I’d forgotten how frustratingly slow Weepu was in clearing the ball.

This game was the first rumblings from the green machine that would go on to become the All Blacks' bete noire. They got rogered 60-0 the following week and 48-14 at last year's World Cup, but were an almighty PITA in between those years.

if it were being played anywhere else then a draw would probably have been the best result, but seeing as it was the first game in christchurch (if i recall correctly) after the earthquakes, i think the narrow loss didnt sting quite as much as other times
Did the ABS pump ireland to win by 40+ points the next week? sorry was wrong it was 60 nil, the game before this one was 42 to 10. it was a 3 match tour, final score for the tour was 124 to 29, I think it was one of the most successful irish tours of New Zealand?

Sometimes Ronan o garas attitude really confused me, like, for the final kick off, he should’ve paused a bit, made sure all his players had their timing correct, and then sent the restart as high as all possible into the air.. what he did instead was lazy

@@odhranlawless-quinn1113 it was the final play regardless, and the most important thing was getting the ball back - NOT making the kickoff happen as quick as possible. But I hear your point - ROG probably didnt know it was the final play

@wildebest thats the law though, water carriers etc, should know not to have the kicking tee in view when coming on to the pitch, learned the hard way when i had to kick at goal from 15m inside my own half in an under 17s game. some refs are lenient with it but technically if the tee is on the pitch its signalling a kick at goal
@wildebest Law 8.20 If the team indicates to the referee the intention to kick at goal, they must kick at goal. The intention to kick can be communicated to the referee or signalled by the arrival of the kicking tee or sand, or when the player makes a mark on the ground.
