Triumph 20 has been my go to shoe this year. About to hit 500 mles in that shoe. Not many shoes that creep into the max cusion catagory that I enjoy taking for long runs during marathon prep. Mostly because the Triumph 20 has enough energy return that I can still throw in some marathon pace work in the long run
I remember a time when every Saucony shoe felt horrible. It was either discomfort from the upper, the midsole, or the combination of the two. But oh man, Saucony has been improving in every way. Love the endorphin series. I would also say that Asics is making a comeback as well.
No.1 Triumph 20 - amazing shoe using it for daily/long runs no.2 Asics novablast 3 daily trainer for me but i can pick up the pace in it and feel comfortable and no.3 my race day shoe endorphin PRO 3, littlebit more of a plattform to land on for me as a slower runner it’s great.
Saucony Tempus for sure! Long runs, tempo runs, daily miles. NB 1080 v12 and FF More would complete the trifecta. Honorable mention is the Hurricane 23 from a few years back. When your legs and feet are wrecked and need cushion and support they’re amazing.
Saucony Triumph 20, kinvara 14 and Nike Epic React fly knit ( 2018) 2019 find at Ross Dress for Less for $40.00. Still going strong after 4 years and many miles.
Asics Noosa 14 for daily miles and workouts on the roads, Saucony Endorphin Speed 3 for long runs and racing on the roads, and the New Balance Summit Unknown for all trail running (can't leave that out 😁)
QD: Saucony endorphin speed 3: The changes for me made it better and can do everything even easy runs. ASICS Superblast: can’t get enough especially long runs and moderate to marathon pace runs! SC Trainer: Smooth on easy runs plus has my favorite upper Honorable mention: Endorphin pro 3: It’s an honorable since I haven’t ran a marathon in it yet (Pittsburgh on may 7th) but taking on a test run. It’s the speed on steroids! Love it! Haha
I have found I can't wear Saucony. I bought the speed 3's. Love them for 5 to 10km but once I get above 15km they blister the side of my heels on both feet. I went to get something different yesterday as they were ment to be my half marathon shoe. Tried the Triumphs. They were tight on the heel straight away. Walked out with a pair of Novablast 3. 3 weeks till the marathon. Fingers crossed no issues with this shoe. They did feel good for the 8km run I went on last night.
I used to watch HesKicks for shoe reviews from a casual perspective but now this is my go to for not only the shoe reviews, but also the daily motivation to just get up, run, train, and feel positive. Thank you.
1. Rebel v3 - easy, tempo, daily and 5k races and casual. Up to 15k runs. 2. Speed 3 - same as rebel plus longer runs and races and trail races on packed trails. 3. Prime X Strung - ultimate long run shoe and race shoe. Some stability issues but ok once you get used to being so far off the ground 😂 Honorable mention is Nb elite v3... Very stable and responsive for faster training and racing.
I was big on (1) Glideride 3 for long runs (looking forward to the 4, (2) Endorphin SPEED 2 for speed days (soon to be replaced by the ASICS Magic Speed 2 in my rotation), (3) Race Day - Vaporfly 2, I got my first pair fairly recently after trying a few other carbon shoes and for me it's the best - I can see what the fuss was about.
QOD: Good morning from 35,000ft flying over New Mexico and watching DGR! My top 3: 1. Nike Vaporfly Next% 3 2. Saucony Endorphin speed 3 3.HOKA Clifton 9
I would say Novablast 3 (possibly Nova2 if I am on a budget) for daily training and flexibility Asics Superblast for long runs, recovery, and even running races in. Saucony Speed 3. Again, I love the versatility in shoes. Can pick up the pace in it, but also can put miles on it for grinding away! If I only get 3, I want shoes that aren’t specific to something, like the Nimbus or Vaporfly.
I run in the Tempus love it. Went out on a whim with my tri club and ran 22 miles and glided along. The only trainer that I havent ripped through the outsole in a matter of months ❤
Altra Escalante 3, Altra Torin 5 Luxe, and Altra Escalante Racer. Prefer zero drop and wide toe box. First two are daily trainers and the last is for more speed. Used Kinvara back in the day, but recent iterations have been too narrow for me.
I'd probably be all in on the Tempus if my feet were less flat. But max stability is the way for me so I tend to stick to Kayano. Which they are improving so that's good. The 29 has FF Blast + in the forefoot and it's really nice.
Absolutely no surprises here, I picked up the Trinoosa 14 for €62 in a mad sale online at Christmas, best bargain yet. Need to replace the Novablast with something less clunky for long runs, might give the Triumph 20 a go
QD: - Adidas Adizero Adios 6 ( my best fastest shoe ,better then some with carbon) ; - Asics Gel-Nimbus 24 ( best daily trainer, super comfortable ,nimble and bouncy) ; - Adidas Solar Glide 5 ( my heaviest running shoes ever, but they're so comfortable, with an extremely satisfying running flow and despite the weight, I can pickup the pace if I need to) . Honor mention would be a light weight stability shoe : Asics Kayano Lite 3.
Hello, Seth James. I would like to know what your favorite treadmill running shoe is and if ye have some advice for treadmill running. I am around 90kg
I bought the Tempus for extra stability and support but have to say I'm really disappointed with them after 50km. Coming from the Saucony Speed 2, these shoes just felt really cumbersome and slow. They also pushed up into the arch of my foot making them uncomfortable.
QD: oof, that’s a tough one. 1.) Asics Novablast 3 2.) Saucony endorphin pro 3 And a big surprise to me 3.) the Asics gel nimbus 25. That shoe REALLY surprised me.
QD: NB SC Trainer and Rebel V3. I wore out my V3’s so I’m rotating my Rebel V2 with the SC Trainers at the moment. I have wide feet and New Balance works best for me with their 2ee options
Long run/workhorse: Sauc Tempus; great shoe with just the stability I need on tired legs. Speed/tempo work: Topo Cyclone 2; used to be the NB Rebel v2, but forefoot is too constrictive. Topo is basically a clone with a wider footshaped upper. Racing: puma deviate nitro elite (only own v1); light weight, great midfoam but mostly: extremely natural and stable feel during the run. I control the shoe, and not other way around giving me ailments.
For us, the saucony endorphine line has immensely assisted with our feet. #3 the shift for long easy runs #2 the speed for reps or even races #1 /the speed for races and even reps. Honorable mention the hoka carbon x Fyi the Noosa from asics look cool
Odd but true - my best pick in 22 for a road shoe is... Pegasus Trail³ 😮 Yes, I found it better than the "road" Pegasus. Well, it has beaten all road shoes! 😅 Very nice midsole, very neutral outsole make it a great all-rounder. Well, it's just not my first choice for... trails 😂 If u ask me to name a real road shoe I purchased in 22 and really (start to) like : Saucony Speed¹ (better late than never;)
Hey Seth, in the video material, when you mention the weight of the Triumph 20 shoes, you signed them as Kinvara 14, from which it can be concluded that the Kinvara 14 weighs 8.8 oz / 249 g. This may confuse someone, especially since the Kinvara 14 are actually much lighter (6.7 oz / 189 g).
NB V4 for easy days. It's my go to shoe right now. No matter how tired my legs are I just love running in the More V4. Puma Deviate Nitro Elite for my track sessions only (Wear my V4's to jog to the track) and either Vapor/Alphafly for racing. I will use the Vapors to do track sessions as well, but the Nitro Elite takes my track sessions to another level.
Nick! Hope you see this one! I love the Escalante racer and am on my 2nd pair. I've picked up the brooks hyperion max and is a great shoe to pair with the racer. It's pretty light and more cushioned but it's not overly soft like a lot of shoes today. Can easily be a tempo and long run trainer. I use it as a workout shoe and my Escalante racers are my daily trainers
QOD: 1 Noosa tri 14 2 Saucony endorphin pro 3 3 Altra torins 5 (orange creamsicle color way) Love doing easy and recovery runs in the torins. Torins 6 had horrible colors, so I'd rather take the break in period of the 5s on the tongue than the washed out colors of 6.

Seth, I have the Glycerin 20 for the easy/recovery days. Love it. Recently bought the Mach 5 for the tempo/intervals days. I’ve been thinking about the Triumph 20 for the Marathon-pace long runs that are coming. Does it make sense? Does the Triumph and the Glycerin fight for the same kind of run? (I am 68kg, going for my third Marathon in Buenos Aires, September). Greetings from Rio! Thanks a lot!
@Adrian Awis. Thanks I was curious about the difference as I picked Glycerin 20 over Triumph. Now thinking of getting a pair of Triumphs as well because while I love Glycerin a lot, I feel it doesn’t offer me the cushioning for my longer runs.
Thank you, Adrian. So you think it makes sense…? Actually, I am still waiting for the Speed 3 here in Brasil, but it never comes… Don’t even know if changing my mind from the Speed 3/Mach 5/Glycerin 20 to Triumph/Mach 5/Glycerin 20 is reasonable… Speed 3 vs Triumph??? LOL
QD: Brooks Glycerin 20 for daily trainer. Brooks Hyperion Max for speed days. Nike Vaporfly Next %2 for racing. Not a new model but picked up this year at a 30% discount!!
QOD: my top three for the past year is a Saucony sweep! Tempus for my daily trainer, Speed 3 that could also be a daily trainer but I use it more for up tempo days and the Elite for race day! I had the pleasure of testing the Elite recently and I think this just may replace Vaporfly for my racing shoe….I said what I said! 😂
Aren't the streak and taksen basically in the same category of shoes? Would choose one of both as a tempo trainer/small distance racer and add a plated racer...
@@jeroen1989 Absolutely, true. But I'm not trying to plate-race, I'm trying to stay long on trails (Streakfly) & short on roads (TakSen). Then again, I'm old...
Saucony Endorphin Pro 3 amazing energy return and great race day shoe. ASICS Noosa Tr14 most comfortable daily trainer and great for speed sessions as well. Saucony triumph 20 classic long run shoe and will protect your legs.
For me the best shoe by far last year was the NB SC trainer. I absolutely love this shoe on my second pair now and am hoping the next version doesn't change it too terribly much. The feel and roll of this shoe are honestly un paralleled to me just an absolute joy to run in. My second one would be for speed days and probably racing as well it would be the Adidas Takumi Sen - now I am not sure when it came out but I bought it in the fall I think I have the 8 but the 9 is the same shoe from every reviewer so I am counting it - my gosh what a shoe this is I have moved over to do all my track work in them - light and bouncy but stiff enough to give some propulsion as well. Last I debate a bit but I am gonna go Easy and use the More v4 (debated the Nimbus 25 here as well) both shoes are soft and a great easy run shoe - I like the little extra rocker in the More but love both
Saucony shoes are for people that have many shoes a nig rotations, but have many problems, durability is very bad , the traction is bad to! And the prices are mid to high and outside Usa are hard to find and very expensive. Ues are cushioned, light and have good energy retrin but only to last 200/300 miles is a nad realtion price quality!!!
Triumph 20 has been my go to shoe this year. About to hit 500 mles in that shoe. Not many shoes that creep into the max cusion catagory that I enjoy taking for long runs during marathon prep. It's wild how much they have improved!

I love my Noosa Tri 14. I bought the Noosa after my Rebel V2 ripped after 60 miles and New Balance wouldn’t replace them.
QD: Saucony Endorphin Speed,Pro, and the Ride. Been on a Saucony kick this last year.

doh. late night editing. appreciate the catch.
Are long runs done at easy pace ?
Noosa Tri (super versatile), Triumph (easy & long days), Endorphin Pro 3 (workouts and racing)
It’s going to be hard to improve on the Noosa 14 but it could be easy to mess up a good thing. Will certainly be interesting to see the 15
descriptions just spoiled it :/
Hoka Mach 5, NB Supercomp Trainer,, Adidas Adios Pro 3
You weighed the Triumph 20 but then put the Kinvara 14 on the screen.
Asics Glideride-3 for comfort and durability. I have 390 miles on mine and only now have semi retired them. Great on long runs.
NB V4 for easy days. It's my go to shoe right now. No matter how tired my legs are I just love running in the More V4. Last I debate a bit but I am gonna go Easy and use the More v4 (debated the Nimbus 25 here as well) both shoes are soft and a great easy run shoe - I like the little extra rocker in the More but love both
Endorphin Speed 3; Novablast 3 and Glycerin 20 in that order.
Mach 5, triumph 20, and any played Saucony.
I am one of Saucony's sponsors
Saucony shoes are for people that have many shoes a nig rotations, but have many problems, durability is very bad , the traction is bad to! And the prices are mid to high and outside Usa are hard to find and very expensive. Ues are cushioned, light and have good energy retrin but only to last 200/300 miles is a nad realtion price quality!!!
hope you're well Matt!
