Walking out of empire road and seeing that huge pub on a friday night shame it fell into the state towards the end Funny how all of our pub culture is now just food.
My Dad lived in the Mallard when it was a farm house in the 40's. Just carrying on his tradition, he was born in the Shakespeare when that was a farm house. I think Leicester Corporation owned them.
Anyone remember the Market Tavern, Market Place? real spit n' sawdust establishment. It was THE place for the refined gentleman to frequent, before heading off to Bailey's, pissed as a fart....
@@Kevvys Me and the wife was in there, not long after new owners took over. I ask why the name of Last Straw. He told me with all the problems he had with opening. The flap to enter on the bar to go in/out would not fit, he said to his wife that's the Last straw, and so the name. This was many years ago in the 80's. All the best, terry
