@@harverc229 Yes sir, as a cook I resent having to go back to wash the dishes, although it is part of the job. Dishwashers are the reason us cooks can do our jobs as efficiently as we do. The backbone of the kitchen. If they're hungry, I don't hesitate to treat them.

@@kevinsteel7875 I used to be a dishwasher a few years back I think during my senior year of high school. I feel the cooks though. The fact that you can last for a very long time and getting risks from getting scars from oil to having a rare change of losing your hand from fire is damn insane and impressive. I respect you of all people. However it doesn’t mean some can get a pass to be bossy just because they are the harder workers. I remember they treated me like shit from talking shit to actually being bossy. When I meant bossy,I meant they literally give me tasks. A lots of times on purpose. In fact they make me do things for them than even the manager. Not to mention they bring cooking equipments that looked like it was already released from the fishing machine while smirking. During delivery day,I have to organize the freezer with the boxes and store food products by myself while those guys were just on their phones. As a result by the time I finish storing stuffs,I would see pile of dishes stacked on the table. Whenever we have to clean the floor Matts. They want me to clean their Matt’s too sometimes I have to clean their floors after they leave. They leave earlier than me. They even hold my check and threaten to send me home which only the manager deals with. Lastly I asked them to cook me some food but they will either pretend to make it and never do it or simply say no instantly and this was during slow days. I Didn’t bother asking them for food so I had brought my lunch from home. Guess what? they would get mad and tell me to eat it at home cause I got chores to do. For those reasons I got careless and brought dirty dishes just to f#%* with them. Only one cook who I at least trusted made my food. I work in the mornings to to 4 but this guys arrives at 5 or 6 from his first job but that day he arrived earlier. Since the morning cooks leave earlier than me at 3 I ate my food peacefully and when I was eating the asshole who hold my check came back to the restaurant and told me that I am fired because I keep clocking out late and the fact I got food without his permission. I told him that you keep giving me too much tasks that half of those tasks the cooks could’ve done themselves and the fact you are abusing and starving an employee. He forced me to throw it away so guess what I smashed food right across his face so we fought. With all my rage I had him pinned down. Of course I got fired after that but the guy kept his job really!? I was young so I didn’t know how to sue him or the restaurant so it’s too late to file a lawsuit. To this day I never came back to the restaurant not even to dine in. Sorry if it offended you. Just saying they are a Lot of people who are like this in the food industry.

@@DanOldMan thats why everything is clean, even the trash and floor. the trash is only stuff u just threw away and isnt left to rot and he touched the bag. floors are always cleaned (hopefully). sometimes rags have bleach water. commercial eggs are usually safer than consumer eggs. unfortunately during crunch time there isnt time to be extra careful, so keeping everything clean is the best next thing

It's not easy to walk away from your station in ihop reason why they need to make bigger ihops and higher more ppl for eggs and pancakes I've worked there for some years and I can tell you that it's not easy at all to have to run off and wash your hands when you have to run off and grab more eggs and make more batter for the pancakes and other essentials

People don’t understand how fast you have to be to work on the line. I was a line cook for 2 years while I was going to culinary school and then a chef for 9. If you work in a faced paced kitchen you are literally on your feet back and forth for 10-16 hours. No break! I was sometimes working 80-100 hours a week. Only the strong survive In a kitchen and this is coming from someone who’s retired also from the Marine Corps. Working in a kitchen is not for the faint hearted. I’ve seen new guys legit just walk off the line and quit because they can’t handle the pace and the tickets won’t stop coming in. I’ve seen people have legit breakdowns. So I give props to anyone who works in a restaurant especially the kitchen. They are so under appreciated.

Ya know, a lot of shit about these jobs frustrate me, but one of the things I love is that there really is almost a dance when everyone gets into the swing of it. It's almost a natural human instinct. Like the awareness and movement of everyone on the line just becomes almost supernaturally synchronized if you've worked together for a while and that's kinda neat. This also makes me miss the guys at my old job a lot 😭 I keep bumping into people even if I say 'hot pan' or 'swing' because they're not used to me being there.
