    Aaaaaaaa! Thank you thank you thank you! I have tried to explain this stuff to people, but I am not a fitness professional, and I don't do half as good of a job as you do. I can speak from personal experience as well and agree THIS IS TRUTH! I have seen many friends and family members on this dieting cycle and they're miserable, and it kills me. 😣
    I love your no-nonsense, non-gimicky, not trying to sell a product, advice. I don't know if you realize how VERY rare that is, but it's just a breathe of fresh air. Sharing this video on my Facebook page, because this can be life-changing for many, and it's typically not explained thoroughly or well. Yours is perfect.
    Also, because of your sugar addiction video I watched recently, I am cutting out all sugar for 30 days so I can stop the cravings. I'm on day 5 and I feel great and making way better food choices in general. (I don't have a bunch of weight to lose, etc, but just found myself off track in my thinking about food and wanting sweet stuff a lot, and your advice is 👌).
    Again, THANK YOU!

    Love this! I have seen the best results with tracking macros, piling on the green veggies, switching cookies and cakes for apples and peanut butter and of course a good balance of weight training and cardio. I also would like to add that extended periods of super low calories can really mess with your thyroid, especially for women. It is not healthy for women to walk around feeling like they are starving (which is different than just being a little hungry). Our bodies go into survival mode more easily than men.

    Thanks for this. Even though I am a no diet person, this is a good reminder. After years of having babies and young children with a husband who worked all the time, in the spring due to a job change, I will finally have time to focus on losing weight. Could you do a video on building muscle? If it doesn't involve a gym or expensive equipment that would be even better as our job change came with a pay cut. Thanks for your encouraging content.

    I appreciate your input and perspective, I just wish that you would have provided some guidance as to what is healthy (ex. Calories for weight loss) and not just point out what we shouldn’t do. I hope that you would consider making a video on what would be a healthy approach to calorie reduction in terms of weight loss. I love your fitness content and I’m very inspired by it. I'm actually a weight watcher newbie as of this past week. I needed to do something to break out of my old terrible eating habits. Recording what I eat and seeing how many points bad food choices are put things into perspective. I had to do something because I'm short and pretty sedentary, weight was going up, hello muffin top :( WW is teaching me some self-control. I plan for it to be a short term help (like 3 months). I'm hoping by that point I will have what I'm going to eat from here on out lined up. I sort of agree with your friend about being hungry, but I think I'm doing it wrong and not filling up on 0 point foods like you're supposed to. I have branched out and eaten a few veggies I've never tried in my life, so that's a success. :) I heard what you said about the exercise part. If I could just get myself to go there!

    The rapid weight gain happened to me after trying Phentermine (years ago) I lost 60 lbs in 3 months but they would only allow you to take it for 3 months. Well after they cut me off cold turkey from the crazy stimulant I went from consuming around 500-1000 cals per day back to my old ways/overeating because I felt like I was starving and I gained A TON! I was doing aerobics twice a day when taking the meds too, but my energy levels tanked as well and couldn't get anything done. I gained 100 lbs in 4 months? (i think) after taking that stupid pill. But I learned a good lesson ..If you try to take short cuts it will always cost you more effort in the end. I do not "diet" at all anymore ..just eat healthier, and I move around and exercise as much as possible I've lost 115 now after 2 years and I may only lose a pound or 2 every couple of months but at least I'm not gaining ! :D Thanks so much for the chat Ashlee ..It was very informative

    What do you think about diets like low-carb and the popular Keto for weight loss? I am overweight and need to lose weight. All these diets are very tempting because of people's quick weight loss. I know my problem I am an emotional eater. When I get sad or depressed about something in my life I eat more or eat too sweets to fill my hurts. I used to be very fit I ran used to do outdoor cycling and weight training. I meet my husband at the gym, I used to be very active, but too many trials have come my way and I grew very tired of being a mom to five kids. I stopped being active and exercising as I used to when I got a knee injury and couldn't run anymore. That is just one trial among many. I need to lose weight though doctors orders for health reasons now not for looks or fitting into any skinny jeans, but don't know where to begin. Thanks for your advice. I think I just have to reverse many years of bad habits now.

    Hey Ashlee,
    I’ve been faithfully going to the gym for over two years now consistently. This past year I’ve tried to educate myself on gaining muscle because I’m at a pretty comfortable weight for the most part. I feel like my biggest problem is getting enough protein. I drink protein shakes post workout, eat lean meats, etc. I’m not sure if I’m getting enough. Today my carbs were 55%, my fat was at 27% and my protein was at 22%. Is that good? I do try and cook more lean meats, fruits and veggies. Help! I’d love a video on lifting and gaining muscle for women.

    • @GraceandGrit
      @GraceandGrit  5 років тому

And just as you mentioned in your video, I’m concerned about messing up my metabolism by doing this. Secondly, can you give us a “what to eat” type video? Keto prohibits a lot fruit ( mostly my favorites) and because my brain is so engrained with the Keto rules... I kind of feel like it’s “bad” for you to eat ( in moderation) all fruits. Can you shed some ( healthy) light on healthy foods?

    Thanks for the info. I had my base metabolic rate tested and it showed me that I burn around 1400 calories as a base just by living. The trainer at the gym told me I needed to be eating 1200 calories to lose weight. I got a personal trainer for a short time last year that had me on a 1400 calorie diet and said we would go down to 1200 when i stalled with my weight loss.. I'm so confused on how much I can eat to lose weight while not wrecking my metabolism. I'm not trying to lose weight really quickly or anything, I'm after a sustainable lifestyle but I just do not know where to start. I have been lifting weights 4 to 6 days a week. I hate cardio so I skip that alot. My diet still sucks though I know I eat way to many calories a day and not healthy enough. I really need help but do not know where to start.

      Try looking into Trim Healthy Mama. They line up with how Ashley is telling us to eat. They cut out sugar, refine White carbs. And they teach you how to separate your carbs and fat to nourish body and burn stored fat, while sustaining and building muscles. So will say that's just another diet, but that because they haven't read the plan. Trust me its not a diet its food freedom and its no more expensive than what your already doing except the getting to eat more food part. They do have special ingredients to supplement and make things more convenient, but they themselves tell you DON'T HAVE TO HAVE THEM, in fact they didn't for them for years while doing the plan. They also have a post cast its divine and so encouraging. It's saturated with the Bible and science behind the plan. Plus they are quite funny and entertaining. I hope this helps!

      Shelley this is 100% what I believe the goal of this video is to help dispell!
      Start with getting rid of the smoothie! You should avaoid drinking your calories. Water water water! Drink 20oz upon waking and then again whenever you feel hungry- then wait 20 minutes to see if you are still hungry. When you are hungry pick a fiber filled food first! Vegetables are the best option here. The more vegetables-mix it up weekly- the more fiber your body receives. Your body needs fiber and water to not only keep your metabolism moving but also flush out the gunk trapped in your intestines. We carry a large percentage of weight in the nooks and crannies of our intestines!
      Lean meats, healthy fats, fruits and good carbs. You can eat as much as you like when you truly focus on quality intake. Want cake- have a piece but first be sure you are hungry and not just thirsty. Thirst masks as hunger!!!
      Lastly, force yourself many small meals throughout the day. Keeping your metabolism fresh and forced to work on processing good foods will help restart your metabolism!
