@@BlenderTutor General overview would be nice, thank you. I always postponed learning particle and hair systems because Blender devs keep promising node-based particle systems, but now I am not sure how long we'll have to wait. Might as well get familiar with the current system
I have particle hair I downloaded online is there a way can you do a tutorial on how I could transfer that particle hair which still has the ability to particle edit to the scalp of a character that I will separate from the character if you do the tutorial???... It's nice particle here that I downloaded and the reason why I ask is then I would have a template that I could apply to any character and just put it on there no issues and then just particle edited with the comb brush... I like her moving mouse clicks from my workflow... this channel rocks
Fantastic tutorial, I decimated my david first to help with viewport performance, but had lots of fun playing with his hair. I guess I need to start an instagram now too eh?
If you're ever having trouble grooming in this tutorial or otherwise really make sure your segments are at 10 otherwise the puff brush won't work perfect
Love it! But my computer can't handle it hahaha. Tried to bake the simulation and it crashes every time. I guess simulating dynamics on 400,000 hairs was too much.
Thank you so much for the amazing tutorial! One of the best I’ve ever seen, so helpful. I’m so grateful for your expertise! If my vellus and beard particle hair are sinking under the head mesh with certain facial poses, how can I make the can stay on top of the head mesh?
It could be because you don't have enough segments on the hair particles. I would maybe add more and see if that helps, and if not, try to turn up the collision quality in the particle system. The last place I could think to check is the collision settings in the particle tab, though that probably isn't the issue.
Hey, what if we have two different particle system ? And we want to be colliding with each other? Like one is for the frizz and one is for the main hair?
Hi, i would like to know if we can slow down the hair simulation like in cloth simulation where you have speed setting? because I want to do slow motion animation with dynamic hair
hi i followed your steps but when i click on 'hair' like you did on 1.21 the hair didnt appear in solid mode ,but it does appear in render do u know whats wrong?
Hello. I do have a question. When I applied the hair modifier on my own character, I noticed her hair remained black despite when you changed it to blue. How would you enable the hair color display?
Thank you very much for the tutorial, can you tell me why my hair simulation ends in 250 frames, when I have it set to 1000? I can't solve it, and there is no much info, thanks a lot!
Hey thanks for a great tutorial ! I have a question tho. May I ask you if you plan on doing a specific tutorial for hair dynamics in blender. I simply am not able to get good hair self collisions in blender no matter how much i play with settings. They always seem to interpenetrate. I would like to get a result like the one from the start of your video.
no matter what i do with my hair seem it seems to chatter from frame to frame when my character is in motion. I have optix on, modifier stack, and turn off 'close tip' off. It's still just chattering. Driving me up the wall. My first creature animation ever.
I have hair on an object with a wind force field. It grows (more like explodes) to extreme lengths when I scrub through the timeline. This is true even after baking. The other issue is when I go to particle edit mode, the hair is shown as extremely long, going off the edges of the screen, even though it is short in the main viewport. When I cut the hair and then go back to Object Mode, the hair is now mostly gone. Any ideas what is going on? Blender 2.93.1
True! I didn't want to reduce the resolution of the model too much more to avoid losing detail, but I could have had a duplicate head just for the hair that was WAY lower resolution just for the hair animation, then hide it during render.
For some reason after caching my hair sim, the hair starts to puff out away from the mesh before the source mesh even moves. Then when the model does move, most of the hair stays in place but stretches out. I tried adjusting the collision settings but that doesnt seem to improve anything. Anyone else having this problem?
I'm finding it hard for me to make the hair not phase through the object. I did everything in this tutorial but the hair will keep going into the mesh and leave bald spots.
Nice tutor. But I am new to hair animation, so here is a little question. You use hair dynamic with particle system, while others use bone rigging with hair(like this: ua-cam.com/video/gTdRGZA4TXA/v-deo.html). I wonder when to use bone rigging or not for hair modeling, especially for blender? (I want to make an animation with long hair with a hairpin, and then the hairpin is taken off while pinned hair would be dropped by gravity)
@@BlenderTutor wow thanks! I got i5 7th and 8gig ram gtx 1050ti. I think I should upgrade to get a good quality. Anyways thanks again I love your videos!

will this work in unity? for a game?
Is there a way to prevent the initial bounce? I cant seem to find an option so it starts static, then calculate the physics. Thanks!
