Can we take a moment to appreciate Legends even more due to what Disney has given us??
@sumit c In a way, they just wrapped up George Lucas' stupid mistakes. It was his crap idea to make the entire saga about that fucking family, then he sold the franchise to Disney and removed himself from the equation. It's no wonder that ship crashed and burned.
George Lucas is like that Italian captain from a few years ago, who steered his cruise ship into a cliff and then abandoned his post while his ship was sinking.
Disney actually seems to be able to produce quality content for Star Wars when they're coming up with their own ideas instead of trying to emulate George, see "Rogue One" or "The Mandalorian".
@Ronald Porter I think Obi Wan should have been the main character of the prequel trilogy, with Anakin being a secondary or tertiary protagonist until his fall.
Also no child Anakin and no butchering of children until he gets put in the suit.
@@BrokenCurtain @BrokenCurtain I highly disagree with that. George had a great storyline with great character developments. Disney took those ideas and it turned it into a money-grabbing franchise that consequently ended in the toilet. They also gave into a lot of political propaganda, tossed that in with the movies, and wrote a dreadful script hoping it would appease everyone. It backfired terribly and now most people don't even consider the sequels canon. That is quite pathetic on Disney's part.
I do not think it was wise on George's behalf to sell his idea to Disney. Though I have heard that he did try to intervene and help with the sequels, but Disney of course disregarded any of his ideas.
I believe Rogue One and The Mandalorian has been the only thing Disney has done right because they stuck with that original Star Wars vibe that came from George in the first place. If Kathleen Kennedy really cared about this franchise, she would have done her homework and still would have respected George's original ideals. George is not to blame here. It's Disney and their greedy ideas to make money.
My sentiments exactly only Now preciate George Lucas Star Wars so how bad is needed there has Disney had people out there bad mouth and George Lucas's Star Wars posing as fans and review critics that's so childish

What I love even more is how he's been uploading again :) I've missed his videos. For sure my favorite SW channel.
They expanded on a whole lot of battles pre-Disney. Like, pretty much all of them. Just read the film novelizations. The Ep3 nov is awesome. The final duel between Anakin and Dooku gets so much more detail.

Honestly anakin and obi wan is the greatest parts of either trilogy. Ben is such a great charactor and both battles show this. I mean, vader knew he could never penetrate obi wans legendary defenses and ben knew he could leave vader disembowled and melting in acid and yet he would never be able to finish his old padawan. It is a powerful set of scenes for the emotion of each of them.
To me that was a huge loss in disney's movies, even the phantom menace knew to keep the focus on charactors and their emotions as the battle continues. Not only is there never any actual danger to Rey at any point, the investment from hans death was wasted to make it look cool instead of to keep emotion.

the real reason obi wan "surrendered" was because vader was taller and he no longer had the *high ground* and he couldn't take it anymore
In that moment he surrendered to keep Vader distracted so the others could escape. In doing so, he achieved the morale high ground.

Legends have more impressive force powers than the sequel trilogy. VADER LITERALLY WENT DEEP IN HIS MIND USING THE FORCE to see everything around him during his last battle against Obi-Wan. THAT'S SO INCREDIBLE!
Both foreseeing the future and this are the same ability of foresight. While Anakin and Luke were seers whom saw future events via tapping into cosmic force, Vader (and Revan) relive past events in fullest details as visions.

The old Marvel Comics series, back in the day, really went into detail on Vader's search for the mystery pilot's name.
As I recall, one of the pilots who flew with Luke actually killed himself rather than be interrogated by Vader. One of the bounty hunters Vader hired turned on him when he realized that a kid who could do such a thing represented real hope for the galaxy.
And through it all, Vader burned his way through the galaxy: Give. Me. A NAME.
What are the issues?
You know Obi, most people are appreciative when someone saves their sorry life in real life.
It is a lesson that shows that revenge is empty. So driven to victory over Obi-wan that he missed the true meaning of the events taking place. Vader's victory doomed the Empire.

any time a tyrant takes over the people rise up in protest and even if for decades the people get trampled eventually a hero emerges to stop the tyrant and when regimes take power from weak ideology it's always their backers who get all the rewards and the pawns get cast out......

even in SW this happened, the clones were pawns and once their job was over they were slowly phased out with troops trained at be imperial academy.....those who allowed the corruption to fester were placated for many years then swept aside when the moffs gained power and were proven to be effective also with the death star it was to ensure imperial power but with it's destruction, the non victory at hoth, the crusade Vader went on and all the other sheer comical failures it's a wonder the empire lasted so long, 20-25 years is a blip compared to 1000 years lol

Now I always thought that Luke didn't know that his name was Skywalker growing up on Tatooine, especially since Uncle Owen was trying to keep him from going off on "some damn fool crusade." Remember that on Tatooine Luke said he was "just Luke"--not Luke Skywalker. More likely he believed his name was Luke Lars, something Owen told him along with the lie that his father "was a navigator on a spice freighter." As I figure it, Obi-Wan told Luke his father's name sometime between rescuing Luke from the Sand People, and blasting off from Mos Eisley--which is why he was able to introduce himself as Luke Skywalker to Princess Leia in her cell. Vader could have gotten Luke's name from surveillance recordings, most likely the camera installed in Leia's cell--which makes more sense to me than Vader learning Luke's name from official records on Tatooine.

Legends Star wars is so much more interesting than the new canon, why Disney made most of the stories before the prequels non canon is madness, they don't really affect the movies in a direct way, the stuff after Jedi being non canon I can kind of understand because it interferes with thier movies. Disney just rushed through everything, ' just delete everything no matter how awesome it is and start from scratch'. Hasn't really worked out has it?
New Canon has its fans. The one I hear the most is they luke how OP Vader is on New Canon. He's completely invincible and nothing can even challenge him in Canon while he faces worthy foes in Legends but ends up winning in the end

Vader's thought were also shared in the novel "Death Star" where he was scared about the disappearance of Obi-Wan's body right after their battle on the Death Star.
If only Obi Wan had thrown some pocket sand into Vader's mask air intake.

@@cmv8722 There is the Foundation, Canon and Non-Canon. The Foundation is anything that George Lucas wrote. Canon is anything that does not take away from the Foundation. Non-Canon is garbage like Disney puts out. Canon is anything that adds to, but doesn't take away from the original content. Besides, all Canon or now known as Legends material had the blessing of Lucas until he "changed his mind". So in effect he said, "Hey guys, this stuff is great. Fits along with my story and should be believed." at first, then he was like, "Oh, all that stuff that had my blessing and expanded on my work is now not so much." The three original movies and the three prequels are Foundation. Legends is the only Canon and Lucas nor Disney will change my mind.

If you look close In a new hope obi wan disappears a second before vaders blade makes contact I know it's just an effects limitations but I like to believe my theory that ohi wan just let go and let himself die just before vader could kill him. So Obi wan could distract and troll vader one last time
That wasn't Vader trying to find Luke. Vader thinks like a soldier, straightforward and taciturn, he would've slayed ten Lukes and not flinch.
This was Anakin hiding behind a bionic lifesuit, _trying to find anything left of him that wasn't destroyed by Vader already._ Because hope is the might that builds reality itself.
Darth Vader's perspective is always full of holes and he misses entire aspects of people and circumstances around him. It is only through hindsight that he seems to grasp the additional information he seeks, but this doesn't improve his ability and dexterity to improve his view as to the proper position he should take at the moments as they occur nor even long after when events happened. In this examination of Darth Vader, this character weakness will always make him a lackey to those that can manipulate him for their own causes.

While this is an interesting story I concluded that it was a manipulation. He made sure Luke saw Vader kill Ben so he didn't have a problem fight/kill Vader later. Luke had no problem fighting Vader in Cloud City, he was ready to kill him because of the vision he saw in Dagobah where he tortured Han. Once Vader revealed he was the father Luke changed internally. Even Yoda didn't want to tell Luke Vader was his father until confronted.

The one thing most people don't recall.
Darth Sidious constantly boasts to Lord Vader in the previous two decades or so years that:

Therefore, Sidious 'foresaw' the birth, Luke grow up in Tattoine, meet Obi-Wan and destroy the Death Star that had taken over 20 years to build and had sapped up to 70 per cent of the Empire's wealth and resources.
Yoda during the rise of Palpatiine/Sidious admitted he could not see into the Darkside of the Force and the Clone Wars furthers obscured his meditation and ability to see past the 'dark shroud that had falling on everything. '
Even Mace Windu's ' I sense a plot to destroy the Jedi' came way too late.
Sidious could not see into the Light. He taunted Yoda by saying 'your arrogance blinds you.'
Yoda lasted 900 years of which 850, he was THE Jedi Master.
Sidious's 3,000 year reign lasted a paltry 23 years.
WHY - It was arrogance which now blinded The Emperor.
Sidious did NOT train Vader properly as a Sith apprentice. Therefore neither could see the rise of Luke Skywalker. Had Sidious and Vader worked together as Master and Apprentice they may, or probably, would have sensed Luke or Leia.
But then again, Sidious could not sense Yoda.
Both the Emperor and Vader had to pay informants and Bounty Hunters to obtain Luke's identity. It is said that Sidious only found out about Skywalker about 10 days before Vader did.
Sidious had succumbed to folly even though he had felt a stirring in the Force.
It is this folly which ended up destroying him in 3 short years after the destruction of the Original Death Star.
Thus the lesson endeth. The lesson being discernment OR learning to observe closely and carefully the trees that make up the forest.

Delta one thing I never stood about that battle between Vader and Obi-Wan on the death Star He hated him so much that he just rather kill him. I would have tried to capture him and just torture him or something but vader was blinded by vengeance
He never learned patience. Anakin/Vader always failed to learn that lesson from Kenobi. He was always impulsive rather than level headed.

I could make a black vs white joke, however I'll just say... I noticed it too and the only conclusion that I come up with is in that moment Kenobi was swinging from a side perspective which would make his lightsaber look shorter as it was facing away from us.

Obi-Wan sacrificed himself because he knew he would not win the duel and he needed to allow Luke to escape knowing Luke would not leave him. Vader has eyes. Done.

I think Kenobi did what he had to do/could do. Think about the aftermath...
Kenobi kills Vader. Kenobi and a low level Jedi would have to face Palpatine. Palpatine wins, end of good guys.
OR
Kenobi distracts Vader. Luke gets away. Luke survives to become powerful enough to turn his father. With his father's help he ends Palpatine. Good guys win.
Obi wan new Vader was the chosen one and saw Vader kill the emperor while using the force so Obi wan let Vader kill him because Yoda could not kill the emperor and Obi wan new he could not kill the emperor...........

Dear Star Wars Reading Club, you totally Missed the piont,Luke Skywalker was given a Blood transfer on the M Falcon which Was required for a teacher studedent hockup, when he died he was hock up to luke and could talk to him, like at the swap with Yoda.The Author.
Why do these things come up? What happened did happen because it was a script and it's just a little annoying how the comics (or whatever) is trying to "explain" it all 40+ years later.
