much. Great job on detailing the process. For those interested, Ford Performance sells the blackout emblems - you can get a pair for $130 or less. PDF instructions are also there too.
That looks real sharp, nice work. I see lots of other people plastic dipping their logo's too. I wonder why nobody plastic dips them, remove what they want to paint, then remove the plastic dip, wouldn't that be easier then removing the entire logo from the tail gate? regardless, the ford badges should just come this way. nice work again.
Love it! super. Doubt anyone can match this presentation. you just saved me a LOOOT of money boys. All the best!
I was afraid to do mine with rattle cans but after seeing how yours turned out I have some confidence in it's ability to do a nice job. Thanks!
It’s pretty good if you can keep the dust down while everything dries.

Glad I saw this full breakdown of how to do this, ordered some online for my dad, its been 5 months of waiting, have yet to get them nor will the company respond, definitely going to cancel it and go this route instead.
That’s a lot of work. I did watch it all.
Took a nap during this video, but it went all the way to the end 🤣
All you need to remove the front emblem is a few zip ties and a right angle flexible extension with the correct size nut driver.
Can you expand on that ? Are you still removing the whole grill assembly?
@@jamesstamps7869 there’s no need to remove the grill if you rig the flex extension and slide it into the grill from the front. This won’t work on a honey comb grill but I have a spot grill with the horizontal slits in the front.
At first I was wondering why you guys were going through all of this work but man the badges you made look much better than the wrapped badges. Well done.
The same process buy done in a fraction of the time...and you don't take apart anything....
ua-cam.com/video/1x-O6vA4v4Y/v-deo.html
I made it to the end, great video. Now if I can find the time and the guts to do it. Mine are wrapped now but man custom paint looks so much better.
You will smile every time you look at your truck.
Finisher I don't know I'd have the patience for this but looks great!
Watching the whole video to the end I think it’s awesome
Thanks Mike!
I’m a finisher. Great information in the video guys
Thanks Red!
Thank you for the tutorial. Doing mine here soon and this was helpful.
Finisher - wow… commitment to detail!! 👊
Gotta set a good example.
I was there to the end. Great video!
Thanks William!
HARBOR FREIGHT for the plastic interior and exterior trim removal tools 5 pack is.like.10 bucks. Works great.built in prying area!!
Great HOW TO video!! Thanks!!
Thanks John!

Thanks General!
Finisher. Nice job fellas!
Thanks Chris!
Looks like a lot of work to go thru.... BUT i must say... IT LOOKS FANTASTIC!!! NICE WORK GUYS!!!
Finisher , that truck looks amazing!
Till the end!!!!! great look guys!
Thanks man!
Awesome video and awesome job! The painted badges look amazing! I was here to the end.
Finisher! Great job guys enjoy watching your videos definitely helps out us 21 f150 guys
Thanks Bobby!
Finisher! Working on mine this wknd. Hoping the matte black lasts a while with no clear to protect it. Chose matte to match the Roush appliqué.
Awesome tutorial guys. I plastidipped mine but really thinking about doing the custom painted pieces. Thanks for the great video. 👍🏻
Good video guys!! Just what I was looking for..
Finisher, nice video
Just did mine & it came out awesome, thanks for another great video guys , looks great on my black 17 lariat
What color did you paint them?
@@BackroadDriver metallic black stainless & tuxedo black like my factory color
I feel like the 18,19,20 F150 design front end looks much better than 2021 just my opinion
Excellent content right here guys. Well done. I'll be doing this for my Bronco for sure.
Thanks Christopher!
Finisher 💪🏻
Thanks Blake!
It's unreal how much work to just paint a badge.... I'll try first to Plastic Dip and Glossifier ... it turns out really cool.
Looks good. I'll bring mine by next week
We can have it done in 20 minutes.
Finisher. Looka amazing
Thanks man!
Finisher! Very informative.
Finisher! Definitely going to do this on my truck vs paying for new ones.
Thanks Guys, enjoyed it!
Truck looks great!!!
Finisher >> Been wanting to do mine for years on all the fords I have owned.
Let’s see ‘em!
I did the same thing to my leadfoot truck...I didn't prep good enough so it got chipped up...so I actually did it all over again...long story short I'm good at talking the front end apart now😂
Second time is usually a charm because nobody wants to do it a 3rd time.
Hey guys, I found an easier way to remove the emblem with the particular grill you have.., you can actually reach your hand through the grill with a 10mm socket without removing anything else. It took me less than 10 minutes. I know you two will have too big of wrists but the average person will not have trouble. My lariat did not have the camera so that may make a difference.
Thanks for the heads up. That camera and the camera washer is in there pretty dang good.
Black Emblems from a 2020 with the blackout package fit, the rear is a direct fit and the front needs minor trimming to fit the camera as the cameras are different.
Looks great but too much to do so mine will stay blue. I did watch till the end!
Finisher. Thanks for the detailed step by step. Debating on whether to do it myself now
that looks awesongreat detailed video
Finisher, very clean job
Thanks Eli!
Finisher! Looks pretty fking good!
Thanks Michael!
Great video, nice detailed walk through
Great video guys
I’m sure I can do it for my Ranger next generation
Thank you
Great video guys. Love the DIY stuff.
Thanks Yota Man!
Finisher looks awesome
Finisher Not bad for a couple hilljacks looks good
Came out so nice!🎉
Considering buying a 2021 or 22 lariat. Thanks for all the info.
I joined by the way.
Thanks Jonathan!
Finsher. Looks great.
Finisher! Good tutorial.
Thanks Randy!
Finisher. That process was so involved I may not do it anymore.
I suggest buying badges.
Awesome
Made it to the end! Great video!
Excellent job!
Looks really good.
I found the vents are actually a lot easier to remove and then you can get in there with a wrench for the final emblem removal
looks great Guys
Thanks Frankie!
This is awesome, thanks guys I’m about to do mine !!
Good luck!
Finisher! I’ve considered doing this to my carbonized gray.
You could get an automotive paint store to make a rattle can and it should be close to perfect.
@@BackroadDriver going to be a spring time project now. Not having a garage sucks
Good informative video. It looks good.
Maybe it's because I'm a vintage tractor nut, but I'm curious how would people react to a truck having a replica Ford tractor badge circa 1955ish, which were actually bright red(search ford 8n tractor to see an example). If the truck is red already, it may look really nice and be a little easter egg.
The more custom the better and it will have a great story!
Looks great. Very informative
Finisher 💯
Thanks Nacho!
Looks good stands out
Thanks man!
I would never use regular super glue due to the white residue especially in a more humid location like Florida. Non acetone or epoxy for the win.
Finisher!!! Thanks for the tutorial.
interesting for the love of trucks.
.
Finished it. 🤜
Thanks man!
Well done!
Great video, love your contents.
Nice! When are you going to put the oil catch can back on? Mine was a little milkshake color at 3000 miles. Truck badges look really nice.
It's already back on. You can see it hiding in the video if you look close.
Here to the End. I didn't know you could use your points.
Yes sir!
Finisher!
Thanks Brandon!
Finish her! Hahaha definitely the way to go and I will be trying this for sure! Do you know, if the emblem is without the camera, if you can just remove the hood latch like you can on the 20 and below?
Not sure…
Awesome video
FINISHER!!!!
Thanks Terry!
@@BackroadDriver You guys are most welcome! I’ve been enjoying your content due to me having a ‘22 Lariat on order and wanting to do a little extra to it. I am glad y’all found that garage that was airtight and has never had a vehicle in it doing burnouts or anything like that! Keep up the great content fellas.
AWESOME 👌
Finisher great video guys I am going to be buying new emblems for my 2022 and was curious how to get this all apart
I love it!!!
👍
I want your old badges,Finisher
Questions about the grill the 2 large sections on the lariat grill. If I wanted to paint that or wrap it. How hard would it be to remove those? From the video they looked like they are pressed in via push tabs.
They appear to be push tabes. Any good wrap shop should be able to wrap it on the truck. It would have to come apart to paint it.
@@BackroadDriver thank you. I’ve been debated on if I should wrap mine or paint it. This helps a lot.
Has the repainted emblems held up. Noticed this was done 2 years ago. I am thinking of buy some door handle covers for my Ranger and painting them Lightning Blue same color as truck. They are a meteor gray I think. Was wondering how they this process would hold up on door handles.
Thanks for the video. I was wanting to do the very thing you did but I'm wanting to match the blue parts of the badge to my stock 20" satin gray SPORT rims.
But my bigger question is, what did you do to the DLR light trim on the headlights?? I'm wanting to black out the chrome trim on my XLT with the quad LED headlights. That chrome just doesn't go with the rest of the truck. Is it tint film on the inside? Does the DLR still shine through? I'd love to insert a picture but can't on these comments!
It is tint. It's not regular tint for windows though it's specially made for headlights and tail lights. It is flexible like vehicle wrap material. I started with the entire headlight being wrapped but it cut out too much light. The material is thick enough that you can take a blade and score a line in the tint around the DRLs. It won't cut into the headlight if you do it right and then you can peel the excess away for the perfect look.
@@BackroadDriver Thanks. What is the product called? Was it applied on the inside or outside of the lens?
It goes on the outside of the lens. Here is a link. metrorestyling.com/products/luxe-lightwrap-gloss-smoke-headlight-taillight-film
Finisher!! That sticker that you pulled off the front badge, where did you get it? That's what I've been looking for...a sticker to go over the existing logo
Etsy. Cheap and easy but not as clean. Still not a bad option.
