The edit “and we’re back” after trying not to laugh with a mouthful of soda was because I had to run to the bathroom because it started coming out of my nose
I know we’re all supposed to be “FVCKING BRVTAL METAL” and stuff but this episode was actually adorable. The fact you spent the whole thing just messing around and being silly like when you were kids was so full of positive energy.
Josh's 4 year old at religious school reciting lord's prayer and him in his cannibal corpse joggers is pretty much a snap with me. Don't even realise I'm in Hellripper and Coffin Mulch merch half the time😂
After seeing this episode dropped I checked out "The Sign of Things To Come" because I never before listened to Sylosis, and it instantly turned into one of my all time favorite albums.
I’ll never forget, very first metal show. Sylosis was opening for a tour in like 2011, line up was them, hellyeah , in flames and lamb of god. I was so blown away with their performance I’ve been a fan ever since edge of the earth!
You can absolutely tell how well these two know each other haha. Good lord, falling apart constantly hahaha. Instant click on this when I saw the email.
Sylosis and Viatrophy played an all dayer in our shitey town in Hampshire back in 08/09, incredible to see these two mad lads smashing it still. Excellent pod chaps!
I LOOOOOOVE SYLOSIS I just remembered... it must have been 8 years ago, I went to a Sylosis concert and Josh was selling merch... I was so starstruck! Josh was soo nice and calm while I was shaking soooo hard, I just could not take a stable picture. So it made me shake even more lol thankfully a helpful stranger took my phone and took the picture for me 😂 I still wear those T-shirts 😊 Edit: reading my comment again and I sound insane 😅
Conclusion of an Age is Sylosis' best record they've ever made imo. Riffs for days, lots of melody, amazing solos, great vocals. Josh will probably disagree with me haha. Even though I love Josh's vocals on every release since then, Jamie is a mega talent on the mic too haha.
What a great episode. Really funny. The look on Josh’s face when Craig says what if he died before this comes out and everyone is like oooooh eerie. Haha. Classic.
i got into Sylosis with Dormant Heart. that one has a special place in my heart. But Cycle of Suffering got me in the feels. this was a fun chat! listened to this as a fell asleep last night. :)
this is my favorite episode so far by a longshot. so much fun, I laughed all the way through. listened on podcast, glad it came up on my yt feed as well so I could leave this comment.
seeing sylosis in London last month broke me, I have been listening for years and seeing them perform old songs at kentish town was such a special moment. cannot wait to see you again!
Cringing my way through the "what to say to your heroes" bit because I met Josh earlier this year and the ability to form coherent sentences just left. That's an odd sensation for a man in his 30s. He must have thought I was on day release. Anyway, solid podcast, enjoyed it!
I thought I was having Deja vu because I watched the Mario episode before this one, and they each covered the Lars defense, his drum stick, & festival location in Bali 😯
Great chat! Totally felt the same around 43 mins when Josh talked about listening to something and it making you question what you'd done if it's different. One minute I could be listening to Testament and think I wanna do thrash then listen to KoRn and accept that actually I do like nu metal no matter what the elitists say! I guess the best thing to take away is if you like it, doesn't matter just embrace it
English not being my first speaking language, I completely understand Bill Hader and his british crime films skit on SNL, I literally had to rewind a couple of times just so I could understand what they were talking about 😂
Burnt By The Sun was so good! One of my all time favs. Still in heavy rotation. Hope they play a show. I’ll fly to it! And Ion Dissonance. Same. Amazing!
About the long songs, Josh does have a point that people don't have the Attention span for them nowadays, but I don't know what it is that for me bands who usually write some longer songs (atm I call recall sylosis, machine head, and some Trivium, especially shogun), those tracks are usually amongst my favorite ones. I feel like it's one of the few things that really capture my attention. Hope sylosis release in the future something with more Edge of the Earth vibes.
Watching Craig around Josh is a textbook example of being comfortable enough around somebody you can fully unmask and really be you. Get in to Runescape - it's tour friendly and a hell of a vice.
Les Paul invented hum buckers, and arguably invented pickups in general when he invented the first ever electric guitar, called "the log." So yeah, you guys should probably know about him lol
We live in the 80’s all over again and metalcore is hair metal…….. Gunshot drums✅ All sound the same✅ Trying to out breakdown the next band✅ Can’t wait til we get a “genre killer” band like Nirvana.
You guys should definitley jam together , or try do a song with people you interview over a period of time. Doesn't have to be serious just fun. It would be great to hear what come out at the end of the year.
My first daughter went to nursery at the catholic school close to home. They’d pray and introduce bible concepts etc. Anyway, the kids made up a playground game called “die Jesus die”.
I love long albums! More songs usually mean more NEW and more COOL songs overall. I hate it when bands put up an album of like 8-10 songs half of which were released as singles before and you get like 4 new songs on release, that's just spoiling all the fun.

Soooo ... I believe you mentioned an Australian tour? Keen as fuck for that!
😂
LMAO, I need to see that
hahaha
Josh writes killer riffs and always has great tone. 🤘
"I used to hang out with loads of eight-year-olds."
"……… So what's your question?"
Holy shit I died!
Josh is super talented; an amazing guitarist and producer/Mixing Engineer!
I know we’re all supposed to be “FVCKING BRVTAL METAL” and stuff but this episode was actually adorable. The fact you spent the whole thing just messing around and being silly like when you were kids was so full of positive energy.
“Flippin a fish flippin a fish flippin a fish now”🤣🤣🤣
"We can't talk about Architects, ah fuck" right at the end 😂😂 glad that this wasn't all about that tbh. Love Architects and Sylosis.
Josh's 4 year old at religious school reciting lord's prayer and him in his cannibal corpse joggers is pretty much a snap with me. Don't even realise I'm in Hellripper and Coffin Mulch merch half the time😂
I'm so glad the Kiedis fish flipper not only got brought up but played. One of the best tweets in history.
After seeing this episode dropped I checked out "The Sign of Things To Come" because I never before listened to Sylosis, and it instantly turned into one of my all time favorite albums.
Love the new Sylosis album. Its new, but still Sylosis. One of the few bands that has never disappointed me with a new release.
I’ll never forget, very first metal show. Sylosis was opening for a tour in like 2011, line up was them, hellyeah , in flames and lamb of god. I was so blown away with their performance I’ve been a fan ever since edge of the earth!

The Void is such a fucking great film, absolutely love it.

@@jasonbuchanan2004 Malefice and Bleed From Within played the following year. Only ran for those two years in our little town, great times!

the "just I" joke was hilarious!
xD
Hahaha😂
Josh Middleton is my favorite musician in metal currently! Thank you for having him on. Sylosis is an absolute juggernaut! 🎉

Awesome interview. Would love to see Slings and Arrows and also Strength beyond Strength cover show up on Spotify as well. Make it happen, Josh!
What a great episode. Really funny. The look on Josh’s face when Craig says what if he died before this comes out and everyone is like oooooh eerie. Haha. Classic.
The total bromance going on is so infectious!

Saw Sylosis at the Com Centre in Alton, so very good!
19:30 really enjoyed the "Counting with Creg" portion of the show hope it becomes a regular addition

Great interview! Really goood questions that weren't generic. Very refreshing compared to the usual spiel that Josh would be asked. 10/10.
Such a good pod! Josh and ally together would be epic!

I love that Josh doesn't even look like a metal guy, and belts out the most brutal shit around
I laughed through so much of this episode, i had to rewatch it twice to actually pay attention
Fucking hell lmao
I was jamming on my guitar, literally busting out Dissection riffs right when you mentioned that Grimoire. Sick.
Burnt By The Sun love! They need to come back! Please
"Just I." Haha, too funny
I thought I was having Deja vu because I watched the Mario episode before this one, and they each covered the Lars defense, his drum stick, & festival location in Bali 😯

was literally waiting for that at the end HAHA
Love ya Craig, you aren't broken. You know so much, yet know so little
edge of the earth number 1 😎 was such a good time
I loved casting shadows and the Supreme oppressor so much in highschool it kills me that i cant listen to them on spotify 💔
What are the odds, my pizza is done in 5 minutes and I just saw the notification bell "The Downbeat Podcast - Josh Middleton (Sylosis)" So GD happy!
So excited for this! Thank you once again❤️
This is fucking brilliant. I’m crying on my lunch break at the googoo gaga
Chemistry off the hook, Gentlemen. Loved A Sign of Things to Come BTW 🤘
The Return Of The King… Again
Watching this whilst drinking water was a huge mistake. My shirt is now drenched. Thanks Creggy.
Awesome episode, Josh is a hero of mine. Wished you talked about JMP though, maybe in a future iteration with Josh!
Ah what an awesome episode. So funny.
Legend! Loving new Sylosis too
wow this episode was next level. insane bits.
"Ive hung out with LOADS of eight year olds..."
"what was the question?"
LMFAO
Campino sweets were the real deal! 🤘🏻
I didn’t quite get the name of the band they’re talking about at 15:03. Can someone help me out?😂
@@albertoorbi4237 burnt by the sun
At 08:28 does this mean Josh wrote the hard asf drum parts for Rob as well? All of them ?
Casually name dropping Burnt By The Sun is nuts
We need another installment of the Craig and Josh silly willy hour
Keidis bit killed me

28:42 was totally priceless lol
Quite interesting ... ;) Good one.
So broken hearted I can't make the ATL show on the first. I have had the tickets for 3 months 😢
You guys should watch Bone Tomohawk some time. I feel like it's right up your alley
Fucking great film.
@@jackspnc so fucked up tho😂
I bumped into Paddy McGinnis the other day on my way home from work in Manchester, 'no likey, no lighty'
Wasn't the singer from Forever Never on Take Me Out?
Pepperoni, Pineapple and Jalapeño is a god tier pizza
shef's approval
Every single person I've turned on to the Pineapples/Jalapeños combo on pizzas has agreed it is the ultimate. Perfect mix of sweet and hot.
Les Paul invented hum buckers, and arguably invented pickups in general when he invented the first ever electric guitar, called "the log." So yeah, you guys should probably know about him lol
Haha that ending... would've been genuinely interesting though if you guys would have! Definitely enjoyed this talk among friends.
YES!
1:12 didnt your eye go bad on the vlog?
Someone needs to start making a playlist of the songs mentioned in episodes I'm lazy
the camera quality on the intro is fucking insane
…And Justice For Lars ep. 3
As a Pizza Chef myself, it's pronounced "En-Do-Ya"

Mostly whole foods vegan +100
Pineapple on pizza -50
Note quite the lions share but still a fan
LETS GOOOOO
I recommend Skinamarink as a horror film. First film as an adult I felt disturbed by.
man fuck everyone! A Sign Of Things To Come is album of the year!
absolutely!
Best horror film ever is the orginal 'Martyrs' in French. American version wimped out
Craig, dude, olives and pineapple on pizza is the way my brother.
BURNT BY THE SUN love, get in.
One of my all time favs man. BBTS had killer riffs!
Does anyone know what the brand of Josh's cap is?
Cannibal Corpse

quality chat. but we needed architects answers 😀
I wonder why Josh picked Chun Li 😅 Take Me Out was awesome!

Funniest episode ever!
This is so fucking funny
Yes! Just listened to the new album again on the train home. Excited for this!
this episode made me laugh so hard i showed it to my girlfriend
Just googling ‘Craig Reynolds blinds guy’
Correct answer for Sylosis ranking is:
1. Conclusion of an Age
2. Edge of The Earth
3. Cycle of Suffering
4. A Sign of Things to Come
5. Dormant Heart
Craig has hung out with "loads of 8 year olds" 👀
