Like #202 Thanks for the video! That master cylinder has been draining into the booster for a while! When you first mentioned that you couldn't find a leak, I thought, "It's eating it!" Kinda nice to figure things out now and then! *Great work!*
Had to remind twice to the removal of the master cyl. I wonder if the fastners were loose ? I saw what looked like rust build up. I never thought bout that until your tutorial. Awesome video. 👌
I have a 2011 Silverado. The service brakes soon came on in the DIC. I used my scan tool to find the CO299 5A code. I didn't have a smoke tool. Instead I took the vacuum sensor out. I used a small piece of white rope, install the rope and pushed it down into the booster. When I pulled out the rope it was soaked in brake fluid. Thanks to this video I knew what the problem was and have ordered the replacement parts from O'Reilly. My truck only has the vacuum switch on the booster so I ordered the switch as well. It may have been damaged by the brake fluid in the booster. Do you have the video of removal and replacement of the booster and master cylinder? Thanks again for this video!
Richard I’m soo glad this video helped out. I actually made a quick tip video on this issue. I put a zip tie in it to show the fluid in the brake booster. And as of a video showing the removal of the booster and master cylinder, I stick to more diagnosing videos. Thanks for stopping by
Brake fluid leaving the master cylinder rear into the booster is what caused the booster to leak. I’ve seen them so bad that whenever the customer applied the brakes, the engine would stall due to massive vacuum leak. New booster and master cylinder used to cost a fortune compared to now just like mass air flow sensors used to cost a fortune.
Nice demo. It's a little disappointing you couldn't just remove and replace the seals. I wonder if they redesigned the interface, it to prevent it from happening again.
Hey bro. Nice video you have for solving this issue. I have the same msg showing up on my dashboard but check engine light is not on when I turn on my 2010 gmc sierra 1500 SLE. I wonder, is it necessarily to be the code C0299 is actually the issue? Would I still be able to scan the vehicle to get the problem code without the check engine turning on? Please advice as I am concerned about my brake and safety before it turns out a major deal.
I have run into several cars like your own, with lean code and no vac. Leakes, and it’s always the inj. Causing the problem. Some times I start by replacing one at a time, and it improves, but end up having to replace them all to finally fix the problem.but yeah it’s always a good idea to make sure fuel press. Is at specs.
@@joseprado4627 thank you Jose do you recommen to get them new, used ones from yunk jard or re manufacture some shops don’t even have the gage to check fuel pressure and since the car has 232 thousand miles it could be the fuel pump too or fuel pressure regulator.

Thanks for sharing. Would also like to see the complete work, like how to take out the booster as well.
Wow this is exactly what is going on with my 07 Silverado! Thanks for the video!!!
Awesome, Jonathan! Glad this video helped out !
Excellent technique! I never thought about using a smoke machine for a brake booster vacuum leak.
I have a couple of videos where I have a lean mixture and it was caused by the brake booster leaking
@@OzMechanics lean related to fuel trims?

I wouldn't be surprised if the brake fluid made it in the intake.

I cannot get rid of the Service Brakes Soon message. New sensor, master cylinder, booster. C1100. No abs or traction light are on.
Great video. At 12:42 the scales are different making it hard to compare.
Yea, I wrote on the bottom of the screen why it was in different scales. Thanks for watching
@@OzMechanics Oh, yeah. Somehow I missed that 😀.
It’s all good 👍
That's the first time I've seen a master leaking into the booster .

I have service breaks soon and my brake fluid is hood and everything I can’t figure out how to clear it anything will help appreciate it
I have the Service Brakes Soon also. Did you find a fix?
@@iansmith5343 no sir I still haven’t figured it out but if you do let me know please
After visual brake inspection and no leaks insert a plastic tie in the booster to check for brake fluid.
Yea I made a short film showing that
So approximately how much does this cost parts & labor ?
Great video!
Good job
Thanks solve my problem
Great job
if it was any worse ,one could of got a lean code , the vacuum is up tp 76 from 68 ,good fined well done common sense prevails again
OZ, great find brother are you using ALLDATA and as always thanks for sharing.

Great job 😃
Was that an oem replacement booster
That was. It came with the sensors as well
I have a lean code on a Corolla 2004 where are you located most shops don’t have the gage to check fuel pressure thank you
Check the injectors
Very common
@@joseprado4627 I notice that 3 of the injectors have corrosion I have told by 3 person including your self to change them they might be the culprits

Brake light stays on and drains the batteries, ugh
Common issue with GM vehicles.. they suck in alot of oil vapors through vacuum line.
Oops
