I advise everyone to watch this video all the way through to hear what I have to say about her cage! I will eventually upgrade to a bigger cage. I got rid of the ball and the dust bath and got repti sand instead and got rid of the oxbow food!😌
That food is really bad as oxbow caters more towards hay based diets which aren’t good for hamsters because it has no benefits or nutrients for them and hamsters have been known to starve off of hay based diets. I recommend either Higgins sunburst or Vita garden mix with Mazuri rat and mouse lab blocks for protein
Also I recommend making a bin cage out of a 50gallon storage bin you can find tutorials and I recommend watch Victoria Rachel she’s great! Hamsters also need atleast 6+in of bedding because they are ground dwellers and burrowers
If she can find a big enough bin, otherwise the Detolf shelf from Ikea is great and huge, nany use it as a hamster cage, it's affordable for it's size too.
i recommend scatter feeding. this is just when you scatter their food (fruit, veggies, dried fruit, dried flowers, nuts, seeds, etc.) around their enclosure. this gives them the experience of collecting food from different areas. it's so cute when they collect all the food by stuffing it in their cheeks and then they bring it to a designated to spit the food out and eat it.
Thank you for taking the criticism!! One more thing: I would recommend deeper bedding. They say it should be about 6inches deep so you might need a taller cage so that the hamsters can burrow. Also. I would recommend getting a water bowl instead of a water bottle. Hamster find it really hard to squeeze water out of a water bottle and can die of thirst. Last thing. I know the pink bedding is cute, but you need to get white bedding so that if your hamster is showing any symtoms of being sick, you can see the blood or discharge in the bedding. Thank you!!!

Aww ur hammy is so adorable 🥺💕 just make sure to change the sand bath with reptisand or children's playsand bc dust baths cause respiratory problems and can kill your hamster, the best food mix is Higgins Sunburst (which u have) and Mazuri Rat & Mouse Diet for a boost in protein ratio is half and half. Yours is so much calmer than mine! I just got mine tonight and it’s being just a crackhead. I feel so bad it’s so scared and not eating. I made the cage as friendly as possible!
A hamster needs atleast 6inches of bedding to burrow. I would upgrade to atleast a 20gal tank. More floor space the happier they are. The hamster ball is more stressful to them and actually isn’t safe for them. They also love when you scatter food around the cage for them to find it. I already saw in another comment they mention dust isn’t good. It can cause respiratory infections. Make sure to get sand bath. Dust free. when you clean out her tank make sure you keep a few hand fulls of her old bedding to leave in the tank so she knows it’s her home and not a brand new one. Cleaning it completely out will make her think it’s a new home and stress her out all over again. I hope this helps ❤️
honestly you super good for a first owner you did really well and i’m glad you choose to add a wheel and get hide (the castle is sooo cute!) and i’m glad you ditched the oxbow and ball im also glad you are considering upgrading her tank as hamsters so need a lot of room! the only thing i would suggest it put more bedding in the bottom they love to dig and burrow! great video💜
I’ve heard sunburst is actually bad for hamsters? I’m not 100 percent sure but I’ve only heard people say it isn’t good for hamsters and doesn’t have the nutrients for them
Yessss! This is such a good video, I love how you used a tank instead of a wire cage! I know like a lot of people have been telling you this, but try to upgrade the cage! Well I hope you and your adorable hammy have a great life!
dont doom on wire vages too much! certain wire cages are okay aslong as they have the depth for burrowing or your willing to adapt it so it does. althought u can get better tanks and bin cages, some wire cages are actually suitable and although it's not ideal hamsters do love the bars ( im aware that it isnt amazing for hamsters to "monkey bar" but it is an enjoyable activity if not done in stress
Hey! I just read the comment that you said you where gonna get ride of products and upgrade soon. However, I would recommend upgrading sooner than later because hamsters need alot of room, at minimum450sq inches of floorspace. :) I also would recommend putting back the hide because hamsters need at least 1 hideout in they're enclosure!
Yes in case you have noticed, I’m a year late. But I used to have a dwarf hamster they typically live 2-SOMETIMES 3 years. They can also bite but it’s rare. And if you find rainbow bedding I DONT recommend rainbow bedding it’s not good for them. If your holding them for a while they might poop on you but don’t worry, the poop looks like tiny brown bananas and just is not really that gross? So yeah :)
okay im 100% not hating but im going to take notes during the video on how you can give your ham the best life possible! also I have a hamster care channel if you wanted to check it out:) as you acknowledged, a bigger cage (450sq inches minimum). get sand instead of dust, dust is really bad for their respiratory system as it is too fine and powdery, you can use children's play sand or non-dyed, no calcium added reptisand. As others have said they come from sandy areas so sand should makeup a larger part of their enclosure. i would not recommend using the blanket, it has long fibers that when they chew off pieces of the fabric to take to their burrow can very easily get wrapped around their teeth and stuck in their pouches. Its much more enriching for your hamster to have a high variety diet instead of pellets. something like higgins sunburst (which i see is the exact one you ended up getting!) for hamsters is great when paired with a protein lab block. cage cleaners arent the best due to the chemicals, a safe alternative is a 50/50 water and white vinegar mix! and the gerber puffs you got, nothing wrong with them, I just wanted to say my hamster is obsessed with them!
Its all really great! Also tip: The apple sticks are really great for their teeth and its healthy! Also the drops with strawberries are very tasty for them and healthy as long as you dont over feed them with the drops because of how much sugar it has but i just got the exact same strawberry drops today! But so far so good. And i do suggest the Strawberry drops!!!
Dont put the hamster in the ball. It’s really stressful for them cause they don’t know where they are. If they pee in there it’s gonna turn and the pee is going to go on the hamster and it’s not good. If you want to play with them but them in a bath with a blanket :)) hope it helped. And btw Victoria Reachel is really good with tips for hamster 🐹
@@Ark8ngel I never knew I thought it was good and he likes going in it cause he was in the floor running. About and I never had the ball out and he was trynna get in it x
Omg I love everything about it!! She’s so cute and the cage is too! I do suggest a little more bedding bc hamsters like to burrow deep down, so more bedding will give her a bit more room to do that!
Cute robo! Robo hamsters especially are extremely active and need a ton of space. You should really try and get the 40 gallon tank if you can so she can have a happy life in her cage. Also hamsters are natural borrowers so you should have at least 6 inches of bedding at the bare minimum (even if thats just at one end). Id also recommend scatter feeding as its better to keep them from getting them bored :)
@@yourfavoritetransguy8453 Yep. I bought a huge bag of children's play sand for my hamster (a cheaper option). I just put it in the oven to bake and sieve it and its good to go.
@@KeiaunaGomez I appreciate that you're going to be upgrading but that tank will cause severe stress for your baby 😔 robos are so active and having such a little space and no wheel can cause heart issues. Robos run on average 5 miles a night so even one night without access to a wheel is detrimental to them.
I can tell you’ve done some research, and I understand this is just a temporary enclosure but I hope you upgrade her enclosure soon!!.Your robo is adorable ✨
Hi, i noticed the dust bath i 100% recommend getting rid of that and using a sand bath instead, the ball it can cause stress and then can lead to injuries also i love how she wants us to tell her things that should not be used for a hamster or even any other pet like a hamster
i think it is great that you want to upgrade i would recommend buying/DIYing a bin cage just because they are so cheap and you can get them however big you want it! ( also a lil more bedding would be appreciated)
Ok so this is my advice Number 1: that ball is unsafe a Toe can get stuck and once see starts it will be hard to stop 2:if that bedding is scented RUN! to her cage and get her out because the sent can have bad chemicals 3:that food is terrible I suggest the higgins gourmet blend and some herbs for enrichment and no yogurt drops if u give them to her only once a week 4:enrichment ok so I suggest scatter feeding spread her food all over the cage for her to forage and look for it and sprays here are some -millet-flaxseed-oatspray 5:NO dust bath if it’s says dust DONT get it because that can cause an infection and since she’s a robo she needs way more sand since she’s from the Deserty side and if u r wondering what sand to buy here are some -children’s play sand-reptile sand-any sand that say SAND not dust- Also I mean no hate but I suggest watching Victoria raechel
yall are so rude- shes showing the animal she chose too get and is taking care of very well. she litteraly said she WILL be upgrading her cage/supplies. yall needa humble urselves😭
When you say “they recommended” are you talking about the pet store ? Cuz 😭it sounds simple things that they would tell you but one use reptile or play sand instead of the dust because the dust is too fine and could cause respiratory problems also the ball thing that you got is dangerous cuz they can get there feet stuck and they already can’t see like that so when you put them in that ball you cut off their senses and they can’t tell where they are going so not fun 😭 I mean no hate with this I just understand like not knowing I’m sure a lot of other people have told this but Victoria Rachel is a good hamster channel to watch 🤷🏾♀️
DON'T USE THE BALL, DON'T USE THE DUST( USE SAND ), GET A WHEEL, YOGURT DROPS ARE TO SWEET, AT LEAST 6 INCHES OF BEDDING, 10 GALLON AQUARIUM IS TO SMALL ( minimum 40 gallon )
I love how you took all the criticism and got a new cage, got rid of the ball, and got good sand! Btw another good cage cleaner you can make at home by just putting 50% water and 50% white vinegar in a spray bottle!
They should have 6-16 inches of bedding and a 49 gallon tank! But robo dwarfs also need a wheel that keeps their back strait and one so they don’t fall off because they are really fast runners
Hey girly! Your hamster is literally the cutest thing ever 💕, I also have a robo! When I first got my hamster I didn't know too much either but I think everything rrly important is corrected in the comment section already! But I do recommend returning the hamster ball bc I heard that it can hurt you hamster bc robot are really fast and sometimes they can't stop. But overall I think your doing great!😊
She really is! Its her first hamster so i am glad everyone is going easy on her! And im glad people are still giving her correct and kind corrections! Yes hamster ball is not usually good for them so i hope she fixes that! ❤️🐹🥰
Yes I have A Syrian and she has a bin cage and it's really big and I like robo hamsters but their a little bit to wild for me and I little to scared but there ok but I love all hamsters but I hope she has so much fun with her hamster and yeah I hope she will return the hamster ball😊😁🤗❤
Your hamster is so cute! The only thing I recommend is instead of a dust bath they need a sand bath, u can use kids sand, or chinchilla sand..but DUST sand will make them sick!
Make sure there bedding has atleast 12inches deep because they make burrows in the wild so they like to f Dig often. Hope it helped!! Im getting a hampster for Christmas so i already knkw alot about them. HOPE this helped!! 🥰
I love that you’re taking criticism really well, it really shows you love Horchata. But I think you should upgrade her cage a bit, hamsters require a minimum of 450 sq inches and 4-6 inches of bedding in an area to burrow, like they would in the wild. Also, please, please, please, get a larger wheel and make sure it isn’t mesh, mesh wheels can cause bumble foot. You should also watch Victoria raechal, she’s seriously a hamster guru! and for added enrichment, I recommend scattering herbs and leaves from Etsy and putting around some sprays, which are basically stalks that your hamster can take seeds from! Good luck with horchata, the two of u seem really nice!
I love the cage but you need a little less then half of the tank of bedding for your hamster to burrow I don’t recommend the hamster ball (bad ventilation, the holes for ventilation can break their foot and it stresses them out
Hi :) I usually hamsters, especially dwarfs need larger enclosures :) they are very energetic and need a lot of room to run around and play! Also I noticed that you got a dust bath which can lead to respiratory issues. Hope this help and I hope you enjoy your new friend:)
I’d recommend when you get a bigger cage and when cleaning that you only do spot cleaning and not take out all the bedding as new bedding causes them to stress as their scent is no longer there or any burrows
Now I want a hamster.. might ask for my birthday coming up in a 28 days:)) Been wanting a fish but now watching this, I want a hamster😩 But it’s cutee love the cage and decoration
Remember to do your research! Like watching Victoria Reachel or erinsanimals etc. As they are a lot if you live in the us make sure the cage is above 450sq inches (width times by length in inches=sq inches). But I hope you can get a hamster and enjoy having one!
When you eventually buy a bigger cage, please remember to put a lot of bedding in! Hamster need all that bedding to borrow in, and 3 inches of substrate is the BARE MINIMUM. You want to make sure to include more things that allows the hamster to indulge in activities it would do in the wild!
Just saying I recommend doing play sand and meal worms with some herbs and a log but everything else good job and one more thing they like foraging and like 5/8 inches of bedding
since you did get a robo hamster, THEY LOVE SAND! it’s adorable 🥰 but i would recommend making your sand bath bigger since they really need a lot of sand. and this video is a little old so you may have already done that but just wanted to let ya know! your robo is adorable(horchata is a amazing name 😍) you are a great hamster mama 😄
Something enriching you could try for her is scatter feeding which will encourage foraging and it keeps her busy. Just randomly sprinkle food around her enclosure, maybe hide some so she has to dig for it and it engages her brain ❤️🐹
Hey just a quick tip for if you get a new hamster (because this one is probably already tamed by now), while your taming a hamster you can go on a dry bathtub and put a towel down and let your hamster walk/run around and get used to you! And I saw the comment you made about how your updating everything. I suggest you put at last 6 inches of bedding so your hamster can burrow. I know a bit about hamsters because I’m going to save up for one and I’ll buy it for summer break (because of school) so I don’t know everything and I’m definitely not an expert(i just watch a lot of videos about hamster care and I have done some research)! You are definitely doing really well for your first time having a hamster, your an amazing pet owner and I am so happy that you are fixing your tiny mistakes and that you new a lot. Have a great day, Bye!
Heyy! I can tell you have done research but are one thing i’d like to touch on hamster balls aren’t safe they could get their feet stuck in and maybe broken . Tysm for doing your research and you hamster is adorable 🐹🥺❤️
@@sweetluvgurl ik but you have to be respectful and kind for someone to improve on their hamster care because if your rude they will find it a threat and won’t change
Just trying to help - don’t use that ball for your hamster because they get extremely stressed out and it had extremely bad ventilation, make sure that your bedding is never scented, hamsters need a tank that is at least 40 gallons, use at least 8 inches of bedding and make sure to check what vegetables that you hamster can eat.
This video was a made a while ago so I know that you prob got a bigger home for your hamster already and just btw you should get a 40 gallons and put about 6 inches of bedding for them to borrow in also I recommend scatter feeding you just scatter there food around the cage for them it helps with enrichment
Oh also I just wanna say sometimes hamsters can develop cage aggression when moved into a bigger cage, I don’t actually know a lot about it but I think once you decide to move him to a larger one to do some research on it so you know how to prevent it etc. :)
It looks really cute and it helped me a lot bec I am getting a hamster and I wanted to use that fish tank to cause my friend uses it but maybe add more bedding hamsters love to dig!
In my opinion u should buy berry drops back because that is one of their favorite treats and get a wheel for your cage so they can run around in the wheel ❤️👍
Hi Keiauna! I have a tip for your hamster(s)! So, I have a hamster, and I think where you keep your hamster in this video is completely fine, but I do have a recommendation on some cages. Hamsters love tunnels, and they need exercise stuff, like a wheel and a hanging toy. I’ve had multiple hamsters in the last years and they seem to like cages that have built in tunnels, wheels, and huts. I know you most likely won’t see this, but I hope you read it. 😊
i recommend getting a hamster wheel big enough so she can run with a flat back and if he runs with a curved because you need to remove the wheel straight away it can cause back problems for you little hamster x
I would recommend to scatter feed your Hamster and instead of just giving them pellets many get a seed mix with seeds and insects:everything else I love
I don’t recommend the hamster balls or hamster cars, just because the hamsters toes or even a limb can easily possibly get stuck in the tiny ventilation holes but in other cases there might not be enough ventilation holes for the hamster to breath and it can be pretty stressful for the hamster.
I advise everyone to watch this video all the way through to hear what I have to say about her cage! I will eventually upgrade to a bigger cage. I got rid of the ball and the dust bath and got repti sand instead and got rid of the oxbow food!😌

You seem very sweet I’m glad more people are buying animals that need a home! You go girl I’m always rooting for you❤️
That's great that your listening to people trying to help! ☺️
I would change the food to sunburst, a 40 gallon tank, NO HAMSTER BALL, reptile sand, no dust, 3-5 more inches of bedding and a bigger wheel 😁
sun burst is not good. it has a ton of filler. she needs a food that doesn’t have fillers.
@@ibrixli3398 Sunburst is actually recommend by so many people, and one of the best.
@@umwtfnana i have guinea pigs and i know the fillers aren’t good i don’t really know ab hamster
@@ibrixli3398 Hamsters and guinea pigs diets are two different things. So sunburst may not be good for your pigs but its good for hammies.
I’ve heard sunburst is actually bad for hamsters? I’m not 100 percent sure but I’ve only heard people say it isn’t good for hamsters and doesn’t have the nutrients for them
I like how you kept talking about how that tank is just for now so you don't need people to worry that's a good hamster owner right there
So yeah :)
Omg Horchata is so freaking cute!!! I love how you decorated your tank!
Btw your bedroom is so pretty 🦋
okay im 100% not hating but im going to take notes during the video on how you can give your ham the best life possible! also I have a hamster care channel if you wanted to check it out:) as you acknowledged, a bigger cage (450sq inches minimum). get sand instead of dust, dust is really bad for their respiratory system as it is too fine and powdery, you can use children's play sand or non-dyed, no calcium added reptisand.
You forgot to say the ball can also cause bumble foot (no offense)
@@vo.emmuhlay yeah and it constructs there already bad vision, and i’ll add that it also can get a limb stuck

Omg I love everything about it!! She’s so cute and the cage is too! I do suggest a little more bedding bc hamsters like to burrow deep down, so more bedding will give her a bit more room to do that!
Wow you really did a great job most people’s buy the hamster without doing research
Just saw the cage size again, its definitely extremely small :(
I do understand the cage is small. I did explain that I want to give her a bigger cage, just don’t have room atm!
You need sand not dust, the dust can be bad for them
@@yourfavoritetransguy8453 Yep.
You should get a wheel for it to run in! ❤️ she’s super cute!

Love that your willing to take notes just a tip try and use more substrate so they can burrow x
Ok so this is my advice
Number 1: that ball is unsafe a Toe can get stuck and once see starts it will be hard to stop
2:if that bedding is scented RUN! to her cage and get her out because the sent can have bad chemicals
3:that food is terrible I suggest the higgins gourmet blend and some herbs for enrichment and no yogurt drops if u give them to her only once a week
4:enrichment ok so I suggest scatter feeding spread her food all over the cage for her to forage and look for it and sprays here are some -millet-flaxseed-oatspray
5:NO dust bath if it’s says dust DONT get it because that can cause an infection and since she’s a robo she needs way more sand since she’s from the Deserty side and if u r wondering what sand to buy here are some -children’s play sand-reptile sand-any sand that say SAND not dust-
Also I mean no hate but I suggest watching Victoria raechel
That’s the tamest new robo I have ever seen 😂💗
I know this is an older video but I really enjoyed it. Your little buddy is so cute. Thank you for being so kind and loving to her.
Is no one gonna talk about how pretty she is😍💞

She's definitely noticed. It shows.
yall are so rude- shes showing the animal she chose too get and is taking care of very well. she litteraly said she WILL be upgrading her cage/supplies. yall needa humble urselves😭
This is probably the best hamster video I’ve watched besides Victoria ☺️
You need to add more bedding because hamsters dig themselves when they sleep and they store their food underground too !
True
Your first time pet owner squeals are so precious 🥰🥰
DON'T USE THE BALL,
DON'T USE THE DUST( USE SAND ),
GET A WHEEL,
YOGURT DROPS ARE TO SWEET,
AT LEAST 6 INCHES OF BEDDING,
10 GALLON AQUARIUM IS TO SMALL ( minimum 40 gallon )

Make sure there bedding has atleast 12inches deep because they make burrows in the wild so they like to f
Dig often.
"Omg she's eating the carrot" 😂❤️
I love the cage but you need a little less then half of the tank of bedding for your hamster to burrow I don’t recommend the hamster ball (bad ventilation, the holes for ventilation can break their foot and it stresses them out
I heard that oxbow doesn’t make good hamsters food since there are to many fillers, would recommend you to change it.
Btw can you tell how much did it cost all in total.? How much did she cost? & how much did everything else cost? I’m for sure getting one.!
So just for the hamster for me it was $15.99 and everything else was estimated around $100
Remember to do your research! Like watching Victoria Reachel or erinsanimals etc. As they are a lot if you live in the us make sure the cage is above 450sq inches (width times by length in inches=sq inches). But I hope you can get a hamster and enjoy having one!
@@Graces_life thank you, anything else .. I should know.? I’m probably gonna get one my mom said maybe so yeah:)
Your new hamster is sooo cute and the tank is too ❤️❤️
Horchata is soooo cute and i love the setup ❤
When you eventually buy a bigger cage, please remember to put a lot of bedding in! Hamster need all that bedding to borrow in, and 3 inches of substrate is the BARE MINIMUM. You want to make sure to include more things that allows the hamster to indulge in activities it would do in the wild!
horchata be like -what are u guys staring at- bc over 50k ppl is literally staring at her lol
so cute
Just saying I recommend doing play sand and meal worms with some herbs and a log but everything else good job and one more thing they like foraging and like 5/8 inches of bedding
since you did get a robo hamster, THEY LOVE SAND! it’s adorable 🥰 but i would recommend making your sand bath bigger since they really need a lot of sand. and this video is a little old so you may have already done that but just wanted to let ya know! your robo is adorable(horchata is a amazing name 😍) you are a great hamster mama 😄
please don’t use dust for the sand bath, you can use play sand but the dust may be harmful to the hamster!
Yes it could give them respetory issues
fI would recommend getting a differnt hide because hamsters like to be in dark areas when sleeping, and the igloo you bought lets some light through.
Something enriching you could try for her is scatter feeding which will encourage foraging and it keeps her busy. Just randomly sprinkle food around her enclosure, maybe hide some so she has to dig for it and it engages her brain ❤️🐹
Woah good idea! Ima do this for mine. Thanks !
Got one today for my birthday lol
The part where she separated the 2 hamsters melted my heart😭
ikr sooo sad 😔😢🥺😭
Hamsters are solitary animals and actually will fight to the death if kept together for too long. (Especially females) So dont be too sad lol!
Heyy! I can tell you have done research but are one thing i’d like to touch on hamster balls aren’t safe they could get their feet stuck in and maybe broken . Tysm for doing your research and you hamster is adorable 🐹🥺❤️
No she hasn’t. A lot of what she got was wrong. lol The tank, the dust bath, the food, etc.
@@sweetluvgurl ik but you have to be respectful and kind for someone to improve on their hamster care because if your rude they will find it a threat and won’t change
Your hamster is like the cutest on Earth
More bedding would help since hamsters love to dig 😁
Just trying to help - don’t use that ball for your hamster because they get extremely stressed out and it had extremely bad ventilation, make sure that your bedding is never scented, hamsters need a tank that is at least 40 gallons, use at least 8 inches of bedding and make sure to check what vegetables that you hamster can eat.
“OmG sOo cAutE” but seriously she’s adorable
Hello, i see you got a ball and those are actually dangerous for hamsters
They cant stop and the slits for air can catch a hamsters leg or foot.
I would reccomend a bigger tank xxx
This video was a made a while ago so I know that you prob got a bigger home for your hamster already and just btw you should get a 40 gallons and put about 6 inches of bedding for them to borrow in also I recommend scatter feeding you just scatter there food around the cage for them it helps with enrichment
Oh also I just wanna say sometimes hamsters can develop cage aggression when moved into a bigger cage, I don’t actually know a lot about it but I think once you decide to move him to a larger one to do some research on it so you know how to prevent it etc. :)
you forgot the wheel they need it to extersise and have energy
She put the wheel in after she got the hammy. You did not see that
It looks really cute and it helped me a lot bec I am getting a hamster and I wanted to use that fish tank to cause my friend uses it but maybe add more bedding hamsters love to dig!
Oh sorry I thought u didn’t get a wheel
I'm literally crying rn she reminds me so much of my hamster that died 😭😭😭
I recommend getting a plastic lid because hamsters can chew through mesh but if it’s strong mash it’s okay
The Cage is a little too small, even for a robo.
In my opinion u should buy berry drops back because that is one of their favorite treats and get a wheel for your cage so they can run around in the wheel ❤️👍
Here is one little tip. I have a hamster and I think the best cage is a bin gage. So if you have like a empty pretty large bin use that.
Hi! I was wondering if you will add more bedding.Because hamsters burrow
I don’t recommend the hamster balls or hamster cars, just because the hamsters toes or even a limb can easily possibly get stuck in the tiny ventilation holes but in other cases there might not be enough ventilation holes for the hamster to breath and it can be pretty stressful for the hamster.
Hamsters love running at nigth and love dark hiding places ❤❤❤
I have that same hamster!! I also have the wood little hide thingy and those yogurt drops. Hamsters love those
