The case sizes is not the same for both. Thickness is also different, lug length and shape is also different. Crown guards and obviously movement are also different. I think you could had been a lot more detailed in the comparison with more macro shots and wrist close up shots but overall I enjoy your videos. To me it looks like you would take the new 12 reference but with the 11 reference dial and call it a day, I also prefer the dial of the 11 and the smaller clasp actually.
I rarely say this: the older version looks better. I like that the indices are slimmer and a bit longer but I hate that they removed the black accent. It makes it look too plain. The sub dials are also better on the old version.
For me it has to be the new reference. Dial looks much more refined with the gold and narrower hour markers, the gold bezel insert looks fantastic and for me, the glidelock clasp would be a deal maker. It’s a night and day upgrade to the easy link extension offering so much more adjustment and flexibility. I guess the only negative I could pick out would be with the shallower case back. From what I’ve seen, having never tried on a daytona, they sit quite slim to the wrist already so lowering to the wrist even more might take away a little “wrist prescence” if that’s a way of putting it. Incredible watch all the same
@@thehonestwatchdealer I’ve loved the rose gold/chocolate dial Daytona from befote it was even put on Oysterflex and it was my dream watch. Oysterflex just upped the level of it even more but starting to like yellow gold on Oysterflex the more I see them too. Really rate the glidelock on my humble stainless steel Submariner so to see it make it onto the Dayton and Skydweller oysterflex is a huge bonus. No worries, the channel is brilliant!
Two great watches. I do prefer the glidelock clasp and being a little longer. Shame they didn’t do the open back in new model. I’m thinking maybe in future Rolex will do all their Daytonas they should definitely in precious metals.🤔Thanks Charlie showing us the differences.
Thanks very much Charlie...both are simply beautiful watches. I prefer the black outlines on the face of the older version...and the clasp on the new version. I'd hate to have to make the decision!!
Wear that watch every …… that’s the best value because it’s class and conviction to it’s wearability regardless of being precious metal. Congratulations…..🎉🎉🎉…..Stunning!
Best review for 11 & 12 references on Pikachu! I love my old reference too as it means a lot to me while obtaining it at 30. Self-reward after working so hard for so many years! Hope it goes the same for you! Cheers!
Glad you enjoyed the video mate, it’s much appreciated! Huge congrats on your acquisition, you have such a special watch there. Nice to hear it has sentimental value - that’s what owning a luxury timepiece should represent 🙌🏻💯
Hi Charlier! Ineresting question. Can we buy a full gold Daytona and then change the bracelet to an Oysterflex? Would rolex sell you a bracelet alone? Love the videos, keep it up!
Cheers Charlie. Also, with the Oysterflex do you ever find yourself lusting after the actual precious metal bracelet or just overall prefer the Oysterflex? I know this conflicts many as you're spending so much for a precious metal piece on what's essentially a rubber strap with a sliver of titanium through the blades. Thoughts? Would be great if you did a review on the Oysterflex strap itself, how it holds up to wear & tear, etc @@thehonestwatchdealer
Definitely prefer the old dial, the clasp wouldn't bother me not much in it, the condition and price is what i would focus on, if they evey touch 30k im pulling the trigger
Consuming your content a lot now since I'm looking to purchase a Rolex. Would love to do it from you but since you(the UK) left the EU, VAT would kill me haha! :) Either way, I'm loving your content and how you present it!
Definitely! I find this search to be a jungle and have started looking outside my local national market. If you can recommend any dealer inside the EU I'm all ears! Thanks again for a great channel! :) @@thehonestwatchdealer
I'm definitely a Rolex lover which I have the privilege of owning two at this moment, I have my heart on getting the deepsea dweller titanium 50 mm, but seeing the small differences in both of these watches doesn't perk my interest, I like to make moves on watches when it is a significant difference between the two, and in this case I feel there's no big difference between the two to persuade me.
Do we know why the glidelock is only on the oysterflex bands and not the full bracelet? Would the gold of the bracelet links scratch too easily when housed in the clasp?
So the Glidelock has typically only been on the full bracelet divers models (for adjustability over a wetsuit), as the Daytona isn't a divers watch it has likely been left off for this reason. I would imagine it has been added to the Oysterflex range to allow for more adjustability as the Rubber straps are a set size.
Is there any way to swap and put the clasp on the older version? Simply put the older dial is legendary and can't be forsaken, just need that new clasp somehow?
Yes they are! I see why many choose the rimless version but as i see it gives s more elegant look for it. Also i would fear to wear it frequently as i would think the ceramik edge would crack compared to the gold rim.
@@sandorkmeth265 Spot on there with the elegance of the bezel! So all the full precious metal models would arrive a lot quicker than their Oysterflex counterpart. Though the Pikachu dial would be a touch harder to source than the others 👍
New one is so much cleaner. The gold Indices look better. The dial is less cluttered and more legible. Gold ring round the bezel pops more. The 4 lines of font are less bold and take away from the dial less. All-around better watch. Not even close.
@@thehonestwatchdealer Keep up the good work with the channel mate. You and your crew produce some great stuff. Hope it pays off for you in terms of the business as well. You deserve it with the hard work put in.
Paul Newman has his own Daytona but nobody talks about the plain off-white dial, steel, date-just he wore in The Colour of Money. It's a boring watch. I get it but it got a lot of screen time on Paul Newman's wrist. That model deserves at least a little love but I don't think it does. Lets face facts. Paul Newman is easily one of the coolest actors ever. The only actor, with the exception of Frank Sinatra, who co-stared in a movie with Steve McQueen and equalled him for screen presence. He played an update of his Fast Eddie character from The Hustler perfectly. His character's style was spot on too. That exact model is not made today. I know cause I checked the website...lol Do you ever have anyone asking about it? Bringing it up because this video is about Daytona's and I'm curious. I know you're extremely busy. If you have the time to answer me. Thank you in advance. Sorry this was so long. As my wife famously tells me all the time "you don't summerize at all". Hope you have a great week. Cheers.
Ah yes, you are exactly right - it doesn't get the love it deserves. It is definitely overlooked in favour of the Daytona and as such not many people ask about this model! Have a great week too and thank you for watching!
Really like both but personally prefer the older look. The black indices make all the difference. But you can’t go wrong either way. Great review.
You are absolutely right there! Thanks for watching mate 🙏
I bet this was his favourite video to make
😆👍
Creamin for it

The case is the same on the oysteflex but different in the new steel Daytona
Leading the way again mate! No one else has called out the case back change and the way that impacts the depth of the watch. THANK YOU!
Thank you mate I really appreciate that! 🙏
I rarely say this: the older version looks better. I like that the indices are slimmer and a bit longer but I hate that they removed the black accent. It makes it look too plain. The sub dials are also better on the old version.
Ah the black indices is great on the older reference isn’t it 👌🏻
Great comparison. I like the dial better on the former iteration, but the glide lock clasp makes the new version superior, I think.
Absolutely spot on here 🙌
wow, both are stunners. New reference for me though, love the way the bezel insert lessons the blackness overall when paired with the oysterflex
The new bezel insert is a nice touch 👌
Both lovely mate , certainly a good move by Rolex to use the glide lock , it’s use on all models would be a bonus , thank you for this video 👍🏻💥💥
Thank you for watching mate, you are right, hopefully they roll this out over all the models. That would be great 👌🏻
Thank you so much for this, been wondering the major differences. You've totally made this desirable for many.

Saw one in my AD today and wow, so much nicer in the flesh vs online, loving the new 126*** Daytonas 😀
You are right, they look so much better in person 👌🏻
Very helpful video- I have the older version and love the way it wears and looks as well! Bonus is I love Pikachu too. 😀
Ah yes it’s incredible isn’t it, and does help loving Pikachu too! 😆
@thehonestwatchdealer indeed- keep these great videos coming in! 👏
Thanks very much Charlie...both are simply beautiful watches. I prefer the black outlines on the face of the older version...and the clasp on the new version. I'd hate to have to make the decision!!
Haha hard choice isn’t it! Great things about both!
Easylink isn't that good for me because the 5mm difference is too much. The 2mm increments of Glidelock are perfect, always get the perfect fit.

OLDER VERSION SO MUCH NICER THEN NEW ONE! Dial looks very odd for newer version on all Daytona dials are way to thin!
Definitely gone for a classier look 👌

I’m with you and the majority, the old dial with the new Oysterflex 👌🏻
👌💯
Is the Sundust dial the same as the champagne? If so Which is more desirable?
So the Sundust is on the rose gold model, the champagne is on the yellow gold - both great options!
Great comps! Unfortunately no sure we can really keep the Pikachu moniker for the new one since it's lost its black-tipped "ears" :)
Ahhh very true! Will always be the Pikachu though! 😆⚡️
Beautiful watches. And for me that is gamechanger. For the very first time I like the Daytona (both).
Ah great to hear their changes have made you like the Daytona range now! 👌🏻
Glide lock is amazing
But also the lugs are now different
It is a very handy addition isn't it 👌
Definitely prefer the old dial, the clasp wouldn't bother me not much in it, the condition and price is what i would focus on, if they evey touch 30k im pulling the trigger
Ah I wonder if we would see those price points! 🙌
30k?! ha ha ha ha ha😂
I could do without the black indices, so I'm partial to the newer one. Can't go wrong with either though.

Which is more appealing on oysterflex. Yellow or rose gold?
Yellow gold 👍

That would be interesting!

The case has changed on the new one the lugs are different and it’s thinner
Sport on there, both equally balance on each side now 👌
