How we SAVED our DYING ALOE VERA!
Вставка
- Опубліковано 8 чер 2024
- Our Aloe Vera was headed towards certain death from a long period of being waterlogged but we've managed to save it. The immediate reaction that most people would have in this situation would be to transplant, add new soil, fertilize and cut off the leaves right away..... All of these things could add unnecessary stress to an already stressed-out plant! Instead of trying to rush the healing, this is what we did.
Help us with our mission to feed the world by teaching millions how they can grow their own food! Thank you for your continued love and support!

Yes! My aloe looks exactly like this, has the same brown spots on the leaves. I'm glad I finally found some telling me how to save it.
I wish you the best of luck!
Oh my goodness! Thanks to you, my aloe is as healthy and happy as ever! Thanks so much! :)
Well, my aloe vera survived this winter temperatures range from 0 to -7 with snow for 3 consecutive days. It was outside the hole year , under a patio but the snow with the wind reached the plant. After this hard freeze the plant just loose 3 ĺeafs as they were froze and melted from these temperatures. Then after two weeks and second freeze wave came but I have just put a cloth on my aloe vera . Now it is still thriving and is huge than ever before! So my suggestion is to cover any aloe plant with a cloth or place it under a bulding or in a patio. Just don't let them sit outside exposed to snow and ice because they will melt like an ice cream! I loose 4 aloes whith that way this year! In addition everyone in a cold climate should try the aloe aristata .... Cold hardy to -12!!! Cheers from Greece
I feel your pain, I had a 10 year old Madagascar Palm tree, that fell off the table, and it pretty much killed it 😢. It just went down hill from there.
Thank you so much. I brought home a very sick plant from work so this is priceless. I'm certainly going to apply your recommendations 😃👍🏽♥️
I needed this video. My sister gave me two huge aloe Vera plants and I noticed that they were rotting so I put them outside in the sun. Now they are brown and dried up.
Happy to find this. My mom gave me a plant she couldn't ID & wasn't fond of.. it was struggling and she'd tried what she could think of to do.. offered it to me (I'm not a good gardener... she is awesome! But I said I'd take it n try. I think her home/yard is mostly shaded)
I started in shade.. it remained sad.. tried getting help IDing it.. fb friends gave me about 6-10 possibilities but none of their plants REALLY matched mine.. I did learn it's a variety of Aloe.. i moved it to one of my sunniest areas.. watered it less often (aside from rain... has good drainage!) .. it has begun showing new leaves! I guessed about the dead leaves - though I instead cut them short with scissors.. ill now try to more fully remove them! Now I think of it.. the new leaves may have really begun to show after i cut the sad ones 🤷🏼♀️ i forget for sure.. seems i now remember i may have wanted to try getting them off to take less of the water and nutrients to see if it would help it in some way..
Anyways so glad I found this video! It does help me feel i did right.. with the leaves at especially! 😃
Looks like it’s coming back well.
I was looking for guidance and knowledge for my aloe vera. Thank you very much. Can't help but see plant abuse. I committed the crime also. Moved to Vegas and left "Marvin" in the back of the truck, uncovered in 113° heat and sun.
x needed this
I’m glad!
Mine currently looks just like this, just about to bloom as well. After removing dead leaves, how long do you wait to repot? And do you cover the now exposed stem? Thanks!
My aloe Vera is rotting, with black spots everywhere and it’s drooping. What should I do?? HELP
Help! The recent frost in Texas has hurt my 2 aloe plants and one of my succulents. What can I do for them to help them?? 😥😥 my poor plants! I brought then into the house but im not seeing any improvement.... HELP!
The same happened to mine and how the tips of the leaves are drooping and look so sad 😓
That’s what I wanted to know. Mine froze. I’m going to wait a week.
Trim off any dead parts of the plant and bring them inside if it is still much too cold. You don’t want them to go through another temperature shock so maybe move them in stages from coldest locations of your home first and then gradually moving into warmer locations. Don’t repot or fertilize anything either. The best think you can do is change as little as possible while keeping away from damaging cold.
I’m so sorry for everyone’s losses! ☹️
Same here in Fort Worth Marcella. Good luck to you and your Aloes. 🙏🏽✌️
Mine looked like what you ripped off so I have healthy looking but no roots they just fell off, so what do I do with what is left??
What should be the yearly fertilizer?
Why did you leave that one dead piece?
What do you fertilize the Aloe with?
My cactus are in ground I did cover wasn't able to uncover for almost a month dues to harsh freezing conditions now the look soggy do I need to cut the soggy parts of there not aloe vera but in the family so any advice be grateful
Thanks 😊
Expedition Homestead. I have an overgrown aloe vera. Which is growing out of its pot spreading sideways from the pot. There is some black areas of the leaves. But I have new growth. Do do I need to do anything ?
I sat mine outside last summer in FULL SUN, HOT SUN, and the leaves appeared to get sunburned. I was so upset bc it was absolutely gorgeous then it looked pitiful and sickly. Its still trying to recover. Not sure about your recommendation.
Mine too, full sun almost killed mine. It got really white and started dying.
@@jessicapeake2518 u have to slowly expose it to full sun. A little bit each day b4 leaving it for longer periods
Awesome. Thnx for the video.
Thank you for the video! I am also curious about that Jade plant at the back...
I just did a video on it a couple weeks ago :)
@@ExpeditionHomestead Thanks for answering! Will check now. I love Jade plants and growing a few.
When do you water it and how much?
Watching this while my Aloe is already out the pot 😅 ugh
😂
Me too! 😂😂😂
Jahan se aelovera ki leaf cut krte hn use dubara wahin se kese grow kren ??
Hye, My Dracanea Marginata is over water because my place raining everyday. How can I save it? Because i already cut the top trunk with the leaf. Now the trunk slowly died, and smelly😭
Okay, you let the stalk harden off where you removed the leaves. When you go to re pot do you bring the soil level up to the functioning leaves?
Yes m, you would bring soil up higher 🤟
Thank you!
Great Question.
Hi! New aloe parent here 🙂! Just curious.... How come the hole on bottom of pot was closed up?
It has the plug for when growing indoors which usually it is
Hello! Could o please get some help? My aloe Vera has been doing SO GOOD since summer. So much growth and healthy leaves but suddenly this week my big aloe Vera and baby aloe Vera started to have droopy leaves. Leaves that are mushy. I haven’t watered them in weeks and it’s so weird they did it at the same time! HELP!
I put my aloe outside for 24 hours and it went from beautiful to brown and dead! Reading and it says to never place in direct sunlight because it will burn them. Curious how this lines up with what you’re saying to place in as much sunlight as possible. I destroyed mine this way. 🥺
Of your aloe Vera turns brown it means that it's adjusting to your environment and if it's green then the adjustment has completed they take weeks or months to complete the adjustment or your aloe Vera is sun stressed or burnt
Hey! Aloes can take full sunlight, but if they are used to being grown indoors and you put them in full sun without an adjustment period they will get sunburnt and turn red/brown. To avoid sunburn start it off in a shady spot and gradually raise its light level. I have definitely given my poor aloe a sunburn before but it recovered just fine, good luck with your's, hope this helps!

The Aloe Vera Garden
Edit: Your Aloe Will Never Get Used To The Sunlight If You Keep It In shade or indoors
My beautiful aloe died also after putting outside in the heat, under a covered porch. I keep them inside now.
Can someone help me! My aloe leaves are still very green but some have gone quite flat (not much aloe gel inside) and have bent in half, should i cut these off or can they heal??
I would go ahead & take them off so they dont continue to pull nutrients away from new growth. Also, adding perlite to your fast draining potting soil at about a 50/50 ratio will help immensely.... also make sure its in a terracotta or clay pot. Nothing glazed or plastic. Hope this helps
What kind of soil should I use to repot my plant
Indoor potting mixes work fine or a cactus and succulent mix would be even better
Seeing this now for the first time, the video was posted two years ago, do you have a video of the update on the plant? I shocked the hell out of my aloe plant and wanted to do this process, but I also wanted to see your results! Thanks for the help!
My nephew knocked mine over and it looks horrible. I repotted it but I am not sure it will be okay. He broke all the new growth and the larger leaves are bent and brown.
Sending my green thumb energy over to you!!!
Hi! I am so so worried that my aloe Vera plant is going to die and my mom is too :( I accuse ly over watered it any tips?
If your aloe Vera is overwatered Cut the plant off the roots and air-dry both plant them the root part will give you pups and the top part will root hope this helps
Hi please help😅 ive had an aloe vera plant for a couple years maybe 4 so its a bit big and thick and i normally keep it outside this year we had more snow than the last couple years and i had thought that it would be fine but when i saw the aloe all the leaves had droopy tips so i took it inside asap and now that it got warmer the leaves started to droop way more and its all squishy is there any way to save it it made me so sad it just started having babies🥺😖😣
can u do and aloe vera update or im not going to eat i sware 😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
No, please eat! I’ve made an update for you.
O M G mines looking just like that.
I left mine outside in freezing temperatures! And its still freezing here. I don’t know if i will be able to save it. :(
You ain’t by yourself… Sho’NuFF!
But Just, Try.
You got nothing to lose by trying. Good Luck to you.
Where's the before pic before it was water logged
I probably should of waited to repot then😩
4.43 mins before he started to saved the plant
Thanks, but most of the community loves to hear the story behind the video and topic
I thought it was just me bro, like was What is the damn information?
But aloe are not deep rooted plant so shallow pot that can support the size & balance for huge aloe.
Keep it plump!
I have a question i left my aloe outside it snowed it was under a covered porch but its all soft will it live or is it a loss it was only for 24hours we didnt kno it was gonna snow an tempature drop like it did
Mine went through the same thing I had to cut all the soft parts and just left the middle
@@donkiko6708 what happened when you cut all the soft parts off?
Any updates?
I’ve got it featured in my latest houseplant tour video but will likely do an update within the next month as well 🌿
is an aloe, but not an aloe vera.... aloe vera is smaller and doesn't form rosettes like regular aloes.
My plants look like there’s a worm at the very bottom and starting to droop over, then falling off from the root. Pot is overcrowded and may be overwatered..🤦🏾♀️ Can you please help me?
if the leaves look brown and mushy maybe try shaking all the dirt off the roots and wrapping it in newspaper until it dries, also try removing and leaves that have completely been damaged
@@eshalsattar8607 it has completely come off the root.. thank you so much for your response!
.....why does it sound so much like how you take care of people.......
After one month I wonder what happened to this survivor 😂
