Dear Paul Your upgrade was quite inspiring 🎉, which encouraged me to do the same, the result was more than satisfying, other than the better look and nicer music coming out of the exhaust, it improved the response out of the engine dramatically due to the reduced back pressure caused by the chocked original exhaust despite removing the fuse, my Jackie now accelerate much quicker and far much smoother. So thanks very much.
Really enjoyed the detail you applied to your video. I have a 2007 XK 4.2 with 22,000 miles. Love the looks and performance. Have owned 3 XKE's, 2 XJS' and 1 F type coupe. I will be performing the exhaust swap that you performed so well! Thank You, James King Olathe, Kansas
@life_on_cars The report from the shop is that some fuses connected to my starter motor were bad as well as a sensor/thermometer that is giving me an engine overheating display on my message board.
I've watched the 3 videos multiple times now. And you asked me on Insta if I wanted to do it too. YES, I'm doing it too. The diffuser has already been ordered and I have already been in contact with a seller of a used xkr exhaust. The German TüV is just not allowed to take a close look every 2 years 😉 'll get back to you if I have any questions... It's your own fault 😂😂😂 Greetings from Germany, Joachim
I had to have two new clamps as the bodies had started to crack and it was an mot essential job. They were ceased on?? My garage chap didn’t enjoy that particular job!!!
Really interesting to see what is involved, a good opportunity to clean the subframe, and a great result on the heatshield. What happens with the exhaust valves? Are they held in an open position somehow?
Have you thought of having any rust treatment to the sub frame? I had a dinitrol treatment done by an undersealing firm. As i live close to the sea i felt it was a good thing to do. Plus he did a fab job.
I will have to check with my local jag dealer the price they are doing on a heat shield, at that price I will definately fit a new one. Whats the bet they are more expensive!! Might have to have a road trip to pick one upfrom your spares supplier if need be!! lol when i take mine off and take the nuts off, i will use a rotary wire bush on my drill and clean them up then apply some grease the same as you have. I see your underneath looks as ratty as mine does, with the subfram off i will probably get some marine clean and silver por-15 and coat that area to protect it.
Should have taken the old exhaust out from the cats and delete the back box., straight from the cats with a Quicksilver stainless exhaust... awesome sound. As mine is.
Thanks for the 3 videos. I just bought an XKR back box to upgrade my '09 XK. The videos were of great help.
Great 😊
Your face on start up said it all
Orgasmic is the word you're looking for.
Nice clear procedure for removal of the backbox. The smile of satisfaction as the cat growls.😁
I was slightly worried it was going to be too loud but today's run out it sounded purr...fect lol

Great to hear you had a successful swap. Makes a huge difference doesn't it
Great Job, looking & sounding cool, keep the videos coming 👍
Thanks man

Thanks for the great feedback I really appreciate it. Exhaust swap has made the car so much more enjoyable you won't regret it.
I also have a 07XK 95k miles...first car, having electrical demons right now, but definitely like the car
@anthonychristian3722 you might already know this but battery make sure battery is fully charged

@life_on_cars like I mentioned, this is my first car, so I'm trying to learn as much as possible.
Sounds lovely, definitely a job well done. The smile says it all. Thoroughly enjoying the videos. Keep up the good work.
Thanks 😊

Good luck 👍
Great clip👍
Well done. Am inspired to try this. cheers
Good luck 👍
PB Blaster (spray) in the US helps with removing rusty bolts and nuts. Let them sit overnight and they will break loose much easier.
Great video I’ve just recently subscribed but I’m interested to know we’re did you get the xkr exhaust ? It looked like a used part ?
Hello thanks for subscribing, buddy. Yes it was a used one I found online auction site.
Nice mod mate,well done 👍
Cheers Buddy

Hi Adrian check out my other video about locking the valves open
@@life_on_cars Cheers, just seen the other video 👍
Hi Paul! Do the 2 red suspensions / hangers / silencer inevitably break when removed? Best regards, Joachim
Hi yes, its best to replace them as mine were old and they split open
Can you please send me the part number if you have time. I can't find them and I don't want to order the wrong ones. Thanks very much!

Thank you Paul!!! 😊👍🙏
Any tips on where to source the back box? I’ve always fancied improving the exhaust note but didn’t want to ruin the motorway cruise noise.
I set up an alert on ebay and also searched for "breaking XKR" found a few which were too expensive but eventually found one at the right price 👍
@@life_on_cars Thanks, don’t seem to be many about at the moment.

Hi, yes I've wax oiled my subframe
@@life_on_cars what's the best battery to get for a 2011 XKR. I think mine may need replacing . What battery would you suggest?
@@johncrocker1019 Yuasa. I swear by them. Fantastic battery with 5 year guarantee. Halfords
@@life_on_cars excellent thanks 👍
What amp 90 ,100 or 110.
Good job.
Thanks for watching 👍
Noticed that ypu don't have a rear heat shield above the rear exhaust box on this video, did you take it off or not on in your ownership?
Hi if you watch all the episodes you will see I replace it. Yes it's missing. Must have been removed by previous owner. Thanks for watching 👍

Sounds like a good project 👌
I fancy doing similar on my 5.0 if I find a reasonably priced back box
Yes you can do the same but would need 5.0 XKR box
@6:06 literally my current problem. Got the nuts off easy, the rubber hangers were all shot to shit so will need new ones, but pipes stuuuuck on.
@@lakespeed it will go ! Give it a whack 😄
