I was very lucky to fly on Concorde what a beautiful aircraft and a wonderful experience to arrive at JFK in such a short time from London Heathrow However , we did have to go around on arrival, the power of Concorde pulling up at the last moment was breathtaking also the calmness of the BA pilot announcing that although they had been cleared to land he was sorry they had to abort the landing as he had spotted on approach, that there was still an aircraft still on the runway.
@@f4fwildcat29 the DC-10 actually had a comparable safety record to other widebody aircraft of the time (B747, A300), but it had a few high-profile crashes which dampened it's public safety perception, especially because of the original flaw in the cargo door.
In April 1996, I had applied to be an air traffic controller. As part of the process you had to visit some towers. I was in NYC for a few days, and a family friend who was a Concorde stewardess arranged for me to have a visit to the tower while she was on a stopover. It was a great visit, but I never appreciated Concorde. I was more of a Viscount man. That was until I saw Concorde take off from the tower. What a beautiful sight it was. It was also a retirement flight for the captain, and the JFK controllers paid their respects. I was very impressed. What a plane it was.
Awesome I was UAL Capt and watched after stopping to honor them.
When other aircraft request a delay you know that is a special aircraft.
My favorite part is all the other flights needing to hold position for "troubleshooting".
This shows how much Concorde was loved.

Wonderful last departure, so polite yet sad.
Blame the DC-10 for the demise of the Concorde for leaving part of their plane on the runway in Paris.
Oh my god I forgot it was a DC-10. Seriously though??? That POS... It has more blood on its hands than I realized
i agree the dc-10 might look good but it was a piece of junk it lost parts and crashed alot and look what happened rip Concorde

You think the concorde would be here today if that part wasn't on the runway?
Concorde dumped after one fatal crash, DC-10, blood drips down the aisles. Shocking that it destroyed an icon.

Really neat to hear...kind of sad...
How the time flies by ( no pun intended) 7 BA + 6 AF magnificent planes have been dearly missed from the skies now for 11yrs.
6:45 The American saying "cheerio" and the Brit saying "Have a nice day"...shouldn't that be the other way round? :-)
Hi this is ngc uk, great coms, keep safe
Dad: why are you crying so loud?
Me:
Sounds like "Kennedy Steve" on "Clearance"
Yup it is Kennedy Steve I'm almost sure
Well they are talking to Kennedy ground. Good bet it is him
It is, he said in an interview with Captain Joe that he worked the last Concorde operation out of JFK
Stop cutting onions!
Once again, Blame the dc10 for the retirement, not continental.
It was too expensive to operate. it would be retired even if AF4590 didnt happen BA and AF weren’t making a profit from the Concorde
Speedbird, what a magnificent aircraft
... " European Time Machine " sadly last take off from this Airport JFK in this important country US ... :) thank you so much, Amerika
So sad
Adieu Ami!
