  • Mike Tyson's new interview on FOX News about his fight with Jake Paul is pretty interesting. Mike Tyson says that he is faster than Jake Paul from his leaked 1-second training videos. The great thing is that Tyson from this Fox News interview is that he is taking this seriously and training properly for their upcoming fight. Iron Mike is still one of the best heavyweight boxers of all time but Jake Paul could still land a knockout punch and bring him down.

I'm the best ever. I'm the most brutal and vicious and most ruthless champion there's ever been, there's no one can stop me. Lennox is a conqueror? No, I'm Alexander he's no Alexander. I'm the best ever. There's never been anybody as ruthless. I'm Sonny Liston, I'm Jack Dempsey, there's no one like-I'm from their cloth. There's no one that can match me. My style is impetuous, my defense is impregnable, and I'm just ferocious. I want your heart, I want to eat his children. "Praise be to Allah"!

I love listening to your analysis. I find it very honest and very interesting. I am biased towards Mike Tyson because I love his style. Shear power. He has been a hero of mine ever since I was a little kid. He represents to me that 80's magic and nostalgia. Jake Paul I have to say I respect that he trains so hard and decided he wanted to be a boxer and all that but personally I feel like Tyson is going to pound him so hard that he may quit boxing altogether. I think it could be a Michael Spinks event. Pow Pow it's over. Ding ding ding.

Every boxing commentator is gonna eat crow July 20. Speed is not only measured in punches speed but reaction time as well. I am gonna make the assumption that Tysons reaction time to punches and hand speed is better then Jakes. Anyone who has fought knows what I mean. I would rather have a good reaction time to slip then raw punch speed on any single day. Jus sayin

This fight, regardless of outcome, does not tarnish the history of Iron Mike's impact on a generation. Nothing will change that. If he wins, which I believe he can, it will only further his impact. In the Roy Jones exhibition, I believe he saw that he hurt Jones early, and carried him the rest of the fight. If he does that here, it will not wim him the younger generation, not that he needs it. That's the only negative. There's this concern about Mike being seriously hurt because he's older. While that is a concern, it's also a concern for any fighter, at any time in their career. Boxing IS dangerous at any age. I respect Mike for getting in there.

    • @CID5202
      @CID5202 Місяць тому +1

Sadly in the eyes of the younger generation, he will never be viewed as the same... we will always know how great he is, but either way this fight goes his legacy will be tarnished. There's no possible way Mike gets out unscathed even if he wins, and once you hurt a god he becomes a lot less intimidating.

It's genuinely embarrassing to watch. I loved and looked up to Bill Nye as a child, then I met him in person and was shocked that he was an ass and never looked at him the same. Similar principle here - the only real fight this next generation will see is this one... and it's at best a shadow of what he's been capable of even if you know he was once great.

he IS. I understand age can be a factor at times, but I keep getting the feeling some of you are discrediting
Tyson because of age. Tony Jefferies and Jake Paul have been TAUGHT to box. Mike Tyson IS a boxer. He can
do NOTHING else. George Foreman IS a boxer. Michael Jordan IS a basketball player. Thats why these came back
when others COULDN'T at certain ages. Don't get hung up on "prime"...these men were still DANGEROUS. Its

I’d agree about heart- but heart is also seen as part of durability (the mental toughness to keep going after getting hurt). But it’s important to note, As you get older, your injuries don’t fade fast like they used to, he cannot afford to make mistakes in the ring as he won’t recover during the breaks between rounds as quickly. Peakaboo is also dependent heavily on athleticism, he is no where near his prime. Mike is no longer iron mike in his body, but may be iron mike in his mind.
      woul
But I do agree that his heart will definitely be one of the things that keeps him going.

On the stiffness aspect you mentioned in the video, I've been doing yoga everyday for 10 years. I'm now 45, and I genuinely don't feel any different in my body from my late 20's. Yoga to me, is thee best form of exercise you can do, especially when you do it really fast. Watching an aging Ryan Giggs got me interested in it. I bought his DVD, then attended some classes. I love it! And it's an amazing stress and tension reliever.

Mike should be straight up and say its for the money. If its toe to toe Mike has a good chance. If Paul runs around the ring for rhe first few rounds Mike will wear out fast. Paul has the legs for that, Mike not so much. Mike could make money in 100 different ways, he didn't have to do this.

When Mike Tyson says that he’s getting more confident with each day the fight gets closer, it reminds me of a quote he said when he was younger, when he was talking about each step closer he gets to the ring the more confident he becomes and when he’s in the ring he’s a god. Really shows how Tyson is still iron Mike deep down, the killer, the animal, the beast. I hope iron Mike walks into the ring without a robe or socks, and shows that he’s still a vicious and ferocious fighter.

It started well, but as they go to heavier gloves and 1 minute rounds it ruined it for me (and many). No more skill, just a one minute sprint slugfest. If you're not gonna show some moves in there, why box?! lol

Its an official fight now: "MVP and Holden Boxing announced on April 29 that the heavyweight boxing mega-event will officially be a professional fight, sanctioned by Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations (TDLR). The matchup will be contested over eight two-minute rounds with 14-ounce gloves and no headgear." (from Netflix)
CBSSports: "The fight will also be an official, sanctioned bout by the Texas commission. The fight will be eight, two-minute rounds with slightly larger gloves than normal."

This might sound silly, but I would have preferred if Mike did training for at least 8 months and then did a 4 month fight camp to bring it all together, just so he can put on the best show possible. From my understanding fight camps are usually for fighters who have a good foundation of fitness and technique already. Yes he has the technique from his many years with Cus and after, but he hasn't been consistent with keeping fit and sparring like he was back in the day. But then again Iron Mike is a genetic anomaly so maybe his ring rust is nonexistent!

You're not wrong. One detail I would add is that i think Bruce Lee was right about speed being dictated more by tendon strength (maximum isometric training) moreso than age or size. I was lucky enough to train like that when I was young, and I'm grateful to say that even old and fat I'm still quick enough it's noticeable to people I train with.

Once you have it in your system you can use the mindset change to focus instead of thinking of nothing but food and laughing.(Ofc, if its strong weed and anyone takes a bong rip right before fighting there may be some funny moments but nothing like you think if you do not smoke)

Tony, I admire anybody who has the bollocks to get inside a professional boxing ring. Not only would i fear getting seriously hurt, like permanent brain damage, but the humiliation aspect of being knocked out cold, in front of thousands of people in the arena, and the millions of people watching at home. I spoke online with the great Sugar Ray Leonard, and he told me that getting over the fear, just comes with experience. If I didn't know leonard was an ex world champion, i would never have believed it, cos he's such a nice guy. really placid. Like 2 people in 1. lol
