Great reaction! In defense of Thrill-you'll get some fans dismissively calling this track weak, or condescendingly saying "they get better." Fiddlesticks. It's a great track, a perfect vehicle for BM to blow up, and a crystal clear intro to the band and their "gap" concept. Why does it matter if it's their first song or Miku wasn't playing yet, Kanami didn't write it, or they have more technically complex songs? That takes nothing away from this. Thrill is a smart, well produced showcase that broke Band Maid to the world, and it still rocks. Bands would kill for a track with 13M views. So suck it, Thrill haters.
Exactly my thoughts. I even get a little annoyed sometimes when people are calling it what you mentioned. I absolutely like this song and this is so far away from "weak" as the earth from the moon.
Kinda Like Chicken I saw this video back in 2014 and I got hooked right off the bat.......Akane, Kanami, and Misa together sealed the deal...and I admit that little bomb of cuteness Miku stole my heart.....Saiki voice just buried me......that this song was written for them does not matter...it's what the ladies did with it that count.....they took the song and blew it out of the water.......
This is just the beginning, their first and oldest music video. As much as this one blows your socks off, they've had a whole lot of growth and improvement since. It only gets better.
Excellent reaction! New sub. This is their debut video shot about six or so years ago. They've come a long way since then. They're also much more of a live band. I'd recommend "Freedom" next. It's a live video shot this past February, That way, you can see how far they've come, plus see what they can do an stage. Akane, the drummer, has a special treat in store with this one. Band Maid - "Freedom" (live): ua-cam.com/video/FHpuEqMAcDg/v-deo.html
They might be cute, but they are FOR SURE real rockgirls in their heart. All of them are exceptional talented musicians/entertainer... What i really love is that they are not casted like most of the asian "idol groups". They found each other in a really cool way, if you continue watching them, i gonna write in the comments, that you get a better picture... It´s sad that other bands getting so much attention instead of these hard working ladies! And LIVE they are even SO MUCH better, a fantastic group and i am glad i found them! Real rock is hard to find these days. Greetings from Germany! Stay healthy!
What are the odds that Miku decides to start a rock band who wear maid outfits and finds an incredibly talented guitarist songwriter riff machine named Kanami from an online video. Kanami just happens to know one of the most amazing drummers on the planet (Akane) who just happens to know an incredibly talented bass player named MISA (they went to music school together). They then just happen to find the the incredible voice of Saiki. It's like this band was meant to be and was put together by the music gods!!!!
Thrill is the song that drew me into the rabbit hole. All of their official live videos and their music videos are awesome. This is a very old video of their. They have gotten so much better over time.
I was right next to you on the way into that Hole, and I was HOOKED!!! never looked back. These ladies are no gimmick, no "Baby Metal'" .... they're the Real Deal. I'm THRILLED I discovered them. The Maids just keep getting better and better.
Onset, an instrumental song. The dragon cries. Moratorium. Take me higher. Turn me on. Puzzle. Blooming . All great songs. Thrill was their first hit. They have grown so much since, the best live rock band. Miku, the rythum guitarist, worked in a maid cafe, while in school. She loves rock, and thought what a bigger gap, then to wear maid outfits and rock. But yes, Kanami is great, a great guitarist and composer. I am a Kanami fanboy, she is right there with EVH, Slash, Neil Schon,David Gilmor, John Petrucci, Al Pitrelli, Cris Olivia, Rhoades with me. The maid outfits are their image, sets them apart. Not a gimmick. These girls rock, and their music is what shines. The way Kanami, or Akane smile while riffing, shredding away, is just so wonderful. They seem to love playing, and genuinely want to bring you fun, joy. Nightwish another band does this for me. Nemophila is another all girl japanese band, formed last year with freinds, each in different bands. Their song Raikei. But music is universal, whatever language its in.
Not only is this the song that introduced BAND-MAID to me, but it is also my pick me up song when my day is not going right for me. Just as BAND-MAID's songs get better after this MV so does my day after listening to it. Has never failed me yet.
I knew you would like this! Band-maid is my 3rd favorite band after Nightwish and Heart. Just wait until you see Domination ua-cam.com/video/QbyQCJn6rYg/v-deo.html And welcome to all the Band-Maidiacs!
This very much their maidette stage, these days they are so so so much more than this. Miku couldn't play, Saiki wasn't very confident up front and most importantly Kanami hadn't started writing the music. These girls are now unquestionably the best hard Rock band on the planet. Miku's lyrics are deep as hell, Kanami's writing is reaching Toumas Holopainen levels, Saiki owns the stage and MISA and Akane's musicianship has reached levels other band only wish for, I generally advise people to avoid Thrill because it's so raw but too late I guess lol, glad you enjoyed it, the good news is it only gets better from here on. If you want to follow a development of style try doing this order. Real existence > Non Fiction Days > Don't you tell ME > Dice > Blooming > Different, but as everyone will tell you Live is where they excel with freedom > Play > Onset and Wonderland being particular highlights, although you could put 30 songs by them on and not find one that isn't great, I can only think of 3 songs by them that only make it to good, this being one of them. Welcome to pigeon worship.
New subscriber here. Throughly enjoyed the reaction especially as your mind was blown at the solos and looking forward to your journey into band maid 😊 you won’t be disappointed and never fail to make you feel good! Hope you are well in this crazy time and merry Christmas 🎄🎅🏼
Though many people are suggesting “Freedom”, I think different people have different tastes in that song, especially in first impression. Akane’s drumming in that song is absolutely amazing, so I like Freedom, but I don’t love that. My recommendations are Blooming(mv),Dice(mv),Domination(live video) and Onset(live video). these are all on their official UA-cam, and l am sure that these songs will make you feel more rock.
@@bolleaoibhe2840 Yeah, that’s cool! Moratorium is my favorite. Anything else? Of course, Screaming, Turn me on, Take me higher, Liberal, and so on...but unfortunately these are not on their official YT :'-(
Welcome to the Fellowship of Maidiacs. I mean, how many rock bands have a lead guitarist with a university degree in economics and a drummer who started out as a trombone player?
if you watch their live videos you wont stop smiling, they have so much energy and they way they interact with the crowd and especially each other will have you beaming
You ain't see nothing yet...try real existance, puzzle, alone, morotarium, and watch the live version, be prepared to be amazed...bandmaid4life 🤘🤘🤘kuuruuuppooo....
Talk about throwing a match in some gasoline lol... Yeah this band is probably the best hard rock band around today. They are even better live. Misa , the bassist, is amazing. The drummer Akane is mind blowing good. The whole band is overloaded with talent. I would probably assume you will be purchasing a lot of their music very soon . Lol. Also good timing on finding this band.... they will be releasing a new album soon, their new song, Different....which dropped like a week ago is gonna blow your head off. 🤟🏻
A reminder, that Different is a single and not expected to be on the album next month. It was and is theme song for anime series "Log Horizon" third season. Kanami had the basic idea for musical approach already, so when they were asked, she completed it with Miku writing lyrics to give the feeling of the action in that series. The muse of melody prepared her and that tune in advance...
I second this suggestion. FREEDOM live: ua-cam.com/video/FHpuEqMAcDg/v-deo.html This one is more poppy and joyous. A special song for them to goof around during the show.

This was Band Maid in their infancy, today they are the best band in the world bar none! I would suggest "Choose Me" live from the 2/14/20 show. This is a good representation, has English captions that translate pretty well, and a sick guitar solo! 🎶🎸🥁🎸🎶🔥🙂
The original official MV of Choose Me was the first I saw and heard them four years ago, and I was hooked. But they are constantly playing with the existing material so in live shows it is always fresh and better!
Thrill was my first video, I fell down the rabbit hole and arrived in Band-Maid land. I was instantly in love with them. I've not been disappointed in anything they've done. They are simply the best band in the world now. You'll be amazed with their live shows, they sound unbelievably better than the recorded track.
God, it's 5.08 am here in London - I should be in bed!!! Just saw your first reaction to Bandmaid - super awesome! But I wanted to draw your attention to another Japanese all female band called 'Lovebites' who I guarantee you'll love Jen. Absolutely unbelievable musicians - plenty of guitar solos and one of the guitarists also plays piano to a very high standard! I'm going to bed!🤪😴 Night!!!
@@bruthabluto8824 I have 2 stents in my heart but, dangerous as it would be, I'd risk it to see Miku live. I only just managed to make it through a Babymetal concert in Feb, especially as it was only 2000 audience and I had to keep pinching myself to believe I was in the same room as Su and Moa!
You picked the perfect song to start with... punchy, raw rock n roll and it just gets better and better... Id suggest "Don;t let me Down" the MV... as a great next step.
So many people come to Band Maid through this song. - A masterpiece in its own right. Ticks all the boxes. - So many little details to look out for in the MV and like a chocolate box of delights musically. 4 minutes of pure rock perfection. :)
Great reaction! Thought you'd love them. No other band breaks new gate like Band-Maid. Just for a moment, forget they're all female and forget they're dressed as maids. Two members (MISA - Bass, Akane - Drums) are classically trained pianists and musicians who studied at the Tokyo Academy of Music while Kanami, the lead guitarist, has also been playing piano since the age of 3 or 4 but is concert standard (almost unbelievably, given her skills, she only switched to guitar about 10 years ago!) They all have superb musical ability as well as passion, a lack of ego and the drive to play real, in your face, Rock which is why they are THE best live Rock band on Earth right now. OK, now that's explained, you can go back and marvel at how cute those outfits look and how incredibly beautiful all the band members are. The only band I've seen that is playing live like bands I went to see in the 70's, such as Led Zeppelin or Sabbath or Zappa. Music they write themselves, real guitars, drums and bass played loudly and with passion as well as powerful Rock vocals. They are all really close friends and know how to have fun together on stage, confident as they are in each others’ abilities and skills. They've revived the classic Rock sound and given the genre a much needed kick in the ass, as Babymetal have done for Metal (HINT, HINT, MORE BABYMETAL PLEASE!). Future reactions I'd recommend, as they really shine brightest live, would be from the DVD they released in April. Formed in 2013, they continued to perform in small venues in Japan and were not popular. In 2015, they were on the verge of breaking up, but suddenly their Instagram was exposed to connections from abroad. They suspected that their account had been stolen. That's because the first video "Thrill" released in the winter of 2014 was posted on a popular site that introduces Japanese pop culture overseas without their knowledge. From there, they were invited to pop festivals to introduce Japanese culture abroad, and went to the United States, England, Spain, and so on. They escaped the dissolution and decided to work as a hard rock band. It can be said that they discovered their charm overseas rather than in Japan. Following that, the number of Japanese fans is increasing.
On it's own, Thrill is a great track. It's just having seen the band come into their own, knowing Konami is writing the songs and everyone else given space to flex...ohh and that Miku actually followed through and not only learned how to play guitar but is an absolutely beastly rhythm guitar on top of being solid backing vocals. Everything more recent just leaves this really solid song in the dust.
You said SO MANY things in this reaction that had my thinking, "Oh my, just you wait." I've been a metalhead since 83 and grew up listening to basically every metal band you can think of. Not since Pantera has a hard rock or metal band touched my spirit the way Band Maid has. They are still the only band I've gotten on a plane for and stood in line for 14+ hours so I can be on the rail. You can pull a song title out of hat and not go wrong (though there is one I'd skip "over"). Try a live video next time....trust me on this.
One thing is still the same to this day: their groove! Were they doing the arrangement of this song at least? They must have been involved in the production of the song in some way. It has the distinct band-maid feel compared to their even earlier stuff.
Great reaction. Just think, this is the band's first MV of a song that they didn't write, and it's only gotten better since then. As musicians, the band has come a long way and become one of the best in the world: compare their most recent release "Don't be long" (an instrumental) to this song and you'll be stunned. In addition, they've been writing their own music for years now (well, Kanami the lead guitarist writes their music), and personally I think it's their next-level songwriting skills coupled with their unique chemistry that elevate this band above its peers. Sub'd for more Band-Maid.
Your cardinal rule of not stopping during guitar solo's (and bass, drums...) will be sorely tested by these absolutely amazing ladies. Welcome to the world of Band Maid.
Welcome aboard, Jen. You are embarking on (along with many others - over 95 million YT views!) an awesome hard-rock journey with 5 incredible women. Here's my intro blurb for those who may be new to Band-Maid:
BAND-MAID’s songs and sound beat with the heart and soul of all rockers. But you’ll also hear heavy influences of Punk, Metal and Pop, with nice touches of Blues, Funk and Grunge. Sometimes they use multiple genres within the same song. Their Composition, Execution, Consistency (over a 100 songs with their latest album, “Conqueror”, and a new drop coming Jan. ‘21), Uniqueness, Charisma, Charm and, oh yeah, Cuteness factor, position them as becoming the hard rock Beatles of our time! In other words, they’re destine for mega-stardom. Each member's personalities are super interesting and their musicianship among the best. Their writing, arrangements and overall sound, especially guitar tones and drums, are kick-ass! Having seen them LIVE, I can honestly say their performance, sound, stage appearance, and band synergy is off the rails spectacular. Band-Maid is the only band in decades where I love nearly EVERY song they’ve done. I have over 50 favorites! "Thrill" (2014) is a great place to start: ua-cam.com/video/Uds7g3M-4lQ/v-deo.html Their later songs drive even more - Different, Rinne, Blooming, Moratorium, Domination, Clang, Dice, Spirit, Turn Me On, Fate, Play, Hide-And-Seek, Secret My Lips, Puzzle, Glory, Choose Me, I Can’t Live Without You, and on and on. But don’t miss out on their powerful, beautifully written, mid-tempo songs like Daydreaming, Anemone, Endless Story, PAGE, Mirage and Smile... or more punky like Don’t Let Me Down and Screaming… or funky like Bubble… or bluesy like The Dragon Cries… or poppy like Start Over… or a bit jazzy like Wonderland… or cultural like the Band-Maiko series… or instrumentals like Don’t Be Long, Onset, Without Holding Back and Going Nuts! And many are represented with over 30 well produced music videos. ua-cam.com/users/BANDMAID Most performances should be experienced from their LIVE concerts such as Tokyo's LINE CUBE SHIBUYA on February 14th (“Domination” ua-cam.com/video/QbyQCJn6rYg/v-deo.html), ZEPP 2018, Shinkiba Studio Coast 2017 and some of the better 2019 tour Fan vids. Here’s three of what it’s like to see Band-Maid LIVE at super intimate venues. The first taken by Vladimir Chupin in Hamburg: ua-cam.com/video/__1th7ctgMo/v-deo.html, the second taken by JT Dayo in LA: ua-cam.com/video/4uIYBkAybCI/v-deo.html, and third, JOSER8845 in LA: ua-cam.com/video/usWZvlGGDSs/v-deo.html. If you like Band-Maid, make sure to support them by purchasing some concert tickets, CD, DVD/BD & Merch, etc. bandmaid.tokyo Like most Band-Maid songs, I like them from the get-go but really start to appreciate them after more hearings and seeing their LIVE videos. I'll go back and see an older song like YOLO, Order, Shake That, Freezer, Before Yesterday, Real Existence, Non Fiction Days and Alone, etc. and realize there's no band that can consistently construct and play like Band-Maid. For fun, check out an awesome, little known "Mega Band-Maid Mix" by DJ Ray of some of their earlier stuff: facebook.com/djrayboston/videos/1004709499579009 Band-Maid members are: (Ages are best est.). Saiki Atsumi (Sy-i-Key or Psyche) “Ice Queen" - Lead vocals, arrangements, melodies and High Priestess mediator between the Gods (Band Members) and the masters and princesses (Fans). At 26 and the youngest, “Sensei” (Leader) as Miku calls her, has the last word on many musical decisions. High-heels or sneakers, Sai-chan’s smile melts away the persona. Her charisma, performance and voice focus the experience. Miku Kobato (Me-Ku) "Small Pigeon" - Rhythm guitar, vocals, lyricist, 29 years old. “Koba”, as Saiki calls her, is the Band founder and a firecracker MC & PR SpokesPigeon, po! Her “Magic Spell Time” charm and energy ignite the room. Kurrupo! No, no, no… KURRUPO!! Kanami Tono (Ka-Naw-Me) “Princess” - Lead guitar, keyboards, 29 years old, is a prolific writer of most Band-Maid material. Kanami (translates “Song Wave”) is a possessed riff-slayer who’s so damn adorable it hurts. The only thing you want from Mincho is more! Akane Hirose (A-Ka-Nay) "Gorilla" - Drums, 30 years old, band energizer & co-clown with MISA. Achi’s talents include massive consumption of noodles and bananas, of course, (even during performance!) while revolutionizing rock drumming with relentless drive, dynamics and the kick. This “DrumRilla” is the Party! MISA (Me-Sa) "Assassin" - Bass, 28 years old. A sullen, barefoot, dark spirit driving her 5-string bottom-end to hell and back, off-stage MISA is the band’s goofball ballerina. The Mysterious One literally kills it… every note.. uniting Band-Maid’s world-class rhythm section. A slug of JB, a slight grin, and let the slappin’ begin… MISA! MISA! MISA! Nothing compares to seeing them live. I took my gf to see them in Dallas. She'd heard me listen to them but just went for fun. I look over and she's crying. The show was so badass and the music so powerful it brought her to tears multiple times. These girls are masterful song writers and performers. They have some of the catchiest choruses in the biz. 20 years of shows and she said it was the best she'd ever seen. I agreed.
Jen, I absolutely LOVE YOUR VIDEOS! You’re Beautiful, Intelligent, Funny and did I mention Beautiful!? I’ve been listening to BANDMAID for a year now and have been TOTALLY BLOWN AWAY! I don’t know of a rock band EVER with as much talent as these Five, Petite, Young Japanese Ladies! THEIR TALENT IS OFF THE CHARTS! I’m Happy you finally found them and know that you are in for a Life Altering Experience as you continue to listen to BANDMAID’S ARSENAL OF SONGS! Jen, Please Be Well and Be Safe!
This was the first song I heard from them too and loved it. But every song is good in its own way. They change it up every time you hear them. Just like Nightwish you can never be sure exactly what you're gonna get. And the best thing, they're 'feel good'; every time I feel a bit low and down these amazingly talented women pull me out of my funk and put a smile on my face. Especially live, when you see the genuine joy they have when playing - all smiles all the time. That's so much better than some bands who can barely stand each other.
New Sub! Welcome to the Band-Maid Army. This is my favorite rock and roll band and Rush, Van Halen, Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd, Motley Crue are just some of the bands I love next to them. Check out Freedom to see a good drum solo and check out Moratorium to really get your sox blown off.
Welcome to the Band-Maid experience Jen. You are now a 'princess' as the girls call their female fans (Masters & Princesses) New subscriber, cheers from Australia.
Hi Jen , Glad your starting a Band Maid journey , this was there 1st video from 2014 , dont let the maid uniforms n cuteness fool you they will Rock your face off , MISA !!! MISA !!! MISA !!! the Barefoot Bass Assassin , the rest of the Band is , Miku Kobato AKA pigeon , band founder rhythm guitar 2nd vocals n lyrics , Kanami Tono lead guitar n shredder n music arranger , Akaine Hirose AKA gorilla , Drums , Saiki Atsumi AKA ice queen , lead vocals . anything from Band Maid is good , fan base know as Maidiac`s , enjoy the ride
@@JustJenRx you won’t regret it , I have been lucky enough to have seen all the great bands in my time and these girls are special and in my opinion are the best live rock band in the world right now 👍😎
Jen, in case you're wondering, the guitarist/back-up vocalist was the lead vocalist originally, but was determined not to be strong enough, so they brought in the actual lead vocalist. But as you can tell, she can still carry a tune.
Great reaction welcome to the show band maid are living legend's they truly are as you will see how they have progressed I'm 59 yrs old and I have seen plenty but these girls are the very best in a long time there is no language barrier the music and the way saiki sings speaks to us all I've been there from their beginning so good only one band that I know or has had this kind of following that was back in 62 enjoy the ride they are here to stay
I'm glad to join you as a Band Maid fan for life. This is the song that hooked me as well. So good it brings me to tears if I immerse myself in the song. Then the cuteness! So cute and so bad-a.. and just as good if not better live. Great reaction. You've got that cute and bad-a.. thing goin' on Too, and I love your voice. A lot of BM vids have CC's with the lyrics in eng.. I think their lyrics are excellent, but You're right it doesn't matter that much if I never got a word of it. They are so talented.
Please reaction about LOVEBITES they are Japanese power metal band and they are all girl. I can't wait to see your reaction about that band. Stay healthy and say hai from Indonesia 🇮🇩😎🤘🏾
Someone told her about Band Maiko? You'll see in your journey that at the some point they made an April's fools changing the name of the band and their own names. Released a song and after a mini album singing in kioto ( Gueisha's language) with Gueisha's clothes and putting traditional Japanese instruments! Amazing!!! ( They declared enemies from Band Maid) you will find it on band maid channel
I love your reaction! Please, please enjoy your journey in the BANDMAID world slowly, deeply and thoroughly. Oh, don’t forget to check their live performances💖
You will have a lot of Fun , great you found Band Maid! They are an awesome Band, look at there Live Videos it´s great. Welcome to the World of Band Maid and enjoy!! And another Tip is LOVEBITES, take a look i think you like this Band too.
Akane does not like drum solos, it's true. Recently the fans were requesting more and more of those, and finally she agreed to have a couple during their live shows. There is an extended one in FREEDOM live, and s shorter one in DOMINATION live, both available at their official channel. But they hate to be repetitive, so, no more drum solos during any of the ONLINE OKYU-JI (concerts) since then.
This is their "breakout" MV. It was posted on Facebook and in 2 weeks they had 2 million views. At first they thought they had been hacked. No, not only were the views real something like 40-45% of the views were from the US and Europe. Highly for Japanese bands. A bit later they played an Asian festival in Seattle, follow a tour in Europe. They popularity and fame continues to grow. In 2019 they played in NYC(2), Dallas(1), and LA(2) all were sellouts! They maid outfits are to create "The Gap" very popular in Japan. The gap is the difference in what you are seeing "demure maids" vs what you are hearing Hard Rock. This song was not written by them, but everything in the future will be. They write, arrange and produce their music. Knanmi (lead guitar) is the primary composer and Miku (Band Founder, rhythm guitar) is the primary lyricist. All members of the band contribute in the creation of the songs. MISA(bass), Akane(drum) and Saiki(vocals) worked as session/backing musicians and Saiki was a backing dancer prior to joining the band. They are very talented and professional musicians. The main reason they are the best Rock Band in the world right now!!! Just think you still have Babymetal (most popular & famous Japanese band in the world), Lovebites-power metal at its highest level, and the Wagakiki Band- you will need to strap in for them! Welcome aboard!!
They recorded this in 2015 and they've been "Breakin' New Gate" ever since. Saying that they get better isn't condescending, it's a commentary on the fact that every song they've written has broken new ground for them. They have produced 7 albums and EPs since this video and all of them are incredibly good. You will never get bored of listening to Band-Maid, all their songs are well written, immaculately arranged, and performed brilliantly. Did anyone comment on HOW HARD THESE WOMEN WORK? They keep cranking tunes out at a formidable pace and the tunes aren't just good, they're astonishingly good. They also, practice, practice, practice, never satisfied to be complacent with their musicianship and pushing each other to increase their proficiency. As if they needed to! And BTW: The Japanese lyrics? It's worth looking up the translations as the lyrics are actually very beautifully written.
BandMaid is one of those rare jewels on the planet - I mean all 5 girls are sooooooo glad to be on stage they look close to be orgasmic while they play live - and they are happy to be in it together )
They are Incredible live. Play, Domination or Freedom live are awesome. Onset is an instrumental that kicks ass. They have a knack for catchy choruses that are stuck in your head for days.
Everyone always beats me to the great suggestions! XD Anyway I'll corroborate with some of my faves - "Bubble" for the underrated sleeper hit MV that might seem chill but actually has so much going on and builds to amazing moments in the second half that just keep delivering. "Domination" (LIVE!) for some essential/core example of everyone giving it their all and proving their talent on stage; they're not just a 'studio band'. "Gion-cho" for the mind-bending and genre-defying alter-ego performance!
Just Jen--I had practically the same reaction--wow, these ladies are incredibly cute then they hit you like sledgehammer with that killler rockin'' groove, woah---that is some serious metal ladies and gents! It was weird for awhile because I couldn't quite put their look together with the music but it didn't take long to just realize they are phenomenal musicians...very impressed! They are most definately the real deal--love it!
That's the beauty of Band-Maid. It doesn't matter if you understand the language...the music transcends it. You can't go wrong with pretty much any Band-Maid songs. Some favorites of mine, Daydreaming(mv), Real Existence(mv or the live from their 2017 Zepp Tokyo concert), Dice (mv), Moratorium(live), Blooming(mv), and Domination(live). Enjoy the ride :)
You have to do their live performances, Freedom, Onset (instrumental), Play, Choose me and a host of others. You also have to look at their alter-ego band Band-Maiko, which has a lot of geisha-related tones, Gion-Cho and Secret of Maiko Lips. A real treat.
A few years ago, I fatefully clicked on “Thrill” and I’ve been hooked ever since. While they have increased the complexity of their sound, “Thrill” is a fantastic, direct, well balanced hard rocking song that put Band Maid on the map. Keep reviewing their songs, as there are zero bad ones. Band Maid is the best band going in the world, and their live versions are better than the originals. I’m glad you discovered them. Good review, btw.
Despite not writing this song themselves, it is indicative of their m.o.: Take the next 3 1/2 minutes make the the absolute most of it! Dive right in, no fooling about, rock as hard as you can, and get out. No overindulgence, but don't phone it in either. This is why they're the best rock band on the planet. regardless of gender!
BAND-MAID is also good. there are a lot of female's HR/HM bands of very good in Japan🤘😁 ↑I'm sorry, I'm Japanese and I don't understand English, so it's almost a translation
Welcome to the world of Band-Maid. This is their very first MV. It's dated now. It has a nice riff and catchy chorus. However, believe it or not, if you think this is good, then you will get further blown away by their later work. They are a phenomenal band. These ladies are very talented. The compositions of their songs is just simply amazing. Their Led guitarist, who composes their songs, besides the first couple of albums, is a genius. Definitely check out more of their videos especially the live ones like "Domination", "Play", "Freedom", or "onset" just to name a few. For MV, check out "RINNE", it is one of the more heavier song of theirs. Great review and glad to hear you intend on checking out more of these amazing ladies. Looking forward to those reactions.
I'll never forget the first time I heard and saw this. I was floored. This ain't no "baby metal". This is no shit rocking. What a great ride this has been. They just keep getting better and better. And I love your reaction.
I've been a Maidiac for about six months now and I too started with "Thrill". I then was blown away by their live videos, particularly "Domination". Now. I have a couple CD's and the DVD from the 2020 Shibuya show. After some time I've come to appreciate their studio music videos, of which I recommend "YOLO", "Alone", "Blooming", and "Dice". Watch those to get an idea of how brilliant they REALLY are. And...the drummer, Akane, was the first of the maids to turn 30 just this week. It's almost 2021 and it still amazes me that, at first, reactors are most impressed by them being female, even the female reactors! I'm guilty too. It's been eye opening for me.
I suggested this to you a long time ago im glad you finally checked it out i thought you might like them and this is the first one wait till you see how much they have grown
Welcome to the rabbit hole called "Band Maid". Once you go in there is no way out. There is a lot of music to enjoy. Their live performances are top notch. And once you go through all that and get to their latest release "Different" you will want more. And now we wait intently on the next release. Have fun!!
welcome to you in the world of band maid, the road will be long but you are still far from knowing them, once you have heard them you can no longer be detached, I became a fan, they have more than 40 titles , they are even better live, I advise you freedom and domination for your next reaction, I will follow you to see your reaction to them
Great reaction! So suck it, Thrill haters.
especially when the reactor clearly likes the song lol
Exactly my thoughts. I even get a little annoyed sometimes when people are calling it what you mentioned. I absolutely like this song and this is so far away from "weak" as the earth from the moon.
Thank you! 👏👏👏👏👏
It IS an amazing track!
Don't worry about the drummer. She's one of the best in the world as you'll learn exploring them more. Welcome to band maid. Enjoy the ride
Los Angeles Loves BAND-MAID Enjoying the ride
Akane is kick ass, on that tiny little "Hello Kitty" kit hahaha, she hits hard and just punishes.
This is just the beginning, their first and oldest music video.
As much as this one blows your socks off, they've had a whole lot of growth and improvement since. It only gets better.
And that’s why we need another season of That’s So Metal Show. We could get Band-Maid and Babymetal on there.
The leader and the co-header are beautiful.
❤️
What are the odds that Miku decides to start a rock band who wear maid outfits and finds an incredibly talented guitarist songwriter riff machine named Kanami from an online video. Kanami just happens to know one of the most amazing drummers on the planet (Akane) who just happens to know an incredibly talented bass player named MISA (they went to music school together). They then just happen to find the the incredible voice of Saiki. It's like this band was meant to be and was put together by the music gods!!!!
@@tommcfall1274 Now you spoiled it... That´s boring...
Los Angeles Loves BAND-MAID Witnessed them LIVE at The Lodge Room in 2018 and the Echoplex in 2019 Looking forward to 2021 Greetings from America!
@@tommcfall1274 why fucking not.
Thrill is the song that drew me into the rabbit hole. All of their official live videos and their music videos are awesome. This is a very old video of their. They have gotten so much better over time.
And I can’t wait to see more!!! ❤️
Thrill was the song that hooked me! They are the best band on the planet, hands down! Enjoy the journey into the pigeon hole
Miku's lyrics are deep as hell, Kanami's writing is reaching Toumas Holopainen levels, Saiki owns the stage and MISA and Akane's musicianship has reached levels other band only wish for,
I generally advise people to avoid Thrill because it's so raw but too late I guess lol, glad you enjoyed it, the good news is it only gets better from here on.
Good way to start with thier first video. Now jump to 'Different' their most recent and see how they've progressed in just six years.

Oh watch out for it! Freedom is coming!!!
This is a nice set list, get the most recent live videos from their YT channel BandMaid, from Feb 2020 iirc.
Blooming good set list :-)
Let me add Different, Moratorium and Real existence to the list ...jut to name a few ;)
I need to beam! Thank you!!!
@@JustJenRx i would give Freedom a belt, would be a good reaction too
This is their first music video lol. They have evolved so much today, but still a great old song lol.
Oooo I subbed to their channel too and hit that all Bell! So I can’t wait to just be obsessed with them! I can feel it in my bones!!!
did you see their concert Sunday? It was awesome!
You need to check out "Freedom" live for your drum solo 😄
I second this suggestion. FREEDOM live: ua-cam.com/video/FHpuEqMAcDg/v-deo.html
This one is more poppy and joyous. A special song for them to goof around during the show.
I will third this suggestion, check out Freedom Live. The drum solo is outstanding and the lead singer gives it everything

This was Band Maid in their infancy, today they are the best band in the world bar none! I would suggest "Choose Me" live from the 2/14/20 show. This is a good representation, has English captions that translate pretty well, and a sick guitar solo! 🎶🎸🥁🎸🎶🔥🙂
Sure will! Thank you 😊
The original official MV of Choose Me was the first I saw and heard them four years ago, and I was hooked.
Ruined me forever
If you watch the music video for the latest new song "Different"
You will be shocked.
Wellcome to the best live-Rock-Band atm on this Planet.
Oh I heard that!!! I’ll be checking more out like today!!! 😉
I will check them out for ya! I know you’ve asked me before! I appreciate your support David! You’re amazing!!! ❤️
@@JustJenRx I 2nd David's suggestion. They're awesome too!
These ladies are incredible musicians, love them. My weakness is Asian women so I was double hit by this...lol.
Lolololol
I hear that brother... I married one LOL
@@DMiyash248 If Kanami looked hot in civies, then Saiki must have picked out her clothes. 😏
FREEDOM: ua-cam.com/video/FHpuEqMAcDg/v-deo.html , PLAY: ua-cam.com/video/3LxX_t4vg7U/v-deo.html , CHOOSE ME: ua-cam.com/video/HcqitbXgigU/v-deo.html , DOMINATION: ua-cam.com/video/QbyQCJn6rYg/v-deo.html and WONDERLAND: ua-cam.com/video/x4hxLeHbqZo/v-deo.html
Thank you for all of that! You rock!!
@@JustJenRx you're gonna freak when you see them play live!
Wow! What a story! Thank you for sharing!
Us BM fans tend to dismiss Thrill at times but it really is a solid rock song with a great groove.
Love Band Maid They are so amazing to watch live!!
Down the rabbit hole you go Miss Jen...... it's a long and wonderful journey...Enjoy!
yuhuu! more BandMaid on Jen`s channel? )) Yes!!!!! Please )
More is coming! Don’t you worry about that!!! ❤️ 😘
Your cardinal rule of not stopping during guitar solo's (and bass, drums...) will be sorely tested by these absolutely amazing ladies. Welcome to the world of Band Maid.
Just be prepared to go down that rabbit hole and never coming out 😎!!
And many are represented with over 30 well produced music videos. ua-cam.com/users/BANDMAID
Most performances should be experienced from their LIVE concerts such as Tokyo's LINE CUBE SHIBUYA on February 14th (“Domination” ua-cam.com/video/QbyQCJn6rYg/v-deo.html), ZEPP 2018, Shinkiba Studio Coast 2017 and some of the better 2019 tour Fan vids. Like most Band-Maid songs, I like them from the get-go but really start to appreciate them after more hearings and seeing their LIVE videos. I'll go back and see an older song like YOLO, Order, Shake That, Freezer, Before Yesterday, Real Existence, Non Fiction Days and Alone, etc. and realize there's no band that can consistently construct and play like Band-Maid. Band-Maid members are: (Ages are best est.).

I understand them.

Band maid is great great band live.....react FREEDOM.....DOMINATION ....PLAY...live 2020....incredible
FrRRRREEEEEEDOMMMMMM
Please reaction about LOVEBITES they are Japanese power metal band and they are all girl. I can't wait to see your reaction about that band. Stay healthy and say hai from Indonesia 🇮🇩😎🤘🏾
They’re on my list! Thank you!!!
Please don't have her react to 'Secret Maiko Lips' before reacting to 'Secret My Lips'. It's much better in that order.
Don’t worry about drum solos... ;)
Yep! That definitely will not be a problem LOL
And 250,000 of those views were me and my crew.
I've watched this video a hundred times and still get goosebumps every time.
Welcome down the rabbit hole. You picked a great place to start, the beginning. Now you'll see how high these ladies can fly.
Let the BM journey begin! It began for me February this year. They are truly amazing!
Much much more than a group of girls practicing choreographed cartoon dance moves. Supremely talented...see them live if you don't think so.
It’s on my things to do in 2021 list!!! I just hope they come close to Cleveland again
BandMaid is one of those rare jewels on the planet - I mean all 5 girls are sooooooo glad to be on stage they look close to be orgasmic while they play live - and they are happy to be in it together )
❤️
Cant wait to see your reaction on their Live performance. I recommend "Freedom, Live" for the next song.
Check out any of their official live videos. These girls are awesome live!
They are Incredible live. Play, Domination or Freedom live are awesome. Onset is an instrumental that kicks ass. They have a knack for catchy choruses that are stuck in your head for days.
Everyone always beats me to the great suggestions! XD
Anyway I'll corroborate with some of my faves - "Bubble" for the underrated sleeper hit MV that might seem chill but actually has so much going on and builds to amazing moments in the second half that just keep delivering.
Instrumental live “ onset” a must listen. Freedom is a good one and for a slow song “ daydreaming” is a good one.
I am now too. I can’t believe I didn’t check them out sooner!!! Im a late bloomer, but I got bit by the band-maid bug!!!
Well well well, what do we have here, some more love for our maids, beware for some awesomeness,
😊
Despite not writing this song themselves, it is indicative of their m.o.: Take the next 3 1/2 minutes make the the absolute most of it! Dive right in, no fooling about, rock as hard as you can, and get out. No overindulgence, but don't phone it in either.
This is why they're the best rock band on the planet. regardless of gender!
BAND-MAID is also good. there are a lot of female's HR/HM bands of very good in Japan🤘😁 ↑I'm sorry, I'm Japanese and I don't understand English, so it's almost a translation
❤️
AND not only are they Bad Ass talented, they've got the moves, they got style and power.
Have fun!!
Greetings from Los Angeles. BAND-MAID rocks and I will be there
welcome to you in the world of band maid, the road will be long but you are still far from knowing them, once you have heard them you can no longer be detached, I became a fan, they have more than 40 titles , they are even better live, I advise you freedom and domination for your next reaction, I will follow you to see your reaction to them
Yep! Freedom and domination is next!!!
Ah, The good old day's. Jen's first time reaction to the best band ever!
