The Duchess of Gloucester and Princess Michael of Kent helping the Duke of Kent with his uniform really warms my heart. His wife isn’t there with him but his sister-in-law and cousin-in-law were there for him. I think that’s very sweet.
The Duchess of Kent is a wonderful lady who has done so much for sick children in hospitals now she herself is very unwell and is unable to attend a lot of events these days bless her.

@richard herbert Apparently there were several squadrons of Spitfires hidden away in the Burma jungle after the war. They could not get them back to England. The location was lost. There have been attempts to find them since but current politics in the region don't make things helpful.

Impressive. Didn't know that about the Prince of Wales or the rest of the Royal Family: i.e. getting their "wings" in the Royal Air Force! Knowing that and knowing they ALL could have avoided military service, altogether, I have to say ALL of them "put in their time" in a very dangerous branch of the military. Flying an aircraft and being in the military is a VERY humbling experience. Certainly raises the status, in my mind, of the Royal family in Britain. I WISH all the leaders in our country would have that kind of experience. (A Former USAF pilot).

For me, I found the commentary intrusive and ill-timed. I hope that in future we are able to hear all the wonderful music and also te silences which are all part of the event, and have the opportunity to enoy the spectacle without the commentary. It would have been nice to hear the recessional march by the Royal Airforce Band without the commentator talking over it and re-iterating the Archbishop's sermon.

They don't really hold on to each other physically like that in the RF. I mean, I get she is still learning the ropes, with customs and protocol and all, but I just thought I'd point it out. Other than that, they are such a beautiful unit.

He’s the honorary colonel of the Wessex Yeomanry, a reserve unit. Princess Anne also wears a uniform on occasion as the Colonel of the Blues and Royals and holds the title of Gold Stick, the official CO of the Household Cavalry.
