    What is amazing is that Satie did not want his music to be paid attention, it was written as background music. Supposedly he got infuriated by people paying close attention to it. I think he’s one of the most underrated composers. I love nothing more than putting on my best headphones and listening to every note and intonation. Vinheteiro, yours is my favourite, everything else seems poorly phrased, your subtlety is perfection. It makes me sad the Satie would be angry that I am paying such attention but happy that it exists.

    • @batteredthem
      @batteredthem 3 роки тому +17

      Most other versions available for easy listening are too slow in my opinion. Honestly if you take the song too slow then you pay attention to it just enough to fall asleep. This is background music that will always be appreciated.

      Na realidade o nome da obra prima de Cristofori é "piano-forte" que no italiano, língua mãe desse inventor, quer dizer "fraco-forte", o que dá justo essa ideia das intensidades variáveis desse instrumento tão belo. Antes desse aprimoramento, o instrumento de cordas percutidas, os instrumentos só tinham a possibilidade de tocar no "forte", como por exemplo o Cravo, instrumento este de corda "plectrada"(plectro é nome que se dá a algum objeto que "beliscará" a corda de um instrumento, emitindo assim um som. I feel like I’m somewhere dark, cold, and slightly windy. I’m on a path searching for something but the sky is so beautiful tonight. Maybe I’ll just rest here tonight. Reminiscing about this town that was once full of life but now an empty void of what once was. I dream of a time when the maw of darkness had not yet consumed what was once a bustling town with kids playing in the parks and cars driving up and down the busy streets.

    Satie was a strange man....of all the hundreds of pieces he wrote, it is THIS one, the background, meant for parties, that he is best remembered for. One day, Satie went to a taylor and had a suit made. He liked it. The next day, he went back to the same Taylor and said....make me seven more, exactly the same. He always wore ONE of his suits, all the same. Satie lived in a very tiny Parsian apartment. He had a piano. One day, he bought another piano, but had no place to put it. So he simply stacked the second piano on top of the first one. Satie wrote an opera with French modern artists, like Picasso. Picasso built all of the set pieces for the opera. The show was a gigantic FLOP. Picasso took all of his hand-built pieces out the to the street. And burned them.

    When you see Vinheteiro playing on the UA-cam, always with his laconic face and big green eyes looking straight at us, becomes very hard to imagine he is the same guy which is a growing success as a radio and internet comedian, with his strong Mooca (São Paulo neighbourhood) low-middle class accent, his dirty-mouth talking slangs and his favorite matter outside music: pussies...
    But, yep, it's the same guy!
