6:10 Lasith Malinga is 5'6", which is very short for a fast bowler. Cricketers come in all sizes, from Kruger Van Wyk of South Africa (at 4'9") to Mohammad Irfan of Pakistan (at 7'2"). Sri Lankans are not very tall (I am 5'8" and considered tall here), but they use their creativity and come up with special techniques to excel in cricket...
@@rocketrabble6737 Malinga is nowhere close to 5'8". I have met him. I have stood next to him. He is at most 5'7" with shoes on. With long hair, maybe 5'10"
Malinga is not spin bowler. Actually there are two types fast bowler in Cricket. Front Arm and Side Arm bowler. Mostly bowler is Front arm in cricket. You can better control as a front arm bowler. Side Arm bowling little difficult to control but you got pace/ speed in this action. Malinga is side arm bowler but he well trained himself to control side Arm bowling.
In front Arm bowler If you are right arm fast bowler your right hand will follow left arm which will be in front of batsman but in side Arm bowling your hand will move Frome side of your body
That patch in the left is also a pitch on which cricket can be played. Most of the cricket grounds have multiple pitches on them because they are used as practise pitches. But actual game is played on the one which is in the best condition.
Chetan Patni in addition to your comment the other pitches are previously used match pitches that are under repair. Once a pitch has been used for 3 or 4 od games, it’s done for that season in some cases. They’ll then move to the next but one pitch until all pitches have been used.
you are allowed to hit the batter. some times if the batter is playing too defensively, not hitting, playing shots into the ground so that no one catches him, protecting his stumps etc. then bowlers usually start targetting the batter (usually his head) so that he does something stupid to protect his head.
Dude, he's a fast bowler, there's no spin. It's called as "Swing" (Inswing & Outswing). Then there are cutters and knuckle balls, which typically fast bowlers (pacers) bowl.
When a fast bowler “spins” it’s called cut, it’s caused when a bowler rolls their fingers down one side of the ball causing it to move to one side after bouncing. You should react to body line. People were out for blood.
That's not called spin, that's called SWING. Term spin is used for finger spin bowler. This guy is from Sri Lanka. His name is Lasith Malinga. He got funky hair.
And no, you're wrong. There is no spin on the ball. The ball just hit his bat and the bat dragged the ball onto the stumps that's it. Lasith Malinga(the bowler you're reacting to) is a fast bowler (Pacer). He does not do spin bowling. Spin bowlers are different.
There is spin on the ball but it mostly back spin from the release of the ball. There is no side spin on the ball which would create lateral movement off the pitch. If you had no spin at all you have the equivalent of a knuckle ball baseball pitch of which there are very few if any proponents of to any decent standard in Cricket largely because that rotational drift you can get from a great knuckle ball is negated by the ball bouncing.
@@Chetan00754 A knuckleball and swing are a little bit different. Swinging it James Anderson style the ball will go either from leg to off or off to leg depending on which way the ball is held and whether or not it's reversing. The Knuckleball swings one way then the other almost wobbling in a spiral like trajectory.
The best thing about Sri Lanka is that they produce unorthodox players. Malinga's sideways action is due to him playing cricket on the beach in Sri Lanka. If you bowl the normal way with the overhead action on the sand you won't be able to bounce the ball. You have to sling it sideways like he did to make it bounce in the sand. And he carried on that action into his normal bowling action. It's this unorthodox action that made him one of the most difficult players to play against in the world. As you just can't prepare for him.
4:00 In Cricket, you are not allowed to bowl a ball that does not bounce (we call it a full toss) above the waist (also known as a beamer at this height) more than once. If you do it once, you will be no-balled (meaning that ball will be penalised a run, has to be bowled again, and the next ball, the batsman will get a free hit). The first time, you will also be issued a warning. If you do it a second time, you will be taken off and not allowed to bowl for the rest of the innings (yes, not inning, innings). You are also allowed to bowl what's called Bouncers (balls that bounce on the pitch and rise above shoulder height), but the laws are more lenient. Currently, bouncers are limited to 2 per over (one per over in T20 cricket) , and if you bowl it above head height, it will be called a wide, but it still counts as a bouncer. After two bouncers, you will be no-balled (see above) and the batting team will be given 2 extra runs per bouncer bowled. Hope this clarifies this rule.
If ball is going to stumps(wickets) and batsman's leg or body comes between the stumps and ball, then it will be also a wicket, but the decision has to be made by the empire whether ball was going to hit the wickets or not?, that';s bowling team asks the empire if it's out or not, just like the last wicket in this video, This type of wicket is known as LBW (Leg before wicket).
Hey bro i apologize for my rudeness but its Umpire not empire right? Anyway im glad people trying to make some sense abt cricket into Americans. Which they don't understand at all and some of them think it's a ripoff of baseball.
When a fast bowler bowls a spinning bow by dragging his fingers across the seam it is called a cutter, off or leg cutter depending on whether the direction off spin is to the off or leg side. .......If the ball moves through the air or swings, kinda like a curve ball then it's called swing bowling. This is achieved by keeping the seam straight up and down. That is why the bowler shines the ball on one side but not the other. The rough side causes drag and the ball swings through the air. Hope that helps : )
Shoulder level bouncers are allowed in all forms of cricket mostly 1 per over, sometimes it hurts batters , pitch or the 22 yard plays a povital role because most cricket pitches varies in character ,so understanding the character of the cricket pitch before match, wind direction, weather and other natural factors are important, all over cricket is a complex game that's why most of the well developed countries still lag behind in cricket
Dude Learn more about cricket. Malinga is a one of those Legendary bowlers. There are some others you got to watch. The Legend bowlers. Muttiah Muralidharan Shane Warne Shaqlain Mushtaq Legends of Spin bowling. first 2 are highest wicket takers for all time.
he is known as Yoker King. He is not a spinner. He is a fast baller. He is very unique because of his bowling action. Fast bowlers do not spin. They are swinging. Fast bowlers change the direction before hitting the ground that is known as swinging. Sometimes they change the bowling direction after hitting the ground that is known as off cutter and leg cutter. Spinners do not bowl very fast but they spin the bowl. Lasith Malinga has few unbeatable world records. These are his nicknames. "Slinga", "Mali", "Yoker King", " Malinga the Slinga", "Toe-Crusher".
To answer some of your questions. He is a Pace bowler 140 plus km hour (90 miles plus). A cricket ball is very different to a base ball. Unlike a base ball it has one large seam around the ball and this allows the bowler to hold the ball many different ways to create different deliveries. ( how the ball moves through the air and off the pitch. The grass area between the stumps is called the pitch or wicket. A wicket is made up of a grass and clay surface. Most ground have 5 to 7 of these next to each other. To create a pitch to play on the grounds man cut the grass and heaps of other stuff to make it ready to play on. What you pointed to was a pitch that has not been mowed and they let the grass grow. The other lighter one on the right may have already been played on and the grass is growing back ready to be used again. Yes you can hit the batsman. Phil Hugh’s was an Australian batsman who died after being hit in the head by a delivery. He was wearing a helmet at the time. The player was out when the ball hit him on the leg. The umpire believed that the would have hit the stumps. All bowlers regardless of how fast the bowl can put spin on the ball. How they put the spin on it will mean the ball will do something different such as a slower ball (changeup) ball May bounce more off the pitch and so on. A spin bowler 50 miles an hour will make the ball bounce and turn (spin) differently. Cricket played in different formats Test Match which is played up to five days and yes there may not be a winner at the end. 50 over and T 20. T20 is a quick fast pace game. Think of a baseball game being played with only 5 innings a side, pitches were not allowed to warm up between innings, fields were restricted to where they stand to allow more base hits and score, maybe only 2 s tricks and 3 balls for each batsman. Ad the sound and the music of a basketball game or collage football game. Long reply but hope that helps.
The last wicket is called Leg Before Wicket LBW in short if the ball hit you on the pads without touching your bat and the umpire is convinced that it would have hit the stump if not for the legs he can give wicket to the bowler . Malinga is one of the best fast bowler , his action is different that he release the ball from a much lower angle it is harder to defend a ball coming straight as an arrow which gave him the nick name SLINGA
Mate it's not spin bowling, it's fast or pace bowling. The ball curves through the air by an effect called "swing". The fielding team polishes the bowl and keep one side of the bowl shinny and leave the other side rough. So, when the ball is traveling through air fast, air pushes the rough side of the ball in the opposite direction (towards the shiny part). Malinga can swing the ball both ways using this effect, as well as dip the ball in strange ways on the Y-axis, unlike most other bowlers. Combine this with his side-ways bowling action (rotation of the arm) and wits, is basically why he's so effective.
You're not allowed to hit the batsman. No one would want to do that. The batsman gets hit if he can't defend the ball correctly. For example, if the bowler bowls a short ball or a bouncer and the batsman is not able to duck properly to avoid the ball or if the batsman doesn't understand it fast enough, he may get hit in his helmet which might cause head injuries. But bowler intentionally doesn't hit the batsman and he is not allowed to do so as well
@@RahulRaj-qg5yu There is no rule that you cant bowl at a batsman's body. You just have to make sure a full toss is below waist height and a bouncer below shoulder level for the delivery to be legal. Bodyline bowling is frowned upon but not illegal.
Full tosses or yorkers (that is ball does not hit the ground when ball is delivered/bowled) are allowed in cricket. You can aim at the batter so as long as when the ball reaches the batsmen its below the waist line (in the standing position of the batsman). To clarify you cannot throw the ball as you deliver the ball to the striking batsman, it has to be bowled (cricket way of proper bowling). That is arm has to be relatively straight when the bowler delivers a bowl to the striking batsman. A 15 degree bend of the arm is allowed as of 2003 ~ 2005 I believe and is still the current rule. Any greater than that it is deemed a throw i.e illegal action. Other illegal actions as I mention indirectly is a full toss that when the ball reaches the batsman is above the waist line, overstepping the bowlers crease and under arm throws. Bouncers (that is ball hits the ground first and then travel above the waist line) are allowed in cricket. Also I would like to mention faster bowlers don't exactly make the ball spin. Aerodynamics are mostly at play here much like you curve balls in baseball. The slower bowlers impart spin on the ball to make the ball change direction notable players of the past generation are Shane Warne and Muttiah Muralitharan.
The type of grip we make on the seam of the cricket ball, the delivery point of the ball, the area where we throw the ball, the speed variations made in the ball makes changes in the type of ball delivered from our hands... these balls you reacted are called Yorkers.....there are many types of balls like slow ball,off-cutter,leg-cutter,in-swing,out-swing, bouncers, knuckle ball, reverse-swing.etc In spin bowling leg-spin,off-spin, googly,
A bowler can aim for the batsman. So the only rule is that your ball needs to be aimed at the stumps. So it needs to pass the proximity of the stumps. The bowler's aim is obviously to hit the stumps. The bowler does not need to consider the batsman at all. (That's why the batsman are so heavily padded). If the ball is to far away from the stumps, it's a fowl (Called a wide in cricket) and 1 run is automatically added to the batsman. In terms of the ball hitting the batsman, it is definitely allowed. In fact one of the bowling tactics is to bowl 'bouncers' that goes to the batsman's chest and head area to intimidate the batsman. The bowler hopes that the batsman looks away or recklessly uses the bat to accidentally hits the ball for a potential catch.
those patches on the sides are alternative pitch options that just have more grass on and may be prepped for a different fixture. they can also be practice pitches for players.
he isn't a spin bowler, what you may think is "spin" is the ball movement in the air which is called "swing". the players shine up one side of the ball with saliva which makes it easier for air to move past it. this makes the ball move to the non-shine side of the ball. what you see when the ball hits the ground is pitch variation or the ball bouncing off the seam in a weird way.
Our Legend Malinga. He just got his second 4 wicket hat trick. Only player in pro cricket to do it 2 and he is one of 2 people with a 4 wicket hat trick.
Hey bro, just to answer some of your question, @ 1:24 the patches on the left and right are pitches meaning the playing surface, that isn't use that game and might be used for another game because multiple games might be played in a short span of time in that stadium. @ 3:40 you would try to hit the legs/pad to get an out, there is no penalty for hit anywhere else on the body, but is not something you would typically do, cause its consider unsportsmanlike to do. @ 6:10 there all body types that play, however fast bowlers like Malinga is typically taller, which helps with generating speed, which makes Malinga so impressive the he is one of the fastest at his height. And lastly you are right the bounce helps the ball spin to get turn, but like in baseball the grip matter in determine the degree of spin. In Malinga's case his is using a knock ball grip, however the rotations are easier to see because it hits the ground, the lases on the ball, and the camera usually slows the video cause of frame rate and what not. I watch and enjoy a lot of your reactions, keep it up bro.
I live in the USA but I am from Sri Lanka Great video I came upon your Chanel and I saw the video so I clicked on it right away and watched and you have earned another subscribers from me keep the great work up
Malinga can land the ball right infront of the batsmans foot. That is called a "yoker bowl". That's why most batsmen find it difficult to play against his bowls. Also he can bowl yokers with swinging the ball. So his swinging yoker bowls are impossible to play.

He was
Sri Lankan best Fast Bowler 💪💪💪
It is not spin son it is swing. Swinging the ball in the air is an art that needs to be developed with lot of practice. Anyway I like your enthusiasm... another cricket fan is in making!
"Malinga is just over 5' 8" (taller than Harold Larwood, and a lot taller than Fidel Edwards)

In front Arm bowler
If you are right arm fast bowler your right hand will follow left arm which will be in front of batsman but in side Arm bowling your hand will move Frome side of your body
I have never heard of any bowlers called "front arm" or "side arm" before. Malinga would be described as a 'round arm' bowler.

You really missed best deliveries buddy. ❤️
Actually Cricket is Baseball + Physics (Techniques & Presence of Mind) = Cricket, that's why it's gentleman's game
Are you suggesting there is no physics in baseball?
A lot of people said this. My mistake :(
Average American please React on Bumrah bowled top 15 ...he is best bowler
There is spin on the ball but it mostly back spin from the release of the ball. There is no side spin on the ball which would create lateral movement off the pitch. If you had no spin at all you have the equivalent of a knuckle ball baseball pitch of which there are very few if any proponents of to any decent standard in Cricket largely because that rotational drift you can get from a great knuckle ball is negated by the ball bouncing.
@@michaelscott7166 That, in cricket is called "Swinging the ball"

Oh man finally u pick the right guy lol.thanks 👌😘

Shoulder level bouncers are allowed in all forms of cricket mostly 1 per over, sometimes it hurts batters , pitch or the 22 yard plays a povital role because most cricket pitches varies in character ,so understanding the character of the cricket pitch before match, wind direction, weather and other natural factors are important, all over cricket is a complex game that's why most of the well developed countries still lag behind in cricket
Yes he is one of the best..

he is known as Yoker King.
Only americans can have cheeleaders lol🤣🤣🤣🤣
U idiot Americans cheerleader are best in the world
Are you sure about that?

His favourite moment was when the cheerleaders popped up
😂😂😂
Malinga, Bumrah, Starc are the yorker Kings
2:05 is called an inside edge
But bowler intentionally doesn't hit the batsman and he is not allowed to do so as well
Is there a rule stating you can't bowl at the batsman. I thought they just dont do it coz its gentlemens game and they don't want to hit his body
@@RahulRaj-qg5yu There is no rule that you cant bowl at a batsman's body. You just have to make sure a full toss is below waist height and a bouncer below shoulder level for the delivery to be legal. Bodyline bowling is frowned upon but not illegal.
@@BREAKERROX Okay, thanks man, for the info 😊
What fucking game are you watching??? Of course you're allowed to intentionally hit the batsman. It's become a standard part of the modern game.
Do you honestly believe no fast bowler has tried to hit a batsman?
You must react to video like spin vs fast bowling . This will help you to understand the difference.
The type of grip we make on the seam of the cricket ball, the delivery point of the ball, the area where we throw the ball, the speed variations made in the ball makes changes in the type of ball delivered from our hands... these balls you reacted are called Yorkers.....there are many types of balls like slow ball,off-cutter,leg-cutter,in-swing,out-swing, bouncers, knuckle ball, reverse-swing.etc

Just watch this .and say best innings of cricket

Agreed
The bowler hopes that the batsman looks away or recklessly uses the bat to accidentally hits the ball for a potential catch.

he isn't a spin bowler, what you may think is "spin" is the ball movement in the air which is called "swing".
the players shine up one side of the ball with saliva which makes it easier for air to move past it. this makes the ball move to the non-shine side of the ball. what you see when the ball hits the ground is pitch variation or the ball bouncing off the seam in a weird way.
Its refreshing to see an american learning about cricket
Good to see you American go crazy over cricket. Love from Sri Lanka.

Fast bowlers swings the ball... It's not spin
You should have seen his four ball four wicket hat-trick
I live in the USA but I am from Sri Lanka
Great video I came upon your Chanel and I saw the video so I clicked on it right away and watched and you have earned another subscribers from me keep the great work up
Malinga can land the ball right infront of the batsmans foot. That is called a "yoker bowl". That's why most batsmen find it difficult to play against his bowls. Also he can bowl yokers with swinging the ball. So his swinging yoker bowls are impossible to play.
