Sylosis has some of the heaviest and best riffage I've ever heard, Josh is a monster.

It's pretty incredible - they're without a doubt primarily a riffs band, but the lead playing is as melodic, as technical and, above all, as clean as anything else you'll ever hear.

To be honest it never felt like Sylosis was over for me. Their releases (from the second EP with Jamie all the way up to Dormant Heart) are so replayable for me that I just don't seem to get bored of their music. I'm not craving new music like I am with a lot of other bands, although a new album this year would be great
He should be able to make a living off Sylosis. I do my best to support Josh. I own all his solo stuff along with every Sylosis album and single. Bought cloths from his shop, as well as bought some of his art.
I have 1 of the 20 copies of two different paintings he made. The Sword through the green skull, and the women wearing the Crown of Thrones. I’m not trying to tute my own horn or anything. I just hope more people who love his music help him out, as well as the rest of Sylosis.
I’m stoked to hear about another album and can’t wait. I challenge everyone to pay for the album and give Josh incentive to consider a new Sylosis album in the future as well. We need it.

Josh is one of the most underrated players around, and it shows his love of the music and dedication that even after joining a band who are on a meteoric rise like Architects, he keeps Sylosis going. Much respect to the Captain for yet another great interview, and also to Josh for stepping up and carrying on the legacy of Tom Searle (another phenomenally underrated player and innovator).
He’s bit really underrated because everyone who knows him and his work in Sylosis knows he’s a genius and an incredible player. He is 100% under heard, deserves a lot more fame and notoriety because he’s one of the absolute best in metal but the people who do know him know he’s one of the best and don’t underrate, just underrated in the fact that he’s not nearly as well known as he should be. Dude is a metal gos in my book.

@@MJL-91 yeah i listen to conclusion of an age (the song) on some demo CD off some magazine. Liked it, but got the album and my face was absolutely melted by the opening track
Not all of their albums are equally good, but each of them has one or more tracks that makes it absolutely indispensible. I think Edge of the Earth is better than Monolith, but I wouldn't want to miss Out From Below and A Dying Vine for the world.

The way Josh chose his first LTD guitar, looking at the headstock, was the same way I chose my MH1000. The headstock was the coolest thing around, and Stephen Carpenter from Deftones played them!
Had a lesson from him and Bailey in Edinburgh, I was too nervous to play then got drunk and made a clown of myself. Still one of the best gigs I’d been to.
Not enough people know about Sylosis which is unfortunate. They deserve way more recognition than what they get.

So glad you had Josh on. He has been my favorite musician since I first heard their track After lifeless Years back in about 2009. Even putting aside his insane talent on the guitar, I think he is an incredible vocalist. Everyone needs to know about him in my opinion.

@Toxic Potato Because they're really talented and have one of the best live shows today. And besides let's be real, coming from a massive Deftones fan (I love them even more than Architects) Chino is VERY iffy live. His live performance can either be spot-on incredible or god awful.
I've been a huge fan of Josh since the early Sylosis days. I'm so excited to be watching this interview.
I know very little about Architects but I'm glad I watched this. Josh seems to be a first rate bloke and a cracking player.

Basically old school mastodon tuning
They've been using that C# standard with a G# tuning for ages tbf. I remember an interview with Tom where he said the F# tuning they use in Gravedigger came about when he dropped his guitar and the bottom string went flat.
I've got no interest in guitars but this is a fantastic interview. You can tell the two got on well and the interviewer is genuinely interested and asking the right questions. I love Architects and it's good to see Josh getting recognition!

Sylosis deserves to be just as big as Architects, if not bigger. IMO Sylosis is, bar none, the best thrash band this generation has produced. It's insane, yet understandable, they aren't at least as successful as something like Trivium.
How did I miss this when it came out
These guys inspired me to pick up a guitar, especially the song Doomsday. Tom was a true genius in songwriting and Josh is a surely equally amazing. I love the old stuff aswell as the new stuff and i really love hearing a bit of a change in Architects, but it still sounds like Architects. Love Architects and i hope to hear much more Albums in the future!
