The mail carrier won't like that bolt head sticking up. Maybe a carriage bolt stove bolt - something with a round head that can be held or screwed with a screwdriver of ratcht bit.
Thanks so much for this! Our stand is built like this, but everyone has their box nailed in. I’m going to do this method with mine because I won’t be able to put in my bigger box in securely otherwise!
Great video. I have to retro -fit 6 mailboxes that are coming loose, fastened the old way.I was thinking about bolts. This gives me a altenate way of fixing. In Minnesota, the weather can be harsh on all items that are outside. Thanks again.
I like the 2 x 6 frame set up but I do not like driving the bolt through the bottom of the mailbox. I would attach the bottom of the mailbox to a piece of 2 x 6 which is attached to a small piece of 4 x 4 underneath like a “T” and slide the 4 x 4 part between the 2 x 6’s part of the frame. Then drive a bolt through the 2 x 6 frame and the 4 x 4 in the middle. Remove that bolt and you could lift the mailbox assembly from the frame. Great idea though.
I love your video I'm going to totally do this but I have one question, is that one long single screw from the mailbox to the lower piece of wood? If so can you give me an idea of what kind of screw you used?
Ok nice now what about the wasps spiders ants even with pressure treated wood. We found 4 baby scorpions 🦂 in the mailbox. Bugs and pestilence are getting worse and worse.

What a fabulous idea! Thanks for sharing. I'm getting ready to build one with my neighbors and your idea will be perfect!
