    Come on now, Genesis. Why didn't you keep the full width twin LED bars on the rear? This reminds me of what Acura did with the TLX translation.

    • @jonny5alive123

      The full width tail lights idea is going to date the current generation of cars so quickly once the idea goes out of fashion.
      Everyone is doing the same thing...

      @@jonny5alive123 So they chose the lights that date it now and means they miss out on sales numbers on release?

      The general rule of thumb in car design is when you make another version of the same car, make as little changes to the design as humanly possible. The twin LED bars on the rear would be too much of a deviation from the standard vehicle

      Add to the fact that the GV80 has a long 3rd brake light already. Three long-lights in the back will look overwhelming and not nice

      I can forgo the full width lights, but what I can't forgive is the tire treatment. What's missing is the stance that was present in the concept and can be seen in the German competition X6, Q8, GLE and the Cayenne. That's why this looks so naked. Or maybe there'll be a GV80 Sport with wider tires, which in itself doesn't make much sense.

    Remember when "coupe" meant a two door, three box car?

    • @MiniDevilDF
      @MiniDevilDF 9 місяців тому +3

      exactly, people these days have no clue what a coupe is lmao

    • @RDSyafriyar
      @RDSyafriyar 9 місяців тому +3

      Kind of tiring to see the "coupe" word thrown around into random bodies of 4-door cars for marketing stunts by the auto manufacturers. Blame Mercedes and BMW for kind of starting that trend that went rogue in the car scene. The CLS "4 door coupe" like was just like the E class saloon with a sportier roofline and styling whilst "coupe SUVs" like the X6 were kind of the same except on stilts and to an extent more bloated. The only type of 4-door cars that would fit and blend the coupe definition to me would be the 'quad coupes' like the Mazda RX-8 and Saturn Ion since you still had the style of a traditional coupe but with the hidden practicality of a saloon with the extra set of half-sized rear hinged doors to access the back seats.

  • @julianbrooks3672

    Somehow I agree with a lot of the things mentioned in the video, but disagree entirely with the overall message. The production version is the realistic model of a 'facelift' and it's still stunning. The concept is still #1, but it's meant purely to convey the stretch goals--which means a future GV80 coupe should match more closely. With some darker trim (which I believe I saw on one of the other showroom models) and bigger wheels you fix 90% of the exterior discrepancies. The interior design is still good--I also prefer the hooded dash. But I love newer tech so the new interior design wins.

    While I can agree that the production version of the GV80 Coupe doesn't look as planted as the concept, the GV80 Coupe is still one of the more attractive Coupe SUVs in my opinion, along with the Porsche Cayenne Coupe. But if I know anything about the Korean brands, they tend to be quick when it comes to updating things whether it be on the exterior or the interior.

    • @ismaeldah6512
      @ismaeldah6512 10 місяців тому +5

      Agreed for the most part but I do believe that the coupe looks too similar to an X4 which isn’t very attractive to begin with. Not bad looking but definitely not pretty. The concept actually looked like an actual coupe which played a huge role in the charm. They just fumbled on the rear end and i doubt that will get updated since facelifts usually just focus on the front and/or light changes ( light graphics, software, etc)

    Somebody I know mentioned they might be saving some of the changes for a “GV80 Coupe Sport” model with the right wheels and all the black trim instead of “black chrome”
    I think there are a few things they could do that would make this better even if they don’t add the tail light design
    1) ACTUAL BLACK TRIM
    2) The wheels as mentioned
    3) Adding a light bar ish section to the trunk area. This can’t cost that much
    4) Offer that orange color
    By the way they have a sporty trim now that has some black wheels that are mesh style and are only allowed on that model and there is no middle seat in the back. Maybe that’s the trim they ll use for a sportier coupe?

  • @senorgato70
    @senorgato70 10 місяців тому +5

    I think the main detractor seems to be in the very rear bubble back. IN the production model, it looks more inflated than in the concept and that makes it look more helmet-head and detracts from the sporty aggressive profile of the concept. They probably needed to make more headroom for the rear passengers, but if they want headroom, then they get the regular model, not the coupe.

    I hope you know that the massive screens on modern cars are seen by most buyers as a good thing. I hate it too, but manufacturers wouldn’t be making them if consumers didn’t want them. Hell, I know a person who will pick and choose her car based on the infotainment screen. I showed her the interior of an Alfa Romeo Giulia (it isn’t anything special, sure, but hang with me), and she said her main reason for it not being desirable was the screen not looking visually appealing (I assume she was looking for a screen like there was in the GV80). It’s sad, and I hate it too as I stated earlier, but that’s unfortunately the state of things as they stand right now

    • @brandontobias1338
      @brandontobias1338 10 місяців тому +2

      i'm okay with the screen but i'm a tech guy . That aside from a design and cost saving the screen is better. on the Design part you have less work to do and its either you integrate it or not plus it does give the dash a low cleanish view. On a cost saving front you are not getting a bleeding edge super high res screen anyway and there is less leather, plastic and wiring associated with a multiple displays and housings so they will always push the screen thing. Plus they have to compete with tesla we were happy with small screens until tesla showed up and said hey one big screen is better.

    I put off potentially buying a turbo charged G80 to wait for this BLAZING HOT ORANGE monster set to come out in 2024 but not only is the color not available, they've taken away the almost wrap around lights, the roll cage bars, the interior color scheme and the black wheels, to say the least SMMFH.
    I'm a proud Genesis owner but i feel they dropped the ball on this. If they are actually planning on releasing that Convertible X as is they definitely could've given me my BLAZING HOT ORANGE GV80 Coupe AS IS!!!

      Right, yet their design language is somebody else’s design language. That’s hilarious.

    Totally agree with you about the interior screen. I can’t stand these screens just planted on top of the dash instead of integrated into the dash. It looks so cheap. Great changes to exterior, then they brown it with the interior. All they needed to do is get rid of that grandpa oval steering wheel and the 2024 model would have been fantastic

    Looks like a paint job, front bumper kit and wide body kit would fix all the problems you have with the production model😊😂

    12:34 The only car which has full rear led is G90. I think they will keep it only G90 and GV90 Series
