Huge power is vital, to reach those speeds, and huge power produces huge sound levels. Twenty years later, they still cannot produce another flying machine, that can do what Concorde did, any quieter or cleaner.
Absolutely Beautiful Machine.... She'll always be Number 1, I still struggle to believe that in her 34 years & 100% safety record she's gone because of 1 accident that wasn't even her fault.... a crying shame!!! R.I.P all those who perished on Air France 4590 on 25th July 2000
Gentlemen, Thanks for posting such a nice video of Concorde, its take me back in September 1995, when I flown on BA Concorde flight (special promotion flight for Travel Agents only) from Jeddah to London in just 3:30 hours where else a normal Boeing flight journey is 9 hours
Such a shame that a beautiful airplane was wasted in that manor. One of the safest airline types ever produced, most beautiful ever produced, and most well-known ever produced. Very much a shame that it was wasted like this. retired very much before it's time
The pilots must have been tempted to request a go-around. Just to be able to ram home the throttles on those 4 reheating Olympus engines and feel the Concorde surge one last time!
Beautiful footage, love the sound also. Too bad about the narrator spoiling the airwaves in the background. Save us your sentiments. It was obvious to anyone present that this was indeed Concorde's final landing.
Aaah... the pride of Bristol, loved and revered, what a wonderful familiar sound to gladden the heart... I refer of course to John Turner of Radio Bristol :P
They weren't "grounded b/c of one accident", they were grounded due to a design fault which left them highly vulnerable to tire-blowouts. 52 blowouts in 24 years, 29 of which damaged fuel tanks.... and like always in aviation: nothing was seriously done about it until lives were lost. Had that vulnerability been addressed back in 1979 when it first happened (badly!) then we'd probebly have seen Concorde fly much further into this decade than she did.
That's completely untrue: AA's worst accident ever (AA191) saw that airline have to ground its entire DC10 fleet (as well as every airline's DC10s) due to a design fault concerning hydraulic line placement. They weren't allowed to fly again until the problem (both structurally and maintenance-wise) was rectified. Try again bub.
it was expenses, economy class of concorde costed close to first class on regular aircrafts, hence not many people were able to afford it, it used alot more fuel because it went on supersonic speeds, plus not many airports were prepared to handle concordes as concorde required that no buildings be close to the runway..some plz add on and increase my knowledge too..one thing for sure tho..she was a gorgeous bird..!!
Hey, you missed the 'for now' on the end of there. Am I the only one who's hopeful that there will be improvements in technologies, and whole new scientific discoveries maybe in our lifetimes, maybe hundreds of years from now, that will make Concorde a worthy first chapter in a very long story, not the end. And anyone who might be inclined to list me some reasons why I'm a fool for hoping that might have misunderstood the concept of 'hope'.
i flew on concorde in 1996 and got to go in the cockpit. Pilot told me then they were going to be out of service within 10 yrs. I nicked theemergency escape pamphlet that was in the seat pocket and the duty free book as a souvenier hahaha
from my point of view......just because of one crash they stop the concorde service for good. Actually it was not concorde mistake at all, it was continental debris on the runaway...... well continental from USA.....This is the flying machine ever built in the universe........wish to make it to fly again it's not impossible.....
It was a shame they ever took such a sucessful plane out of service, only due to pollution, noise and cost. If only BA etc could have put a bit of funds into updating Concorde. But who knows, whats the next supersonic transportation going to be? However I don't think anything will come as close to the beauty of Concorde. Speedbird.... Live on.
It was somewhat of a shame to see the concorde be taken out of service, but I heard on the news it's fate was due to a decline in revenue against a backdrop of rising fuel and maintainence costs.
...or, you could have half a clue and figure out that there were MANY additional components that led to both the crash and the eventual retirement, than just a piece of metal from a DC10.
Airbus only supplied parts. This is a creation of BAC/Aeropastiale, long before Airbus was even born. Whether Airbus convinced BA and AF to dump Concorde is a different matter entirely.
Not to me mean or anything but the last land of the Condcorde was at Washington Dulles International Airport in Northern Virginia were the last Condcorde is setting in the air and space museum there and i was there for that and THAT WAS THE TRUE LAST LANDING
They've all been officially decommissioned. All hydraulics systems have been disconnected therefore, no rudder or wing control. There are rumors of maybe in the future reconnecting them (is that even possible?) and fly them, but for now, it's future is to be posing as a monument.
@BringEllisTheHoriZon damn. i'll check it out mate. i heard from many pilots that supersonic flight won't really happen at this time due to costs etc. and also BA and AF couldnt wait to stop flying it because it was so xpensive to run and governments had to support their usage. also, isnt the technology out of date?
i dont see funding as an issue here as richard branson of the virgin empire, was willing to buy the fleet and fund it but for some mysterious reason was refused. If jealousy is not a factor explain why the us could not except concorde and had to try and build their own version of it.
i knew the designer was a brit but i didnt know the name. i think that constitutes as more evidence to show that the americans cant do anything well without british intervention
exactly and this is what ive said for a while... spitfires, lancaster bombers and now vulcan can fly at shows although they are officially retired....why not concorde.
the thing was that they where very expensive to maintain, they consumed a lot of fuel and there flights after the crash where practically empty....it's a petty though.....
Technically Concorde was far from a failure. It received a number of technologies which are now on board of modern airliners. Only it did this years maybe decades before. It was atechnological marvel, killed by economics, yes maybe. About the A380 how could one call it worhless, I wonder?! Yes, it is more of a classic airliner, but technically it is quite amazing. Do you work in the aero sector?
how shit is it when that guys head gets in the way. wouldve been a top notch video too. its still amazing all the same i guess though. concord was really something!
Good point, and dont get me wrong i dont like this government any more than i like the us government, but i still think there is more than just money here.
@jackmnsadler LMAO AT THE CURRENT ECONOMY when they can barely keep their current planes you think a concorde would ever happen again anytime soon? lawl
Bottom line is the Americans is afraid of being left behind in the technology......concorde is the best jet ever fly in the universe and the technology eventhough almost 60 years of age but it still can perform well untill now. It's only an excuse from one crash and totally put them to stop. in fact from the 1st prototype till the crash, only one in the record and that is consider best history of aviation. Nowadays Boeing and Airbus facing big problem in producing the aircraft, lots of delay.
Calm down I'm only joking. Maybe you should get used to 'Idiots' on UA-cam. These tend to be people who begin comments with 'yeah'. To be honest I wouldn't bother taking their comments seriously.
Also, im a UK tax payer and if u was to ask most here... i think u would find, people would rather be funding concorde with their tax money, rather than a war, which america started.
I guess I have copyrighted comments because I still don't see them about asking if that was a fokker 50 flyby after the landing. That would be funny to be ejected from youtube just by making a comment.
The Brit's are sensitive, they should be, flying the greatest plane ever built. How is it possible to not keep this amazing bird flying? Aviation is the only field where mankind took a giant leap backwards, retiring the greatest aviation invention of all time? Idiotic!
Which only happened because some passengers began to doubt Concorde after that 1 accident and started using other Airlines instead, inevitably BA & AF started losing a little profit & so decided to dump the entire fleet.... the sorry sons of Bitches! Concorde, still the most gorgeous machine ever built by the hand of man & the only Aircraft of its kind is gone forever all because of that 1 accident that wasn't even her fault! BA & AF were making plenty of profit on her before & up to that crash!
Jesus Christ, I could look at a UA-cam video about puppies and it'd have someone arguing over something. Why do people have balls on the internet? I've never seen ONE youtube video without people getting into it. Geesh, relax.
She may have been noisy but she was the most elegant and beautiful plane ever built. The ppl of Britain still miss her!
Huge power is vital, to reach those speeds, and huge power produces huge sound levels. Twenty years later, they still cannot produce another flying machine, that can do what Concorde did, any quieter or cleaner.
awesome sound for that camera...I love it....the deep bass as he passes for landing. Had both sub woofers going and it shook the house.
Goodbye, Concorde :'(
What a majestic and beautiful plane
What a beautiful plane. :) Still so sad to know it no longer flies.
Flew British Airways Concorde 14 times. A beautiful aircraft. I have my memories.
Absolutely Beautiful Machine.... She'll always be Number 1, I still struggle to believe that in her 34 years & 100% safety record she's gone because of 1 accident that wasn't even her fault.... a crying shame!!!

simply amazing and beatiful plane ! Looks like it's surfing !
The pilots must have been tempted to request a go-around. Just to be able to ram home the throttles on those 4 reheating Olympus engines and feel the Concorde surge one last time!
i still miss seeing the British and the French Concorde aircraft.
Beautiful footage, love the sound also. Too bad about the narrator spoiling the airwaves in the background. Save us your sentiments. It was obvious to anyone present that this was indeed Concorde's final landing.
It was a official recording of a historic scene, hence the Spitfire fly past as a tribute.
Great final touch! the Spitfire and the roll of victory =)
Couldn't agree more!
BRING BACK THE CONCORDE!
Aaah... the pride of Bristol, loved and revered, what a wonderful familiar sound to gladden the heart... I refer of course to John Turner of Radio Bristol :P
My birthday...
my brothers birthday was on the very day concorde took her last passengers for the final time on the 24th october...
Concorde shows that when they want, English and French people can do something together and do great , rare but true !

Try again bub.
That noise of the spitfire going past along with the sound of concorde made me have a very naughty accident ;)
it's so fabulous!! I wish I was been there :/
@sgtmact I agree with you! our two contries ruled the world of aviation for a while! greetings.
what is the plane that after landing ?
it was expenses, economy class of concorde costed close to first class on regular aircrafts, hence not many people were able to afford it, it used alot more fuel because it went on supersonic speeds, plus not many airports were prepared to handle concordes as concorde required that no buildings be close to the runway..some plz add on and increase my knowledge too..one thing for sure tho..she was a gorgeous bird..!!
El unico avion digno de admirar

This is NOT the very last landing of Concorde! It WILL fly again someday!
Yes never say never. Thats the spirit
go the concorde!!!!
why???did they bend the concorde from flying?
Yes!
from my point of view......just because of one crash they stop the concorde service for good. Actually it was not concorde mistake at all, it was continental debris on the runaway...... well continental from USA.....This is the flying machine ever built in the universe........wish to make it to fly again it's not impossible.....
Clare and I were there...what a sad day. On the plus side at least she drowned out that commentator for a few moments!!
We really Miss U ... :-/
A wonderful bird and a very sad day for British aviation.
Live on.
Nice shot of the guys head lol
i think that this is not only the last landing of a BA concorde, but the last landing of ANY concorde? Not 100% sure ....
Never say never. Watch the space whilst financial hurdles remain put
It was somewhat of a shame to see the concorde be taken out of service, but I heard on the news it's fate was due to a decline in revenue against a backdrop of rising fuel and maintainence costs.
concorde was airworthy till 2009 and then it cud retake its test, probably stretch to 2012
Goobye,Concorde :( We will miss you;....
the prop flyby, was that a fokker 50?
...or, you could have half a clue and figure out that there were MANY additional components that led to both the crash and the eventual retirement, than just a piece of metal from a DC10.
i can believe it, but someone has the technology, and surely parts are more available than a V plane.
Airbus only supplied parts. This is a creation of BAC/Aeropastiale, long before Airbus was even born. Whether Airbus convinced BA and AF to dump Concorde is a different matter entirely.
I LOVE THIS PLANE AND I'M SURE YOU DO IF SO GOOGLE:
bring back concorde co cc
THIRD LINK DOWN THERES A PETITION TO RETURN HER TO FLIGHT
What happened to all the proposed US supersonic passenger planes they bragged about?
Did they lose the key to the hangar?
Oh I Am Sooo With You On That One Brother!
Did You Check Out That Womansliberation Bollocks....
concorde, such a short life
Not to me mean or anything but the last land of the Condcorde was at Washington Dulles International Airport in Northern Virginia were the last Condcorde is setting in the air and space museum there and i was there for that and THAT WAS THE TRUE LAST LANDING
bring it back - conditions are right now, it is time to reintroduce it
what a plane i miss it :'( y was it takin off?
what's going on with youtube....I added this vid to my favs for the 3rd time and it still don't show....my comments to this vid don't show either
They've all been officially decommissioned. All hydraulics systems have been disconnected therefore, no rudder or wing control. There are rumors of maybe in the future reconnecting them (is that even possible?) and fly them, but for now, it's future is to be posing as a monument.
Although alot of manpower needed. Its technically possible
@BringEllisTheHoriZon damn. i'll check it out mate. i heard from many pilots that supersonic flight won't really happen at this time due to costs etc. and also BA and AF couldnt wait to stop flying it because it was so xpensive to run and governments had to support their usage. also, isnt the technology out of date?

the last flight was on my birthday :)
Actually it was a DC-10
How did the Americans help design Concorde? It was an Anglo-Franco project.
actually, it does
i knew the designer was a brit but i didnt know the name.
i think that constitutes as more evidence to show that the americans cant do anything well without british intervention
theres only one class on concorde
thats better than any first class ticket
thats the CONCORDE CLASS
@DPUO And taking off one ton over MTOW. And overfueling the fuel tanks. And missing spacers in the landing gears...
exactly and this is what ive said for a while... spitfires, lancaster bombers and now vulcan can fly at shows although they are officially retired....why not concorde.
@DKF22 watch this space mate!
INSTANT BUTTER 1:41
the thing was that they where very expensive to maintain, they consumed a lot of fuel and there flights after the crash where practically empty....it's a petty though.....
yeah he blocked my view when i was trying to look at the concorde.
😭😭😭😭😢😢😢😢😢
Conocrde
it even looks like a bird coming into land!
lovely video of some guys shoddy haircut
i blame health and safety XD but, would you rather have a bigger chance of dying on a plane or a small chance of dying?
Technically Concorde was far from a failure. It received a number of technologies which are now on board of modern airliners. Only it did this years maybe decades before. It was atechnological marvel, killed by economics, yes maybe. About the A380 how could one call it worhless, I wonder?! Yes, it is more of a classic airliner, but technically it is quite amazing. Do you work in the aero sector?
And your point is..... ????
ok..
Commentator is great, better throw a bucket of gold water over him :)
Stupid DC-10 and it’s debris
the DC-10 is known as the Concorde killer to most...
how shit is it when that guys head gets in the way. wouldve been a top notch video too. its still amazing all the same i guess though. concord was really something!
no actually the Boeing 2707 design was much later than concorde and was scrapped because russia, and Britain/France beat you to it
Good point, and dont get me wrong i dont like this government any more than i like the us government, but i still think there is more than just money here.
its huge and blocking
@jackmnsadler

@reluctable you are not a fool :)
god its sad somthing ells the brits have and lost we made the best and it has been killed off from one crash that the plane was not at falt for :(
4. Possible little back handers from us government to ensure its retirement?
yeah the BRITISH built the plane, but the French designed the seat moquettes. A.K.A Anglo-French aircraft.
:)
Funny we are kinda like pen pals with out the pal. You have a good day to, this stops here.
the line was close cuz an accident, AmericanAirlines had lots of accidents and never close.... open fucking concorde
Calm down I'm only joking. Maybe you should get used to 'Idiots' on UA-cam. These tend to be people who begin comments with 'yeah'.
To be honest I wouldn't bother taking their comments seriously.

i would dump my girlfriend to bring the concorde back

I guess my comments gotta pass copyright status with youtube....you know what youtube....kiss my ass!

well keep it in europe, coz together we own, we brits do sometimes need support to keep away all that bloody stupid red tape.
Which only happened because some passengers began to doubt Concorde after that 1 accident and started using other Airlines instead, inevitably BA & AF started losing a little profit & so decided to dump the entire fleet.... the sorry sons of Bitches!
