Lyrics
London calling to the faraway towns
Now war is declared, and battle come down
London calling to the underworld
Come out of the cupboard, you boys and girls
London calling, now don't look to us
Phoney Beatlemania has bitten the dust
London calling, see we ain't got no swing
Except for the ring of that truncheon thing
The ice age is coming, the sun's zooming in
Meltdown expected, the wheat is growing thin
Engines stop running, but I have no fear
'Cause London is drowning, and I live by the river
London calling to the imitation zone
Forget it brother, you can go it alone
London calling to the zombies of death
Quit holding out, and draw another breath
London calling, and I don't wanna shout
But while we were talking, I saw you nodding out
London calling, see we ain't got no high
Except for that one with the yellowy eyes
The ice age is coming, the sun's zooming in
Engines stop running, the wheat is growing thin
A nuclear error, but I have no fear
'Cause London is drowning, and I live by the river
The ice age is coming, the sun's zooming in
Engines stop running, the wheat is growing thin
A nuclear error, but I have no fear
'Cause London is drowning, and I live by the river
Now get this...
London calling, yes, I was there too
And you know what they said? Well, some of it was true!
London calling at the top of the dial
And after all this, won't you give me a smile?
London calling...
I never felt so much alike alike alike alike...
they were not just a band. more than a band
They were the only band that mattered.
@@rundoetx and still are
So true!!!!
they are a group ;)
It is an idea
Ah, Joe. This world needs you more than ever today. Miss you so much...
Yea
Every fucking day mate
For sure! I miss the 80’s.
@@rachelcontreraz6367 I was born in the 2000's and I wish I lived through the punk era, but apparently my dad went to a clash gig
@@joeyrb4509 That's parenting 101. Your dad taught you well. 🤗
Punk's not dead!
Happy birthday London Calling
The Clash were never "Punk".
Nun is neuer dead

HAPPY BIRTHDAY LONDON CALLING DECEMBER 14TH 1979
The single greatest rock and roll song ever recorded. I get chills listening to it now just as i did 40 years ago!
No
Mick Jones and Joe Strummer two of the most talented song writers in the history of music
They’re basically the John Lennon and Paul McCartney of the band
And pretty damn good guitarists to!
@@the17thdoctor1 correct, but better than Lennon and McCartney
@@ClashTommyGun78 yeah right
@@beniciogaudio9484 truth hurts
I was watching this yesterday and I thought they should upload a HD version with decent sound quality. What a pleasant surprise!
Chicken Nugget yaass
No because the HD version won’t sound the same
@@harlem7171ify This is the HD version. 😅
Maybe get better headphones?
@@vendasiax666x8 I probably have better headphones than you! I made this comment 4 years ago when the original upload had ass sound and picture quality. It looks like they've since replaced the original upload with this new version.
Reason I got into bass, will forever love this song, this album, this band
EPIC
Amo baixo, principalmente dessa música💗💗💗💗
The CLASH ,greatest Band ever !!!
When the music came from the streets, and London was London!
Epic
Seit meiner Jugend liebe ich dieses Lied. Eins meiner zeitlosen Lieblingslieder...
This song never gets old ❤
This has been my ringtone since ringtones existed and it still gets my heart racing. Reason #743 of why I love The Clash.
Jealous! Wish I could get it too! Damn there were so f in great then & better now with those great memories in 80’s new wave era! Love & miss them! Turn back time do it all over again!.............🇺🇸
Now just rename all your contacts to "London" and you're all set.
@TUbIuyola Love to hear more about your culture's videos. I'm in my 60's, been a fan of the Clash since the 70's, and oddly enough have never actually typed "lol" in response to anything. But do go on.....
The track is a post-punk warning to the world that something catastrophic is coming. The chorus paints a picture of an impending environmental and political disaster, with references to an “ice age,” the “sun zooming in,” and a potential “nuclear error.” The track also serves to encourage listeners to not remain complacent listeners to not remain complacent and take action in order to protect themselves and avoid tragedy. The repetition of the lines “London Calling” and the contrast between the urgency of the warning and the hopefulness of the bridge (“now get this”) convey the idea that London, a beacon of hope and guidance, is the light of the world in an otherwise dark and uncertain time.
17 yr old here, I just found this band a month ago and this is my favorite song of theirs.
Good starting point. Hope you discover a lot more oldies. Enjoy the journey.
I was 17 years old when I first heard/saw the clash play in Edmonton, Alberta Canada. A fight breaks out in the front few rows of people in festival seating show. Joe strummer stops the show mid song and says...",stop your F'n fighting or I'll come down there and hit you with my stratocaster "....I'm 56 today....and STILL a huge fan! As they say about the clash
"The only band that matters "
Glad you found them. You'll be a fan for life.

It’s a rare intersection where all the stars lined up. Musically, esthetically, stylistically, socially, artistically and lyrically. Really. How many albums will leave the same legacy?
Some.
The Clash💜🎶🎸💃💜😁👏👏👏"Beatlemania" 😁😍London is Great🔝😍🥰❤️💕🧡
Fighting an invisible person has never been this intense.
It has 6 letters and its gematria is 66.

Just wondering why they don't do the lot.

I love The Clash. Even counting the fact that I'm more hippie than punk and I love The Beatles, too, The Clash is a brilliant band. Hello from Kyiv, Ukraine, brother Joe! I can hear yourself very clear and loud! c:
Watching now in February 2022 and thinking of Ukraine (and the rest of the world) in this "nuclear era". Hope you are safe.
Hope your safe rn friend :(
This is the best ever song by The Clash!!

The Clash; underrated.
Everytime I listen to this I'm taken back to my youth years, always reminds me of of listening to the John Peel show on my old radiogram in my back bedroom
Same mate. What I'd give to be back there.
Velind, thanks to you, I learned about this group!
How what?
@@antonioelpro27 Yeah, I probably should have thought about translating it into English, but I went the easy way, through a translator. I wrote that I am grateful to the person with the nickname Velind, because thanks to him I learned about this group
I'm a geezer, when it was released, on vinyl for the home, 8-track for the car. wicked, cannot hear it loud enough.
Train in Vain, my favorite Clash song.
