- Pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet performs fellow Frenchman Erik Satie’s most recognizable work, the elegant and melancholic "Gymnopédie No. 1", from the set of three. Satie’s Gymnopédies have been covered by a number of jazz and instrumental rock groups and appeared in the soundtrack to films from “Man on Wire” to “The Royal Tenenbaums.”

Immediately his touch is special
Magnifique interprétation de ce succès d'Eric Satie.. il suffit de fermer les yeux pour voyager dans l'immensité de l'univers...
Hearing this outdoors, you can hear the wind and birds chirping in the background...just perfect
Merci Monsieur Thibaudet.
How fortunate am I?! I get to hear him in the intimate setting of Kalamazoo College's Stetson Chapel this coming Thursday evening, 3.30.23 doing all of Claude Debussy's "Préludes." A fine pianist indeed!
I’ve always loved his playing!
an outstanding pianist
I just saw him play in Houston, TX (April 2022) and he received a standing ovation for so long that he played a beautiful encore!!!
I could not tell what song he played. I was really hoping it was this one. Such a perfectly composed piece. He plays everything so magnificently.
Love it!
Absolutely sublime!
The best performance
What an interesting presentation - the background, the wonderful Jean-Yves Thibaudet - a visual feast.
Amazing video!
To my ears : one of the greatest tunes ever!
me too
Thank you so much for sharing such a beautiful performance!
... extraordinary interpretation, within an excellent Steinway tuned to perfection.
Let me say, mr. Thibaudet, that his way of managing space and time between touching the keys is, in my view, unique. Just how deep is the bond between his spirituality and that of Satie.
Thank you very much.
I've never heard such a beautiful melody :)
Que expresividad tan magnífica.
This beauty recently performed here in Kalamazoo!
