  • The Ford Super Duty 7.3 Godzilla motor puts up some decent fuel economy numbers for such a capable truck. At least, on the highway.

Charlie, With or without the Tach Shot®, thanks for the 'tireless hours' you spend on mpg testing for these big rigs. 🥳🥳

That is a really good looking 3/4 ton truck! Love that you're doing a fuel economy on these since we don't get EPA ratings.

Why do you call it a 3/4 ton. Maybe early 2000’s an 2010 but these trucks pay loads are over 3,000lbs

16MPG seems quite good, even if a diesel got 20 it’s probably almost a wash when you consider the price difference between diesel and 87 octane and the cost of DEF. That’s before you get into the increased maintenance costs of a diesel if you’re keeping a truck long term.

These test are always cute. But a few miles isn’t enough so I run from NY. to TN many times at 750 miles door to door I get better than 17 MPG with 1 fuel stop and at least 3 more rest and food stops. 2023 Lariat basically same truck

It would be good if you monitored and reported on the local density altitude during your mileage tests.

The headlights are horrible. They're dim and don't put out a lot of light, and they glare oncoming driver's because the LED lights are rated at a color temperature of 7000K. I'm hoping that sometimes manufacturers can at least tone down into 4300K to reduce glare and increase visibility. They need to add adaptive headlight technology as well.

My 1988 lincoln town car just recently got a 14.3 mpg average soooooo that thing is beating it rn granted it has a egr leak causing fuel air ratio to be messed up.

So if I got a Superduty with 2wd instead, I maybe could get 18mpg?

I think it's possible, but that'd be a pretty big jump.

My 2008 Tacoma used to get 18mpg combined so this isn’t bad at all.
