    Mincho is a genius. Tony Iommi is the riff master. Kanami is the mad scientist of riffage. Call the Burgermeister. She must be stopped as she is creating the most monstrous of riffs. She is the perfect example of why Internet searches are so important. And it is good The Pigeon knew how to hunt and peck on the keyboard to perform the search. Band-Maid would not be the same without Kanami. Every band needs a genius like her. 😍

    Hi Alan, thanks for the multiple mentions. Really enjoyed your take on Kanami's pedal board and covering the basics of each pedal. I picked up the Vemuram Jan Ray last time I went to Japan. Got it for under $300 new. This pedal sounds amazing, very high quality. I used it to play Led Zeppelin's Kashimir at a Buddhist temple with taiko drums 🥁
    I didn't know that wah pedal by Steve Vai has auto on off. I'd like to get that. My Dunlop crybaby requires extra push to turn it on or off

    Thank you Alan.
    One important point is that for Kanami, this huge board is used to add effects for each of the 3 channel settings set on the amp.
    So, this board and the Bogner amp must be considered together.
    The channels are switched via MIDI, and the parameters of each pedal are flexibly changed accordingly, controlling the presets together with the techs backstage.
    This alone is art...

    Thank you Alan. I like listening to people who know what they are talking about nerding around and about tech in the back. That was a very good informative video - as Yoshi‘s was. Please more of it. And I know now, why I don’t get Kanami‘s tone right, I just didn’t invest enough money yet … but I also get the vague feeling this isn’t the only reason 😊

      Investing is half the battle, playing style is a huge factor too. I have noticed player with a heavier hand use less pedals and player with a lighter hand use more pedals.

    I'm very interested in recreating Kanami's tone, but I have to do it on a bit of a budget, so some of the pedals showcased here are off the table for me. What would be some more affordable alternatives for stuff like the Vemuram Jan Ray, Free The Tone Flight-Time, and Eventide Time Factor?

    I see. Being the SEAL Team 6 of Japanese Hard Rock, it's only natural Mincho gets only the best gear for their missions. Which they perform to perfection. Maybe Mincho has a name for each of her pedals, like Wah Wah-san, Let's Go Popo-san, Marry Me Saiki-san etc.
    My air guitar only requires beer for effects, the cheap kind. It sounds just like Kanami's guitar in my head. People around me headbang (it's weird because it's side headbang, left-right-left-right-left-right-sigh-...) when I play air guitar. I bet Misa would appreciate me😌

    Never understood the need for a ton of pedals. I have clean, rhythm distortion and lead distortion with a touch of reverb (if needed). All in amp. Only external is a volume pedal.
    Last thing I need to think about while playing is, did I hit the right button.
    How I play determines my sound not so much the effect.

    • @fimasstet89
      @fimasstet89 12 днів тому

      Depends on the music you play and what sound you want from your instrument. Of course, if you play country or traditional blues then a guitar and an amplifier are enough, but Band-Maid is a different case. How do you, for example, play a solo with a wammy if you don't have a wammy?

    • @altonT
      @altonT 12 днів тому

      @@fimasstet89 Bon Jovi once had Jeff Beck come in and add guitar to a song, not sure which song. He said Jeff came in with a guitar in a cardboard box, plugged into an amp with no pedals, and proceeded to drop jaws. Not saying effects don't come in handy, how you actually play can get you to the same place many times.

    • @fimasstet89
      @fimasstet89 12 днів тому

      @@altonT I agree. But effect pedals are just as much a music creation tool as a guitar. If Kanami uses a huge pedalboard, then she needs it that way. I've seen a lot of live Maids and Kanami's sound (like the other members) has always been impeccable.
