The Non-Canon Expert looks at why Qui-Gon refused to tell Obi-Wan about Anakin's attack on the Tusken Raiders following the death of his mother, both immediately after the events of Episode 2 and also following Episode 3 once Obi-Wan had learned how to communicate with Qui-Gon.
This is a Legends story for Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi with information found within the Legends novels "Star Wars: The Clone Wars: Wild Space," "Star Wars: The Life and Legend of Obi-Wan Kenobi," and the Episode 2 novelization. I hope that you enjoy it!

The jedi weren't ready because they were too stuck on their dogma, thats why anakin only told non-jedi, they can understand human emotion
Or the prophecy was misread and that both the Sith and jedi were to be destroyed
IMO The jedi Order strayed from their path while meddeling with politics. Anakin purified the Jedi Order and brought them back to what they should be. Nomads and Wanderers, One with the Force.
I have to agree their dogmas and fears created Vader.
@Y'hochanan Ace the jedi agreed with compassion, which is passion for somebody. Anakin: 'Attachment is forbidden. Possession is forbidden. Compassion, which I would define as unconditional love, is essential to a Jedi's life'
Qui-Gon was such a next level Jedi
Tell that to Darth Maul 😂
Yes he was
Qui-Gon was a real Jedi Knight.
He was *_THE_* Jedi.
Maybe he didn't say a word because he secretly hated sandpeople
I agree
Who really likes them?
Sand people would kill you just as soon as look at you. Nobody likes them.
To put it horrendously roughly, Qui Gon knows that the Jedi Order are just a bunch of emotion fearing robots and the Sith like things too kinky.
Priest Droids.
Star Wars is the story of people deciding for other people when they're ready to know something important.
...From a certain point of view.
@@Dunge0n a certain point of view?
Yes Anakin killed them out of rage. But it was more than that. His love and his compassion for his mother who sacrificed so much for her son and he had to leave her behind to be a Jedi. It was this compassion for her sacrifices that led him to lash out like he did.
Correction! He didn't have to be a Jedi! He was free! He could have worked to free her! He choose to be a Jedi to which he left his mother behind!
If Qui-Gon would have told Obi-Wan about Anakin's carnage, he wouldn't have never allowed A'Sharad Hett to get closer to him.
Qui gon and plo koon are perfect examples of what a Jedi should be
Dracula: What is a jedi? A miserable pile of Secrets!
When did Christopher Lee play Dracula again?

I was honestly about to look for this.
Anakin really just needed a better friend than obi wan
I think he could've been talked down before the dark side fully blinded his judgement
If qui gon was his master anakin wouldn't have fallen
I love obi wan tho
I disagree. Once he went to the Mustafar he was gone hence the eye color change
Qui Gon Jinn: "There's always a bigger fish."
He was talking about the one in his pants

Qui-Gon after meeting Anakin: "This boy is the Chosen One and will bring balance to the force and save the galaxy"
Anakin: *Murders Tusken Raiders and Younglings in cold blood*
Qui-Gon: Well...
Ahhh well that's the thing about prophecies. They are true to a point. Anikan did bring balance to the force by eliminating the Jedi and later down the line Palpatine. The problem is everyone assumed bring balance meant only eliminating the sith.
Arego there’s 2 sides to the story but that’s the ending
Arego that’s because the light side is balance but the jedis problem was how they completed tried to avoid any semblance of the dark side
Jacob Bailey Idk if I’d call the Jedi balance. They did stuff like take child from their homes at a young age against their parents wishes and pushed their followers to be void of emotions out of fear it would lead to the dark side. The force isn’t good or evil, it’s a lot like Mother Nature in real life, it’s the good and the bad. Also Anikan saved Palpitine from Mace Windu, even George Lucius said Mace legitimately won using vaapod, but it was Anikan that stopped him. So without Anikan the Jedi would have won and would have continued to stay in power just like they had been many year prior to that. The thing is the movies are just set from the perspective of the Jedis themselves.
@@SpiritGRF balance to the force isn’t an equal amount of Jedi as sith. Balancing the force is eliminating the sith
qui-gon didnt tell yoda about palpatine because he didnt know, they only know what they knew, perhaps they gain greater understanding but no more.
Maybe he felt it was the will of the force despite being an act of the dark side
Qui Gon was so above everyone else in the Order. It’s a shame they killed off such a character, especially when you dive into his character in EU content
I feel like I've seen this video before on this channel? About Obi-won not being ready to forgive Vader and being shocked when he saw Vader saved Luke.... feel like I learned all that here before in a separate video....
Obi-Wan did not understand BONDS! Obi-Wan did not understand FAMILY!
At that point in time, Obi-Wan was practically Rex in season 1 and 2. He had followed orders to the latter. Had he reported it to Obi-Wan, instead of helping Anakin like he would have done in season 3-onwards, he would have reported it to the Council and that would have made Anakin be expelled.
It's like among us, if your dead you can't give the answer
StarWarsReadingClubs: why didn’t qui gon tell obi wan about anakins attack on the tuskin raiders in episode 2
Me: because he died in episode 1
All fans bro you a starwars noob don’t you know about force ghost
Me: uhhhhhhhhhhhh I was joking
My mind: Good save they should believe it
Definitely a like for Qui Gon
Such history being told here.
If u look at it, from a certain point if view, anikan becoming vader did help balance the force
@reconcool 1 yep
In ep 2 quigon hadn’t even talked to yoda after his death. Yoda didn’t teach obiwan how to talk to quigon until after anakin had become vader.
Don’t even need this video TBH.
Why didn’t the Jedi Council talk to Anakin about this after Episode 2?
CAMERON BEVAN Yoda did, he felt the disturbance in the Force
@@macwelch8599 Maybe they needed all hands on deck because war didn't really give them time to worry about such things. And or they didn't know
Third Planet I’m not say the Order would’ve expelled Anakin, but a meeting about the massacre should’ve happened
They said you can't watch the movies until episode 6 was done.
@@macwelch8599 yoda didnt know exactly what happened. He just felt a disturbance and heard qui gons disembodied voice
This is the best channel to subscribe to regarding Star Wars content.
If not for the high quality explanation of lore, for the clever humor at the end of each video.
Nice analysis. I tend to avoid the force ghost thing in general because the whole thing just feels shoehorned in.
Today waited whole day for this video 😃
Love and respect from india
So did Yoda do anything about what Anakin did after feeling that "something terrible" had happened with him?
It makes me think of how in episode 5 obiwan's ghost told luke that he couldnt interfere in luke's journey
What's the big deal ?
They were animals , and they were slaughtered like animals .
Kenobi's biggest problem was that he was too judgemental .
That was a awesome video that answers a very BIG "Why Qui-Gon, y quite
But what about the droid attack on the Wookies?
I thought he was busy with Force Ghost stuff.
It took Obi-Wan 20 years for him to forgive Ani and say I'ma teach you Force ghost cause you my buddy.
Qui-Gon: you didn't want to let me on the council. I ain't telling you shit about the "chosen one"
(Snickers)
Ah Yes Obi Wan Kenobi could be like I’m very sorry Anakin for your loss with your Mother
dead men tell no tales?
Bro Jedi live beyond death Through the light of the force one can achieve it
@@JustHereToLurkYT REALYYYY? Huh that explains all the ghosts here and there
I promise not to make any more jokes. ;)
Marcel Sirer yes look it up they can come back as force ghost and interact with the living world and everything around it
@@JustHereToLurkYT I'm touched by your honest and candid reply. But I Was making a joke.
Watching the episode 2 scene and this pops up
My first reaction when I read the title: because he was dead...
The force ghosts don’t tell the future or anything that would drastically change the will of the force because they are part of the force and therefore the will of the force and the future
Well crud...I still don't know..jk. Thanks for the story! I always enjoy. Left a👍🏻👌🏻
SWRC, where are you? Just checking in to make sure you're okay. The frequency it was she put up videos is really slow down. If you're busy that's fine. Just curious on my end.
Hello there
Uhhhh cuz he was dead and not a full force ghost.... Like, what a non question.
Obi Wan knew
Wish Obi-Wan learned about Anakin killing the Sand People in the Canon Timeline as well
I've always viewed Anakin's slaughter of the sand people as perhaps the only real good thing he did with the dark side aside from killing palpatine. The sand people were a nuisance that should have been obliterated entirely and I kind of hate the producers of ep 2 that we never got to see the whole scene with him roaring violently at the end with the imperial march in the background.
Ok.
When the hell did Obi get the time to train Anakin to force ghost?
You’d figure he would have told them about order 66, but nah...
Plot armor. That's why.
ANAKIN....!!!!ANAKIN....NOOOOOOO.....!!!
I wasn't gonna give a like but... I do like Qui-Gon.
Did the chancellor get anikans mother killed?
I've heard George Lucas said it is true and it's canon which I don't know how
Good job
Well if it for Qui-Gon then I had better...
Because he was dead.
There. saved you all watching a video...
Maybe cause he was dead as fuck lol
You literally said the same words other and over again.
Cauae qui gon was already dead!!
And then Disney decided to FUCKING RUIN ANAKIN'S REDEMPTION COMPLETELY!
I swear you just repeat yourself 😂
the terrible writing of sw leads to endless content. _JC
And this is why I don't like Qui-Gon.
Howdy
Maybe because he was dead. One good thing about being dead is that you don't have to care about the living anymore.
Because he was dead!!!!
Because he was dead.
Case closed!
Qui Gon Lie
Darth Krayt knew . Obi-Wan didn't have hope in Anakin he left him for dead he gave up on Padawan on his brother
Well to be fair Anakin has just done some of the most unspeakable acts imaginable, and then tried to cut his head off after attempting to kill his pregnant wife
"A specific retcon"
This does not and should not always come down to what is flimsily passed off as 'lore'. It's just bad, lazy scriptwriting, and comics had to do damage control to save George.
