Game room updates for Christmas 2021!
A few weeks ago, I sold my Marvel Vs. Capcom cabinet and brought home Arcade1UP’s new Simpsons machine. As you can see, the Hylo-hacked MVSX plays the Marvel/Capcom fighters perfectly, so the only downside is that I’m losing access to Arcade1UP’s online MVC community, which is way more active than the online player base for Simpsons. That said, it’s mostly expert-level online play these days for the fighters-and I’m definitely not that-so I’m not grieving too hard.
For Christmas, my wife gifted me ArcadeGameFactory’s deluxe Tempest marquee, which I’ve installed in my Atari Legacy cabinet. It’s way more vibrant than the disappointment that is Arcade1UP’s stock marquee… maybe a little too vibrant! On balance though, it’s far more accurate to the form-factor of an original Tempest cab, so it’s definitely an improvement.
Also check out that sweet Samus helmet light (another Christmas gift from my wife, who’s made it into something of a tradition to add new lighted signs to the game room.)
Lastly… on Christmas Eve, I finally passed my previous Donkey Kong personal best! It took nearly the entire year, but I jumped from 216,300 to 272,300. Suffice to say, I’m very happy with the news score!
