    Once upon a time....I danced...and danced...and danced... Now a few eras later, I am house bound during the COVID 19 pandemic. No gym, too much stress from work and getting fat. I woke up and said: “Dance” that alone can help me. It’s not just the discipline, it’s the joy of art. The joy of moving to music. I’m loving these classes... Classical ballet had left my life a long time ago... glad to be back. One step at a time)) Thank you.

    Wonderful! I’m a mom of three little kids coming back to dance after years of not dancing. I rarely can find the time to run to a ballet class. So having top notch videos such as these to use in my home is golden! Thank you! Keep them coming!

    This is honestly amazing. I've always loved and admired ballet but haven't taken a class since I was six years old. I try to incorporate ballet and other forms of dance into my workouts, but i usually have no idea what I'm doing. I recently began working out again and i am absolutely in love with this series!! I can't wait for next week's video, the last two kicked my butt! I think I've finally found a workout I love! Thank you Royal Ballet!!!

    I love these! Back to basic classes remind me that small details in the movements matter. I’ve been dancing for almost a year after not dancing since I was a little girl. Can you do one on the best stretches before to warm up and after ? Also, is that shirt for sale?

    which is the name of the song of the plies exercise?

  • @SLAVEforLISA

    Why are her arms almost demi second for the rond de jambe. I noticed that Tara demonstrated in a true second. Is the Royal making their port de bras more like the Romantic era?

    • @BrigitteBallet
      @BrigitteBallet 7 років тому +3

      Good spot! Dancers will adjust their port de bras to suit them and their proportions, especially in class. But we must be versatile and able to easily adapt when it comes to different choreography/styles in the Royal Ballet repertoire! Tara

      By the way, the Royal creates a lot of discussion because of their port de bras. Thanks for the explanation.

      It's an improvisation on the 2nd movement from Beethoven's piano sonata no.8. ua-cam.com/video/SrcOcKYQX3c/v-deo.html

  • @esstown

    Why do ballet teachers call out the combinations? It spoils the music and just ruins the whole feeling of the movement. The exercise is shown before hand, what's the reason to shout it out again all through?

  • @sothathappened

    I can't do this. I have no idea where I'm going to find a pianist, much less being able to fit a piano in my apartment!

    I don't mean to be overly critical but it's a pity the dancer has such serious expression. What draws most people to ballet is the beauty of it but I just don't get that sense of beauty from this video. Also I think demonstrating such deep side bends for beginners is too advanced. Most beginners don't have the strength or the body awareness to execute deep side bends safely. I'm posting these comments only as feedback to improve what is an admirable initiative by Royal Ballet.
