I thought the turbo muffler is just a mod to the standard baffled muffler designed to improve airflow and (completely by accident) and to not cut the sound of turbine so much. Guess I was wrong.
@@howacarworks There's a lot of things people sell as "turbo" mufflers, but it'd seem like that phrase is used more for non chambered fiberglass packed straight through or multi pass mufflers. You kept calling the chambered muffler a turbo muffler and it was kinda confusing. To me the resonator you have is more of a "turbo muffler" than that thing.

I think your videos are absolutely spot on and agree that these should set the standard for the next 10 years. I was very close to buying the full series but unfortunately I’m not convinced I’ll pick up anything highly beneficial for an intermediate DIY mechanic. I would definitely be bought in however if there were videos covering diagnostics (e.g. PWM, fuel trims, ignition timing, voltage drop testing, CAN bus/MOST/LIN networks, control module anaysis, etc.) and not so much focus on how things work. Certainly knowing this helps one infer how to fix things diagnostically but it’s not the complete picture. For beginners however I think the video course would be useful. I hope you add some advanced courses soon!!
Free Idea !! - First touch of that grinder on the metal surface with Sparks flying - in super slow mo for like 5 seconds, and with the music ( like when you're were goin up that ladder). Pure epicness. Also, you could get ready with your gloves and masks in style , like they get ready in the superhero movies , (with some epic music) lol
Thank you for your thorough explanation! I got from thinking that the muffler was nothing but a hollow tube to knowing the ingenuity that goes on inside of it.
Super video. Very detailed and depth of knowledge. I never new the engineering behind the silencer until I watched this video. The sound effects at the initial of this video was too good. Thank you Sir.
i been thinking a long while about adding little eighth inch plates on my diamond fluted barrel, then slotting out the concentric heads. allowing gas port ventilators and reducing back pressure on my gas system. then along the top dimond heads id leave as a whole barrel and reverse the plate configurations. its a lot of high carbon steel fissure welding so the plates expand and contract as the barrel does. then fit a contracting aluminum sleeve with a heat resistant fiberglass in it, with a .2mm fluting from front chamber to end chamber threw the fiberglass. then a chromium container over it all. hell i already have a custom gas tube stabilizer which is a high flow fuel rail grommet on the space shuttle, and ive also skeletonized the stock and buffer tubes and replaced the buffer with a hydrolic shock. where the stock itself is linned with industrial rubber concrete to increase structural rebound then filled it with oxidized foam for balance and stability actually reducing the cqr stock weight by 8.2oz when it was 16.8. and you might ask, why do all that to a rifle. a rifle is just a rifle. but its not just a rifle, its my rifle. and technically anything over 3400fps mv is a rail gun. as i think doing something like this to the barrel wouldnt just reduce the noise from needing double hearing protections, but it also might aid the flow of chamber cycles.
but then again, that is just thinking. cost too much to replace the custom barrel. r48 stainless with custom thread, chromium linned, and diamond flutted... even tho i know it would be beneficial to reduce the noise and help the gasses flow better. where if i knew the end result of the mv pressures and how it would affect the projectile threading... i also dont want to break a good thing. .perhaps if i had an extra i might try it out and see how it goes then after evaluations and testings to build another properly. but there are still things on this build that are unfinished for over a year now due to covid delays ect. :(
I know I'm a bit late but, gloves would be a good idea. I don't need a wrench for my grinder because I have welding gloves. Top notch evaluation and explanation.
Dear surely you are an engineer, I congratulate you for your masterful explanation of the muffler mechanism. I am studying how to make a muffler for my Explorer V8 that relieves the gases but is silent. Thank you very much Hug
