I'm really enthusiastic about "light spikes, light touch"! Yes!!! I learn so much throwing wooden bo shuriken that I made by myself!!! Just as you said! Hope you the best! Keep on!
Thank you for the tip with the yellow glasses! I tried mine that I bought for mountain biking and it works with the computer screen. It's kind of relaxing the eyes.
Great video Colette! always love your instructional videos! although I must say that I am able to throw half-spin from 5 feet up to 40 feet so half-spin does not have to be limited to a particular distance.

Thanks for the explanation of the different types of throwing. I had been confused with the no spin style for a long time. I would like to ask you if you can make a balisong throwing video. The others I found were more like lucky guessing. If you could explain it, that would be great. Thank you

I have some small throwing spikes. I'm pretty good up close, but haven't had much success from farther away. Thanks for the tips. I've never tried to throw from the point.
Yeah, those small spikes can be difficult to throw. I had a set of cheap ones when I was young and I was never good at throwing them until I understood no spin. Hope my video helps out!

I've just started my knife throwing career I don't have proper pro tools as in the correct throwing utensils at present but I am looking to purchase some real soon I am throwing inside at the moment I have neighbours and knife throwing if it doesn't stick can be very very noisy I know nothing about shuriken your throwing spikes but this video is cool as are the rest of you're videos at the moment I have learned some of the military half turn technique I can throw from far back and get it to stick just by placing my thumb higher up the knife with military half spin but ultimately what I would love to master is the non spin distance knife throwing that would be very impressive on my part and something to learn to master . Stay blessed from the UK ...PEACE
This is an amazing video. It's a really good refresher video! Question, would be making a no-spin video for knives? I understand that you can't no-spin throw a knife like a spike, and I've definitely tried plenty of ways to no-spin my knives (I have, in particular, cold steel sure flight sport) but I can't get them to stick. Thanks!
Armando Villa-Ignacio In the near future, I'm thinking of doing a Fedin How-to, but it might evolve to the 3 different no spin techniques. We'll see! For the Sure Flight Sport, try throwing from 2 meters away (at an angle to avoid direct ricochetrs). Ralph Thorn's method of no spin should work best. You can also check out his Combat Knife Throwing DVD and his RalphThornSchool UA-cam channel. Hope that helps!
I was throwing today and I was landing a few no spins...the further I got though, I was having issues getting it to stick. Also, I joined that Facebook page (IKT) and it has a whole bunch of great resources. Thanks for the recommendation on that Facebook page!
Armando Villa-Ignacio Excellent! Feel free to add me... you can find me in the members. And be sure to post some photos and/or videos. Everyone is willing to give advice if you ask. I get issues getting them to stick past about 4 - 5 meters. But some of the guys can get up to 7 meters.
for the instinctive half throw/ blade throw, how would you grip the knife? Would you hold it like a normal half spin, or just do a no spin but inverted? I feel like the second would cut your hand, but I don’t really see how the first would work. Controlling the rotation of the knife itself seems quite foreign, or at least something that I need a lot of work on. Nonetheless, great video! On my way to part 2!
Kevin Liu No cutting of the hand if the blade isn't sharp. For a half spin, I just hold the back of the knife by the blade. If it's double-edged, then that'd be difficult to do if the knife was sharp. But most throwing knives aren't sharp. Hope the 2nd part helped you how to control the rotation...once you understand the trajectory of a knife during a no-spin throw... it's not that difficult to make the necessary changes to get it to stick. :)
Rahul Seoparsan In my opinion, I don't think so. The spike only leaves a small hole, but a knife will leave s thin gash. It doesn't hurt to try though!

If you add jagged paracord to the end of the spike it balances it in the air and it flies allmost straight.
