Hi Stikker fam!!! Couple things for ya... First, we did react to the Breaking Bad trailer and it will be up later today so yo don't need to ask about it. Second, with Stranger Things done, we will be doing more Better Call Saul episodes a week, just not right away... The schedule for the remainder of the year is pretty much set and we will catch up before the end of the year. We'll have a better update posted in video form this week.

I know... it is AMAZING how the writers are able to show different sides to the same character. When we meet Crazy 8 in BrBad, he is NOT like this at all. Here he seems to be the softer gentler guy Walt encounters in the basement when they have their talk. In it he tells Walt, "this line of work doesn't suit you". The scene here in BCS shows how he had to evolve in order to be successful in the drug game. AWESOME stuff.

    • @cuccamunga

He is also shown wearing a Tampico shirt and driving a Tampico Furniture van which is what he and Walt discussed through small talk in the basement.

After rewatching this show a few times, I realized that Chuck is just redirecting his self-hatred toward Jimmy. “You’re like an alcohlic that refuses to admit he’s got a problem”. This is a great representation of the way Chuck acts throughout the show

But they didn't catch that, they were too worried blaming Jimmy for everything. He is to blame for a lot, but they fail to understand why he's like that. It's like their main focus is to blame one specific character, failing to see the bigger picture. They have tunnel vision. They were so biased towards some characters on these reactions it hurts. Same on BB reactions.

@@Erikaaaaaaaaaaaaa Chuck is a good lawyer, I doubt anyone can dispute that fact, but Chuck is a complete narcissistic asshole. If you had a brother like Jimmy, sure you would lose trust in them and maybe hate them, but when they actively start to turn their life around and try to change their life for the better (i.e. passing the fucking bar and becoming a god damn lawyer for god sakes, especially from what they used to be) wouldn't you be supportive? Knowing the brother or sister that you once knew as a con man/woman is gone and they are turning over a new leaf? Trying to change their ways and become a new person? I know I would be proud and would do anything to help them, but Chuck is different, his respect for the law is impeding his relationship with Jimmy because he can't let go of Jimmy's past because through his eyes as a lawyer, a man of the law, he still see's the same man regardless of the changes that he's made. And in my mind that's a complete asshole and unjustified reason for not supporting him. Why? If he's trying to change, what's so bad about that? And if he want's to become a lawyer because he's always seen you as the role model, wouldn't you be proud? Knowing that you made a difference in your brother/sister's life just by being there? And on top of that, I would like to strangle those who say people can't change. People can change, that's a fact, it's the discipline and intentions that need to be kept in check. As long as you want to change and you have the discipline to change whatever it is that needs to be changed, then it can be changed, you just need to hold yourself to it.

@JEFFREY ADLER Chuck was fucking Jimmy over years before the Billboard Stunt. The only reason Jimmy resorted to that stunt in the first place is because Chuck prevented him from being successful as a lawyer. It's like stopping someone from making money in any way and then acting disgusted when they resort to stealing.

Max Arciniega who plays him also did a very good job of making himself appear younger just from acting that way. I remember from the podcast that there was very little to no makeup involved. Quite amazing when you think this was filmed 8 years after his short stint in Breaking Bad.

This episode is one of the best examples of how Better Call Saul excels as one of the best prequels of all prequels in film/tv. Even with the audience knowing Tuco will survive, we still become invested in how Mike's plan is going to work. Even though we anticipate that Jimmy is going to become a "criminal lawyer" we root for him not to because so much is at stake. Also, the Breaking Bad cameos/references aren't forced in and are handled naturally when the the story dictates. This show is a masterful piece of work.

He's extremely likeable so it's tough watching him get in his own way and it's pretty tragic knowing he eventually becomes Saul since Saul (while hilarious and just as lovable as a character) is nothing like what Jimmy set out to be as a lawyer. At this point in the series, I really felt like I was in the gutter with Jimmy, it feels like its one step forward five steps back with him. I worked in a big law firm and still am in the legal field and the one thing this show absolutely nails is how law firms image is so important and that the culture within the firm is 100% military. Decisions come from the “top down”, nothing happens at a lower level unless its approved up the line. They portray that so well in this series. Great series guys keep up the great work.

Yea! and jimmy even states it. When jimmy slips it really hurts chuck and Jimmy brought it up once but he denied it. The thing is Chuck needs psychiatric help but he refuses to believe and Jimmies best decision would have been to intern chuck to get the help he needs. Instead he enabled him now this rift between these brothers whom clearly love each other but are unable to see eye to eye cause all these issues.

Absolutely loving these Better Call Saul reactions Nikki & Steven! Keep them coming then I am happy and also I am counting down the weeks/months/years until you both get round to Sons of Anarchy also, got a sneaky feeling that series could break your top 3 shows ever. Thanks for the joys from your reactions. X

The one giving money to Tuco was none other than Krazy 8. Nice little cameo. Also Mike's comments when inspecting that last rifle imply that he's a Vietnam war veteran, which would explain a good amount of his combat prowess. It might also explain one of the reasons he's so reluctant to kill right now, with the exception of the 2 police officers he killed out of revenge.

Tuco is a maniac, and now I (partially) understand why. I did dope for two years, almost two decades ago, and I remember the worst addicts raving about the glory of "peanut butter dope." This episode cuts deep. Gilligan did Mike-level research for this one!

One thing that strikes me is some of the mistakes Jimmy makes is the result of getting his law degree online, as Chuck said. He took shortcuts and as a result didn't get any practical experience. Most of those courses offer the bare minimum required to pass the bar exam and get licensed. As a result, he didn't do any clinics where he would go to court with supervision. He didn't do any internships where he would learn how law firms operate, he didn't get the opportunities to network.
Thing is, this is also true of a lot of people that attend state or private law schools. Not everyone takes advantage of or gets offered those opportunities and they, too, make the same sort of mistakes. They are just making stuff up as they go along, fighting for work in a crowded field that takes money to make money. Jimmy has the additional obstacle of years-long family baggage, triggers and bad habits. I can fault him but I can also sympathize with him. They are all great characters, brilliantly acted.

I don’t know who will possibly see this now so long after the fact, but I’ve been rewatching BB and Tuco is wearing those decorative boxing gloves around his neck when he is killed in season 2, episode 2 of BB! I don’t think this show makes mistakes, so I need to know how Tuco ends up getting those gloves back!

When Nikki asked why Mike didn't "pull the trigger" and instead took a beating for half the money Steven said he clearly wasn't there yet. But we know Mike has already admitted that he used to be a dirty cop and we've already seen him kill 2 officers. He clearly is willing to kill. I think maybe this was just less risky for him. I'm not sure what he'd be charged with if they found out that he instigated that fight for money but whatever it is it's not a murder charge. Also if Tuco was murdered a lot of people other than the police would be looking into it. Tuco going to prison for assaulting someone doesn't raise any questions with his family/crew. Nobody would suspect foul play.

🥊🌮🤫Tuco vs Mike - Mike was doing everything to make sure he looked like the helpless victim of an assault. For the record, if Mike was actually throwing hands with Tuco - Mike's skill versus Tuco's power - I think Mike would have beaten Tuco. He got rid of Tuco's gun no problem and we know Mike can take some serious hits.

I think so too. We've seen how he beat up Walt in the bar (albeit getting the first punch from out of nowhere) He's definitely a good example of not underestimating him just because he's a much older guy. He's got some brawn, yes, but he's got so much more brain.

*****SPOILER ALERT ONLY IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN BREAKING BAD******
Just a cool bit of Tuco trivia I heard.. the actor Raymond Cruz said it was very hard to play such an evil character and requested during BB that Tuco be killed off as he struggled to play such an insane villian, not that he wasn't good at it, as you know he was, but it put a strain on his soul playing such a character. I'm assuming anyone watching this knows the BB story so no spoiler.
