@@sheadoherty7434 It was all apart of his plans. Obi-wan had one last lesson to teach his old apprentice and a new lesson to teach his new apprentice. When Obi-wan vanished it was the first time in 20 years Vader questioned his own knowledge of the force.
You know... they should have ghost Obi-Wan pop up in an extended scene in Rise of Skywalker and say, 'Hello there'.

GL/EU: a Force user disappearing upon death & becoming a Force Ghost is so rare that even 900 yr old Yoda had no knowledge of it till Qui-Gon enlightened him & is a skill that must be taught.
Disney: Every Force user can magically disappear after death so it's not that special & unique anymore.
Really? That's what you take issue with? Obi Wan likely taught Luke the ability, and Luke in turn taught those afterwards. Is that such a stretch in your mind?
They kept that continuity. It makes sense for Luke to know it. And it's not that far fetched to assume he taught his pupils, especially those that are his family, how it works.
Everybody else just dies normally.

I mean obviously Obi-Wan, Yoda, and Anakin would have told Luke at some point how to do it. Leia probably learned from Luke how to do it. And Luke or one of the other force ghost probably helped Ben Solo become a Force Ghost like how Obi-Wan did for Anakin when he died on the second Death Star.
I'm not a fan of the sequel trilogy, but there is already pre-established reasons for why Luke, Leia, and Ben would have become force-ghosts. They at least didn't ruin that aspect of Star Wars in the new films.

Qui-gon was able to live on with only his voice in the force because he knew how. And they make it pretty clear in the clone wars cartoon that's not normal or something anyone can do. You had to know how. I don't really have a problem with it personally tho just pointing out how it could be confusing
Well, if you think about it Darth Sodoous was present during Qui-Gon Jinn’s funeral. With that being said, he probably was under the impression that the Jedi somehow lost the knowledge of turning the force ghost. Even though he understood that there were many Sarah slaughter during Order 66. And with each one of them having bodies to show that they were killed, he would have no reason to believe that they still knew how to turn the ghost. The only thing now is to explain how they lost the knowledge.

I imagine it's been mentioned before, but Vader killing Obi-Wan was the first step on his path to redemption. A focus of his anger was eliminated and given anger is critical to Dark Side powers, Vader fundamentally weakened himself and opened the path back to being Anakin by killing Obi-Wan.

Like, I'm not gonna defend the sequel trilogy, but the plot was not why the OG trilogy was good. It was pretty basic. Though, basic and competent is still better than the sequel trilogy.

As classic as Star Wars is, the disjointed writing left the EU a lot of holes to fill. The Emperor gets a passing mention in Ep4 and his character had not been fully finalized by then. Vader's character hadn't even been established by then and Ep5 sort of went against initial plans while the full backstory would take almost 20 years to fill out. Much of the explanatory stuff wasn't there when the film was made and it sort of shows regardless of the EU.
Wasn't it made obvious Vader knew Obi-Wan was still around when he told Luke "Obi-Wan has taught you well" during their duel in episode 6?
There's a chance he thought Obi-Wan taught Luke for a longer time before dying. I'm not sure if he and Palpatine knew Yoda was still alive or not.
Sidicious knew Yoda was still alive because he escaped from the their dual in the Senate.

Bullshit, Anakin directly talks to Qui Gon Jinn during the Mortis arc of the clone wars tv show (and I think his Mom briefly?)
And even if you consider the arc to all be in Anakin/Obi wans' head, soon after they return to Corruscant, Anakin can briefly hear Qui Gon communing with Yoda, which means it wasnt all in his head, Qui Gon had only became a force ghost by accident/will of the force. And as such could only interact with the living realm in areas highly concentrated in the force, such as Dagobah, Mortis, etc.
I have a few questions on this:
Was the knowledge of how to become a force ghost limited to only Qui-gon, Obi-wan, Yoda during the span of episodes 1-6? Because the way Yoda implies it(at least in the movies) is that Qui-gon learned how first, taught Yoda, Yoda teaches Obi-wan how to talk to Qui-gon, then Qui-gon teaches Obi-wan. That seems odd in itself to me because Luke didn't have any training on how to speak to force ghosts, Obi-wan would just show up and talk to him.
Are there other ways to keep your consciousness after death for Jedis other than becoming a force ghost? Anakin became a force ghost after dying at the hands of Sidious, but everyone that knew about how to become a force ghost was dead, didn't seem to train him on it. It also seems to be implied that your body has to disappear upon the moment of death, too(at least in the original trilogy), so is that just continuity error? Why were all those Jedi able to talk to Rey when they didn't seem to know how to become force ghosts? Seems like Anakin becoming a force ghost was just for the heartfelt moment, that disney was just doing their own thing when it came to the other dead jedis speaking to her.

Kenobi didn't die. He transitioned into the force to become even more powerful. The Death Star duel was a huge defeat for Vader.

In the new Vader comics well it isn’t really that new anymore but anyway Vader was sent to kill a Jedi women who attacked Vader using plants. When Vader finally got close to her she vanished and turned into a force ghost. She even called Vader skywalker and said “remember skywalker even the littlest of light will shine the brightest in the dark”

Kinda makes you wonder how Sidious would have reacted if Vader *had* revealed that Obi-Wan had vanished upon death. After all, Sidious would definitely have understood the implications of Obi-Wan still existing as a Force Ghost meaning that he could still aid the Rebellion (and specifically, Luke) even from beyond the grave, and that as a Force Ghost he would be far more difficult to "dispose of". Makes me wonder if Sidious would have considered hunting down and disposing of Obi-Wan's Force Ghost would be something Sidious himself attempted to do rather than send Vader (considering Vader's lack of awareness concerning Force Ghosts).

I am still confused as to why Darth Vader seems to be clueless as to Jedi because a force ghost but in the last episode of the Clone Wars after Yoda competed his training with The Wills, they tell Yoda to teach Anakin (they said Skywalker).

Notorious GeetMan it was after episode 4 was written but it took place during the mortis arc of the clone wars and Anakin was there when Qui-Gon spoke to Yoda during the final episodes so in the timeline before episode 4

Michael Blank He spoke to Anakin on mortis aswell because thats why Anakin was the only one who believed that Yoda had spoken to Qui-Gon because Obi-Wan thought it was an illusion of the planet where as Anakin actually believed that it was Qui-Gon
