Wow is there no end to this man’s talents that’s a super job you’ve made a great radio even greater I like the black front it really pops a great video top man
ah great memories ! used to mod these when i was a kid ,learning electronics ,i was already successfully repairing tvs, videos and arcade machines but didnt really know what i was doing for along time with these ,i always had issues with loss of vco lock when band expanded , took me ages to realise i needed to fit varicap diode across vco coil and ladder step the bias with decreasing band after a retune and i was programming eproms with a home made setup of a channel switch a 555 timer (prog pulse) and toggle switches! one mistake and wipe n start over! needless to say i didnt have a spectrum analiser back then!
Absolutely superb, i wanted this done to my Mk2 Cobra but was told I would lose FM, so ended up getting its tuned to perfection and just changed the display to blue numbers, id still like to get it done tho but having forked out a fortune getting the radio back to factory standard ill need to wait
@@jackjones-er1ts basic install starts from 100gbp ,mk2 only for the moment , from a working radio , any other work needed will be charged accordingly.
I have no idea what DDS is... Is it something to do with digital electronics? I ask because when I saw the Cobra 148 GTL for the first time it is Am and SSB and my first imoression that that is analogue technology. I am not sure, even though I followed some courses at college on digital electronics, the course is called Logic 1, my thought is that I should get a better understanding of analogue before diving deep into the digital modes. Nevertheless, thank you for making this video available! it is always a pleasing to see the Cobra 148 GTL mobile CB radio!!! Thank you MicroChipz! 😀😀😀🐵🦍🍀🌍🚎🚑🚂🕒👓®🏁👍
Great conversion mate. A credit to you and Chris on your knowledge and between you taking it to another level..
Spot on guys.
Much appreciated!

Nice, thanks.
Outstanding work and fantastic results well done on this conversion
Thank you.
Fascinating.
Thanks

Thats where this one is different , we keep FM.
@@MicroChipz yip, if yous are doing these in the future id like to send mines down further down the line to have it done 👍🏻
No problem my email is in the channel info
@@MicroChipz cheers buddy 👍🏻
That is awesome I would love one of mine done like that. Enjoyed the vid bud
Glad you enjoyed
47:20 Has the new facia got some white specks on it or is it just bits of dust? 🤔 Just above the RB switch, for example.
Yeh just dust
fantastic job well done. how much does it cost to have this done to a 148 or 360fm?
Basic install starts from 100GBP
@@MicroChipz so how much would the DDS conversion cost on a 360fm?

Very Interested in doing this conversation. Where can I get the parts and PCB?
Kits are not available yet.
You do very nice work.... but an SI5351 is not a DDS it's PLL based. A DDS uses a DAC to create the final waveform.
Thanks for pointing that out , never occurred to me , I think the term DDs is used loosely to describe these type of applications .
