I have just found out about this band through your channel. Thank you So much for reacting to another song so quickly after the first one. The drummer is just fantastic
People who discovered Band-Maid several years ago are prepared for anything (in a musical sense), because they have been gently preconditioned with the band's progress. But newcomers are in a risky situation now: if some unprepared guys jumped from Thrill to the Band-Maid latest songs like "Sense" or "Corallium" they could pass-out because of a sensory overload.
You looked so blissful after the song ended. In many ways, you are envied because you'll get to enjoy many of their songs for the first time. It's euphoric. Can't wait till you get your daughter on board too!
This is the tip of the ice burg that is Band-Maid! These amazing ladies were this good to start with, and have only gotten better over the years! I would suggest "Alone" for your next song, as it is the first song written completely by the band that was allowed onto an album!

I want to add YOLO to your list. Every time I listen to it, I hear something new I haven't heard before. For example, a few days ago I started hearing all the little things Kanami does on her guitar in the verses. She's an amazing guitarist and song writer.
This was my introduction to Band Maid and it was Saiki's voice that instantly grabbed my attention and then everything else as the song progressed. At this point Miku couldn't play guitar and if you concentrate on her she is clearly pretending (badly). Within a couple of years under the tutorship of Sensai Kanami she became a solid player and now she is much more than that to the extent that she is often driving the music along with that crunchy Zemaitis she plays. Oh and she of course she has a her own Zemaitis signature model 'Flappy Pigeon' .
Agreed. It was this that got me into them right at the start and it's been a joyful ride ever since, watching their development and getting to know their personalities. Just one thing though, a sensai is a child by one's former (first) wife. Sensei is a teacher/instructor. Best wishes, fellow maidiac. :)

This was their do or die song/video. At that moment they didn't know about it but they heard it several years later. Thank God it became "do", otherwise most of us have never heard of them. What's amazing about them - they have over 100 songs in their bag and none of them are bad! Isn't that proof that they know how to make good music, then I don't know what is? I just say SUPER BAND-MAID!
I'd probably say it's more late 90's early 2000's when grunge met pop, just from the first minute or so it then had the 80's metal sound... Love how it's women as well weren't enough around back in the 2000's
The thing I love about their older songs is that the their punk influences are so clear. both in sound and the way Kanami moves with her guitar in the background sometimes.
This is their breakout MV. This was posted on Facebook and in 2 weeks it had 2 million views. At first they thought the MV was hacked, it wasn't. The surprise was that about 45% of the views were from Europe and the US. Things changed rapidly for them, performed in Seattle, WA with their largest audience, 3000, to date. Next was Mexico, from there annual tours in Europe and the US. In 2019 they had 5 sold-out concerts in the US. They've announced a US tour this year with cites TBD. They did not write this song, record company would not accept their songs. As soon as they were an established band, Miku dumped them and signed with a bigger record company. I believe Saiki is 19 yo in this video and the band tricked her into joining the band!
Well, not quite. Their first label, Gump, is part of their management agency, Platinum Passport, who they're still with. So they moved up to a "real" label, but they didn't "dump" anybody. Then the move from Crown Stones to Revolver was lateral; both are sub-labels of Nippon Crown. There doesn't seem to be any relationship between Nippon Crown and current label Pony Canyon, but a lot of business ties in the Japanese music industry are "off the books," so it wouldn't be surprising if that move by Band-Maid was mutually agreed upon by the two companies.
I love seeing this MV, brings back the old memories! Saiki holding the mic like a life saver. Miku using the guitar as an ornament (she's such a good guitarist now!) Akane with the little hat! MISA is wearing shoes! Kanami... well, Kanami is already a bada$$ guitarist 😉(and adorable)
After enjoying my time with SCANDAL I sought out some new Japanese rock and dropped on this very song. Several years later I'm the owner of practically all their CD's.. lol.
In their early days they often wore red. this was sortof them switching from part red to just the black. You might also notice the outfits, while not identical, are a lot more similar back then. The singer, Saiki, was the first to personalise her outfit as she hated the apron, and ripped it off. That (probably) started them down the road of being more individual. This was their first video, and the story goes that if this had flopped, the label would have dropped them. It got noticed and put on a facebook page though, and went viral, which really caught the band out. They joked they thought their account had been hacked as it just exploded. What you'll also notice about their sound is that they remind you of earlier styles, without ever really sounding like them.
So I saw your "Domination" video yesterday, and I knew I recognized you from something, which was weird since it was your first Band-Maid reaction. Can you imagine how much we would have shit our pants if we went to an Iron Maiden concert back in the 80s and these girls opened for them. I would have been freaking out. Gene Simons would have these ladies signed in a heart beet. LOL.
It's funny. When you first look at their videos, you see these attractive young women wearing maid costumes, and they bow your face off with their hard rock music. But there is more. Look up their official acoustic video, "Catharsis", and you will see how absolutely talented this group is.
7:43 No, you're right, those instruments in the hands of those ladies ARE weapons of mass destruction. BAND-MAID is a sonic superpower. I mean, they have stated on multiple occasions that their goal is "World Domination". Not even Putin will F around with BAND-MAID. 🕊 The lyrics are there to glance at once and awhile to get the gist of the song. At least on the first watch.
Did you notice that Miku (rhythm guitar, vocals) wasn't shown playing her guitar much in this video? She was less than a year into learning the instrument at this time. It's fun if you move chronologically through their videos watching her improvement. If you're into gear it's also good to watch for when they upgrade. Kanami went from Addictone to PRS; Miku from Rickenbacker to Zemaitis; MISA from a Fender 4-string to Black Cloud 5-Strings; Akane from a Sonor 4-piece to a Tama 5-piece.
This 2015 video was the make-it-or-break-it video for Band Maid. In fact at this point Miku couldn't even play the guitar since she thought she was only going to be a vocalist in the band. However this video did so well they decided that Band-Maid was going to be a successful project and that gave them the exposure and financial wherewithal to get started. This is before Misa and Saiki started dressing Gothic. Band-Maid is Jimmy Page approved!
Saiki phoned & thanked me for wishing her a happy Birthday. She said she'd made an anagram message out of her name for me, "I aim kiss at u", which was nice of her.🤭
Thrill is really what started Band-Maid's journey to become a hard rock band. The group started in 2013, but a year before Thrill (2014) received over two million views in the first weeks of release on Facebook, the Maids hadn't played much rock music at all. And the 2nd guitarist, founder and lyricist, Miku, didn't even know how to play guitar. It's an incredible story and we are so lucky they stayed together during those early years to become, in my mind, the best hard rock band on the planet! Thanks, E-Beard!
@@RahimRahmat He's not kidding. There are several pictures of all of the ladies pedal boards. Kanami has a pretty large selection, MISA has about 2/3rds of what Kanami does and Miku has about 1/2 of what MISA does. Plus her sharks. Oh and MISA has her Lego Minifig.
If you indeed follow up on Band Maid you will see that they're style of music is never held to one way of composition, They are they're own genre, Band Maid has no rival's, hopefully you will check this unbelievable band out more and more, NEVER disappointing, Band Maid is simply the best!
I relive my actual first time hearing Band Maid through these new comers. Seeing their feelings of surprise and excitement at something so unexpected is truly great. The ladies deliver another Maidiac.
A British comedy and TV shows and Japanese Rock reaction channel sounds great! This is, as you said, an early one of theirs and not one they wrote themselves but they were kicking ass even here, 8 years ago. A song they released a few months ago was used as the title music to an anime, 'Sense' ua-cam.com/video/BWN6iOFjm9U/v-deo.html . It's basically brilliant but that doesn't make it stand out from their 100+ song catalogue as everything they create always is. Really, if they ever release "Indiana Jones and the Quest for a Bad Band-Maid Song" it's going to be a failed mission for him and a box office flop.
They are Guns-n-Roses, if GnR were 5 small Japanese women who branched out into progressive, jazz, and pop punk as well. And, oh yeah, they play the F out of their instruments.
Great reaction....Your journey is just starting. When your talking about this band. You never know what your going to hear. They add elements of Jazz, Heavy Metal, Hard Rock, Prog, Thrash, Funk, Punk, Grunge, Grove, Pop and others. If your a fan of music, keep watching. You haven't even scratched the surface of this band...Check out the you tube video of Manners and Black Hole. Booth songs are together. Those songs will get you there.....
Before Miku learned how to be a decent rhytm guitarist she had more singing parts. Great older song in which both singers are switching is Freezer. Miku (rhytm) has a song on almost every album, where she sings a lead.
Oh boy Mr Eclectic Beard, you are in for a fun filled journey with these ladies! Try these live videos of theirs 'Play', 'Real Existence', or the awesome instrumental 'Onset'. Music video's try 'Dice', 'Secret My Lips' or 'Warning'. There is no turning back now.....
BAND-MAID`s fan base is known as the Maidiac`s , this video has a special place in the hearts of Maidiac`s , with out this video and it being posted on one of there social media accounts n receiving over 200 million in a few days world wide , there would be no BAND-MAID .
Band Maid blends so many genres. Just wait and you'll see. This song has a hard rockin 70s/80s vibe. I'd suggest the following Band Maid songs: Manners, Dice, Bubble, No God, Warning (live) & The Dragon Cries
Oh man! Second video in and I've only just realised you're the guy I watch reacting to British TV/comedy from when I was a kid...Rising Damp, Billy Connoly etc... I knew you were familiar but where's the belly laughs??? :-)) Mate, I hope you're digging my favourite band here...I fell into the "pigeon hole" during lockdown with this Thrill and then Domination Live. Jeez they can make rock music...just as exciting as when I first raided my older bro's vinyl...Queen, Deep Purple, Motorhead, Van Halen etc... Follow the ton of suggestions and the surprises will keep coming. As you said in the last video...hope your daughter digs them...great role-models. Down to earth, goofy, likeable...but SERIOUS talent. 'Manners/Black Hole' shows a bluesy rock vibe followed by some proggy sci-fi concept...lyrics great too. See ya soon Beard :-)
Mr Simmons here definitely begins as a fan of Saiki. I find it interesting how different people begin in different camps, but inevitably gets round to all the members as time progresses. Having said that, I like the overall appreciation of the band. Of course, many people in the comments have pointed out that this can be considered their first major hit way back in 2015. This song was written for them rather than by them (though I understand they had much input in the creation of the song). Dear Miku Kobato (the second vocalist) did not really know how to play the guitar properly yet. They were all dressed in the maid uniforms that you see in the video. Much has changed and improved (like tremendously) and I remain amazed by their evolution. Please do take extra note of how they are like in this video, for it gives you a chronological starting point for Band-Maid.
BAND-MAID ancient history...had this song not clicked, BAND-MAID would likely have disbanded. BTW, that Rick 620 that Miku has is no more than an ornament at this point in her career. She couldn't play it...until Kanami decided to teach her to play. From a non-player to a credible rhythm player with an endorsement from Zemaitis...and her own Flappy Pigeon Signature guitar. If memory serves, one of the regular Maidiacs in these comments bought one; sadly, they don't come in lefty, so I couldn't get one.
Band Maid is great! Please also consider reacting to the Japanese band Scandal as well. They started as punk pop, but have expanded to many genres of rock. The lead singer of Scandal is also good friends with the drummer of Band Maid. Scandal - A.D.M.J.K. ua-cam.com/video/3pDpYur3Nwc/v-deo.html Scandal - Masterpiece ua-cam.com/video/t-qVp94jB1o/v-deo.html Thanks!
Miku's voice for me is the perfect partner to Saiki's, this is the last chance video where if it didn't get them noticed they were done, and once it got seen overseas they got the notice. and the way you see Miku here not being able to play guitar at all (they literally hung it round her neck and said don't kill anyone with it) to see where she is now is shocking. ua-cam.com/video/tGXzhxXVimY/v-deo.html Don't you tell ME (great video that shows off the bands personalities) ua-cam.com/video/mVrN-j_Uc0U/v-deo.html Onset (great instrumental )
Better fasten your seatbelt because you are in for the ride of your life this is what band maid dose they are changing and rewriting the music history books they are the greatest band to come along in a long time saiki just had her 28th birthday so if you really want to see her range check out daydreaming this song alone defines who they are not to mention the other 100 songs that will leave you in awe band maid the living legends enjoy also how many bans5that, you know of have nicknames ready miku aka pigeon, saiki the ice queen ,misa the barefoot assassin, akane gorilla and my favorite the lead guitarist composer of most of their songs kanami the princess ( I think she's a guitar goddess that's just me ) be well
Another amazing song, these ladies can do no wrong, awesome reaction, another superb Japanese band you should check out is Mary's Blood and their song Marionette, absolutely amazing band.
You could have done with this 2 years ago !!!!!!! Band-Maid members are: SAIKI Atsumi (Sy-i-Key or Psyche) “Ice Queen" - Lead vocals, arrangements and melodies. At 27 and the youngest, “Sensei” (Teacher) as band members call her, has the last word on many musical decisions. High-heels or sneakers, Sai-chan’s smile melts away her sometimes perceived, coldish persona. Saiki’s powerhouse performances, charisma, and voice focus the experience that’s driven her to the top echelon of hard rock front women... or front men! MIKU Kobato (Me-Ku) "Small Pigeon" - Rhythm guitar, vocals, lyricist, 29 years old. “Koba”, as Saiki calls her, is the Band founder and a firecracker MC & PR Spokes Pigeon, po! Her “Magic Spell Time” charm and energy ignite the room. Just as a side Kanami taught Miku to play after the band was formed. KANAMI Tono (Ka-Na-Me) “Princess” - Lead guitar, keyboards, 29 years old, is a prolific writer of most Band-Maid material. Kanami (translates “Song Wave”) is a possessed riff-slayer who’s so damn adorable it hurts. The only thing you want is more! AKANE Hirose (A-Ka-Nay) "Gorilla" - Drums, 30 years old, band energizer & co-clown with MISA. Achi’s talents include massive consumption of noodles and bananas, of course, (even during performance!) while revolutionizing rock drumming with relentless drive, dynamics and the kick. This “DrumZilla” is the Party! MISA (Me-Sa) "Barefoot Assassin" - Bass, 28 years old. An alluring free spirit driving her 5-string to rapturous low-ends while pulling off surprising counter leads with Kanami, off-stage MISA is the band’s goofball ballerina. Sometimes seen as the Mysterious One because she lets her instrument do the talking, the Assassin literally kills it… every note uniting Band-Maid’s world-class rhythm section. A slug of JB, a slight grin, and let the slappin’ begin… MISA! MISA! MISA!
This is the first video from them. This is like the junior varsity version of Band Maid when they are All Stars at this point. You can tell they are a little unconformable here and not exactly sure WHAT to do. That is no longer the case. Not by a long shot.
Now then EB, I've seen them pop up in my suggestions now and again, always thought they looked a bit gimmicky and style over substance, but after watching your reaction to the live performance, they've managed to marry both perfectly.
MISA MISA MISA! Nostalgia Nostalgia Nostalgia! 2014 Sai-chan still hasn't learned how to use her hands (holding on to the mike stand like it is a life preserver) and is wearing an apron MISA wearing shoes and using a 4 string Miku holding the Guitar like its a weapon (or neck ornament) not an instrument Mincho before she changed to PRS Guitars and of course A-chan still with the little hat (and strangely not smiling)
yo man grreat video again been watching for a while was wondering if you could react to a uk scouse comedian who just take the piss out of the crowd his name is paul smith
The new "Uniforms" are a little bit Loli Goth. But if you look back over all the styles of outfits they've had them all! Black, Red & even Plaid. But this is their very first Music Video from years ago. Are you going chronologically?
If you want to branch out take a look at Postmodern Jukebox who do covers in an older style. A good start would be Creep from Radiohead(Covered by Haley Reinhart 103mil hits), or Dream On from Aerosmith (Covered By Morgan James only 25mil hits but good)
Always great to see another fan develop! They are just amazing. 🤘
I have just found out about this band through your channel.
Thank you So much for reacting to another song so quickly after the first one.

'Majesty of a band' what a great line especially seeing as Saiki is our queen !

Absolutely correct, I'm glad I've had six years of exposure to be at this point.
Not to mention moritoruim, Dice vm, Rinne vm No God, and then back to daydreaming, then wonderland, and about us. Don't forget Band Maiko.

Every addition is an excellent addition 😀 . Blooming, Real Existence, YOLO, all bring something new to the table.
I would also add Don't you tell ME. Has probably their catchiest chorus ever. The Live version of course, with the MISA vs Kanami battle.

Saiki went from singer to the Queen of Rock
@@kakqu I thought about looking to see what mics she’s used, but I decided against it.
100 plus more songs to Go.All Bangers.
She said she'd made an anagram message out of her name for me, "I aim kiss at u", which was nice of her.🤭
Now that's fluffy Gary.😁
Very poetic of her 😁
@@jeremydawkins8814 I couldn't help it.🤷♂️
@@madsstavang I know Mads, Sai-chan surprised me out of the blue.😄
@@GaryHolloway-810 it's almost as if you like them somewhat. Possibly, probably, maybe 🤔😁
Enjoyed your reaction. It is impossible to pay attention to the words and music on 1st listen. Just enjoy the music and look up the lyrics later.
this is the first song I ever heard from them that got me hooked 👍
You like their live songs with bass solo's, Don't You Tell Me, Play, On Set, Turn Me On, Take Me Higher, Dice, No God, Secret My Lips.. 😀
You're not wrong about the guitar sound. As a matter of fact, Kanami's pedalboard has a pedal that's labeled, in English, as "CRUNCH".
Wait, you're not pulling our leg, right? I suppose everyone else would have commented if you were, so... wow!
@@RahimRahmat I'm serious - there are pictures of Kanami's pedalboard out there.
@@Glenner7 Way too cool.... 👍😊
Ningen Isu - Heartless Scat for the Male equvolent EB you won't be disapointed.
If you indeed follow up on Band Maid you will see that they're style of music is never held to one way of composition, They are they're own genre, Band Maid has no rival's, hopefully you will check this unbelievable band out more and more, NEVER disappointing, Band Maid is simply the best!
7 yrs old MV but still sounds good. also they look very young!
Reacting to "Daydreaming" and "Blooming" will seal the deal ........you'll get hooked past the barb, no gettin' loose.
Weapons was a very appropriate analogy to use!!!
Beautiful women, uplifting they feel like they can blow the clouds away.👍🏻
They're simply the best rock band on the planet right now.
I think calling their instruments weapons is acceptable. :D
Especially as they call their maid outfits their battle armour!
Band Maid, is incredible.
What sets Saiki apart from other J-Rock and Pop singers is that she sings in a slightly lower octave which gives her a more mature sounding voice
They are Guns-n-Roses, if GnR were 5 small Japanese women who branched out into progressive, jazz, and pop punk as well. And, oh yeah, they play the F out of their instruments.
I agree but would Sai-rose jump into the crowd & start punching fans?
@@GaryHolloway-810 Nope. I forgot that part, my mistake. Another difference from GnR: these ladies are all sane.
Agreed, one of my faves too
Oh boy Mr Eclectic Beard, you are in for a fun filled journey with these ladies!
Greatness.
This is the song that started my Japanese journey. Next came Lovebites and then Nemophila. So my recommendation for next one is: Nemophila - Revive
Dude...you need to check Manners, Black hole ( live ) band maid...
It's a twofer..thanks stay safe
☝️they are on band maid UA-cam channel...
Great band,Think you would enjoy the track Manners, classic blues rock. Always enjoy your videos.Especially the Guy Martin stuff.
Band Maid blends so many genres. Just wait and you'll see. This song has a hard rockin 70s/80s vibe.
I'd suggest the following Band Maid songs: Manners, Dice, Bubble, No God, Warning (live) & The Dragon Cries
This band is amazing! you should check out their song "sense", i literally cant stop listening to it!
I’m inclined to say that Band Maid has a song to suit any mood, however the truth is…. I’m always in the mood for Band Maid.
You were correct in calling them Weapons. \m/
Back already? Good choice! :) If you're a Saiki fan (lead singer) you might want to check out their song Real Existence.
In terms of nice thick chug sound with an aggressive attack, I'm reminded of Helmet from the early '90s. "Unsung" by them is a great place to start.
This is their first official music video back in 2014 that started it all.
Another good reaction ..
I am sure your daughter would have cleared things up as far as the bands outfits .
Scandal - A.D.M.J.K. ua-cam.com/video/3pDpYur3Nwc/v-deo.html
Scandal - Masterpiece ua-cam.com/video/t-qVp94jB1o/v-deo.html
Thanks!
BAND-MAID is the best HARD-ROCK band on this Planet in my not so humble opinion.
Miku's voice for me is the perfect partner to Saiki's, this is the last chance video where if it didn't get them noticed they were done, and once it got seen overseas they got the notice. and the way you see Miku here not being able to play guitar at all (they literally hung it round her neck and said don't kill anyone with it) to see where she is now is shocking.
ua-cam.com/video/tGXzhxXVimY/v-deo.html Don't you tell ME (great video that shows off the bands personalities)
ua-cam.com/video/mVrN-j_Uc0U/v-deo.html Onset (great instrumental )
The brain behind this band is Kanami the lead guitar
Band-Maid members are:
SAIKI Atsumi (Sy-i-Key or Psyche) “Ice Queen" - Lead vocals, arrangements and melodies.
MISA! MISA!
We love them as we love channels like this,
Just what the internet needs. Another reaction video.
The grunge version of Babymetal, awesome
Saiki's name is written using the kanji for "princess" so you're onto something there
Interesting how much you're talking about Saiki..... today is her 28th birthday.
MISA MISA MISA!
Nostalgia Nostalgia Nostalgia! 2014
Sai-chan still hasn't learned how to use her hands (holding on to the mike stand like it is a life preserver) and is wearing an apron
MISA wearing shoes and using a 4 string
Miku holding the Guitar like its a weapon (or neck ornament) not an instrument
Mincho before she changed to PRS Guitars
and of course
A-chan still with the little hat (and strangely not smiling)
yo man grreat video again been watching for a while was wondering if you could react to a uk scouse comedian who just take the piss out of the crowd his name is paul smith
The new "Uniforms" are a little bit Loli Goth. But if you look back over all the styles of outfits they've had them all! Black, Red & even Plaid. But this is their very first Music Video from years ago. Are you going chronologically?
Shonen knife! Shonen knife! :).
There's lots of things is like from that bass player. But first would be teach me to play like that.
I recommend their "the non-fiction days"
If you want to branch out take a look at Postmodern Jukebox who do covers in an older style. A good start would be Creep from Radiohead(Covered by Haley Reinhart 103mil hits), or Dream On from Aerosmith (Covered By Morgan James only 25mil hits but good)
