I had no intention of wrapping a fishing rod with paracord. But I'm so glad I found your video. You're an excellent teacher. Great video I enjoyed the watch.
This is a great tutorial for those looking to wrap there handles , I did mine on a black widow carbon fiber cane pole because it was just a smooth finish and wanted grips on it when your hands are wet and slippery, I also did some decorative thread wraps in gold foil and red thread covered them up with clear hard as nails nail polish it looks great , thanks for posting Tom .👍🏼
Good job Tom!! I like it. I have three rods that I need to do that are the same style as yours, catfish and poles I was going to use baseball bat tape but now that I seen your video I think I’m gonna use Paracord. I’m glad I came across your video. Thank you and God bless.🙏🫶🏼👍🎣🦈🦈🦈🦈🦈
Tom, you are an excellent instructor. I appreciate you taking the time to put this video together. I’m going to use this technique on my fish gaf. Thank you very much.
Thank you so much; I do my own repair on guides on rods and also complete guide sets top to bottom. The method you demonstrated with the cord is the same rod builders use when using winding thread. I have several rods that need some cork rings and have wondered how to repair them without the cost of today's cork rings, and still make them look attractive. You have just given me the greatest idea. Now I can use the right color cord to match my rod. Thanks so much.
VERY cool.. this is really a nice artistic way to make a gift ... you are a good man sir... thank you for your time! and I appreciate you and for your contribution to this world .. many people do not do much anymore ....this is a great lesson in many ways... 💙🤙😊
Glad it may help you. I have seen where some will to the wraps, then un-wrap about 6 turns and apply a little glue along one side. Then re-wrap and pull the pigtail under the glue. Good luck.
Race that is a way to pull the pigtail under the prior wraps to lock it down. I have used that method but decided to try the homemade wire tool with handle to get a better grip on it. A handle could also be used with the heavy mono line. Thanks for the response. The more experience added here the better. Thanks
Tom Waskom I’ve done one rod like this I’m about to do another one I’ve been using 80lb lb braid to pull it through but it kills my hand to pull that braid lol what is another way I could pull it thorough because I can’t come up with anything
Tom, This is the best explanation for paracord wrap I've seen. Well done.
*Packaging was awesome. **enjoyable.fishing** recommend Tube is tough and kept the rod very safe. Rods gorgeous! Can’t wait to use it this spring.*

Thank you SO much for this! I'm about to wrap my first cord wrap on a vintage rod and this tells me everything I need to know! Much appreciated!

Good video, it's give me an idea to add heat shrink over it, I think it would look great 👍
Great way to carry paracord with you for emergency. Great video, I'm going to try it right now. Thanks.

can you put a wrapping finish over it like Gen-4 Low Build to totally finish the cord? Mud Hole has some cord i'm thinking about using
this guy is a badass! thanks for your tutorial!

Mr.Tom, what size parachord did you use.?
That has been a while back but I am sure it was a 7 strand paracord. Same size an military paracord.
It's nicely done. Thank you for sharing.
Darn good Instructional video well done thank you sir
Thank you sir very much. Video was awesome!
Nice work thanks for the video
Great video !
Excellent video. I may do something like this on my bamboo rod.
Glad it may help you. I have seen where some will to the wraps, then un-wrap about 6 turns and apply a little glue along one side. Then re-wrap and pull the pigtail under the glue. Good luck.
不用上胶水粘的么,那样绳子会散开么
Thank you Sir for your knowledge.
what tape are you using at 4:16?
That was awesome
Looks good.
Many thanx for idea.
Good info
To pull the paracord thru at the end I find it works better to use monofilament fishing line

Tom Waskom what size cord was that I’m looking to do this myself
Thanks! I think I'm gonna do this to my ugly stik tiger rod and shrink wrap over it.
just did my rod. looks good too.
Glad it worked for you Carr. Tight Lines

trivia - its called a bodkin rather than wire bracket thingy
Only for those born after 1950. :-)
Awesome
Thank you sir
Clifford Zammit, thanks worked for me.
Thank you Sir.
NEVER BEAT THE CRACK OUT OF YOUR POLE LOL JUST SAYING😉🤔🤓😜
sorry..saw it in the front of the video. thanks..
nice thx!!!
double wrapping is a WASTE of Paracord. Better to use some other filler and 1 layer of Paracord.
