  • In this video I throw three unique traditional bo-shurikens.
These are NOT modern throwing spikes!
Each one of them has their own unique historical background which Matthias Bind (the owner of bo-shuriken.org) knows all about. Feel free to approach him and ask for details and their history. He is also in Facebook.
I also speak about how to throw these fine throwing spikes. If you can control them you can handle almost any pointy object!
    MSR bo-shuriken
The length (19 cm) makes it easier to throw and more suitable for longer distances. It weighs only 55 grams. Other specs here:
    www.bo-shurike...
MSR comes from the words Meifu Shinkafu Ryu which is a modern school of Shurikenjutsu. Check out this video about it:
    • 【NINJYA】MEIFU SHINKAGE...
Jonas Mäntykoski’s needle no spins (mentioned in the vid)
    • Needle throwing
    SHINGETSU RYU bo-shuriken
    19 cm
    50 grams
    round shape
    high carbon steel
    OCTAGON PEN bo-shuriken
    Made with traditional specs:
    ~175-180 x ~8 mm
    ~60 grams
    D2 Steel
    nearly centerbalanced

Excellent explanation of the concepts and the mechanism behind the throws. You got me inspired to practice needle-throwing again.

They're so much harder than a knife. After about a 20 minutes I finally got a few no-spin. Fun though, gonna keep it up. You're so right, you cannot make any mistakes.

Cool video. I learned to throw them as a kid. Its very true that if you can learn this you can throw anything pointy. Big thing is practice...dont give up...youll get it

Im curious about two things. How much do your bo-shurikens weigh? And also what type of wood do you use for your throwing wall? Thanks for the video this is good stuff.

Yes. It helps you dial in the coordination, alignment, rhythm and timing of your structure as you throw.

I am practicing your technique (thank you for your videos) with Bo-shuriken from the French smith and thrower "Lanceur de l'âme". Maybe you could be interested and you could give us your opinion about them for our wave technique.

All I can say is my hip pain vanished when I started sitting in burmese meditation posture (google it) for 15 mins straight per each session. Sessions per week 3-4.

What object to start training, bo shuriken or knife style?

    • @joelholopainen6865
      @joelholopainen6865  Рік тому +1

Definitely a knife. At least 250 gram knife for a beginner.
