CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Just when Elliot (Henry Thomas) thinks that E.T. has died, he suddenly sees the flowers bloom and rushes back to a revived E.T.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Both a classic movie for kids and a remarkable portrait of childhood, E.T. is a sci-fi adventure that captures that strange moment in youth when the world is a place of mysterious possibilities (some wonderful, some awful), and the universe seems somehow separate from the one inhabited by grown-ups. Henry Thomas plays Elliott, a young boy living with his single mother (Dee Wallace), his older brother Michael (Robert MacNaughton), and his younger sister Gertie (Drew Barrymore). Elliott often seems lonely and out of sorts, lost in his own world. One day, while looking for something in the back yard, he senses something mysterious in the woods watching him. And he's right: an alien spacecraft on a scientific mission mistakenly left behind an aging botanist who isn't sure how to get home. Eventually Elliott puts his fears aside and makes contact with the "little squashy guy," perhaps the least threatening alien invader ever to hit a movie screen. As Elliott tries to keep the alien under wraps and help him figure out a way to get home, he discovers that the creature can communicate with him telepathically. Soon they begin to learn from each other, and Elliott becomes braver and less threatened by life. E.T. rigs up a communication device from junk he finds around the house, but no one knows if he'll be rescued before a group of government scientists gets hold of him. In 2002, Steven Spielberg re-released E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial in a revised edition, with several deleted scenes restored and digitally refurbished special effects.

Age has nothing to do with this film in the UK being if I do remember pg.

Young very young middle age or old still love this classic.

Always forever a true classic family master piece film.
Man I still want a flying B M X.

When e.t. ,,dies'' I was crying and I don't wanted to be happy.
The part when E.T won't shut up kills me XD

@@trinitylivingston1286 Great scene that!
I remember E.T never scared me when I was little, but the men who invaded the family's house did
Disney Girrl12 SAME. I would always get upset when I saw the spacesuits. Idk why but they scared me so much
Same creepyyyy
The 2019 commercial brought me here
Disney Girrl12
I was always scared of him when I was a child, but now he cute!
Well, they walk in like zombies, so that part was scary.
The single greatest VHS moment of my childhood.
"You must be dead.... cause I don't know how to feel. I can't feel anything anymore." That line really tore me apart tonight. They had it on TV for being the 30th year anniversary and I haven't watched this entire movie from beginning to end since I was a kid. It just filled my heart right up.
Ouch 😢
I'm here writing on your comment 10 years later to let you know I also haven't watched it since I was a kid, and that line hit me hard.
@@liamstark795 really such a great film. it fills my heart right up
I saw this movie for the first time when it came out in the theaters when I was a boy about the same age as Elliott is supposed to be. My Mom liked it so much that she took me and my brother to see it again a few weeks later. Watching this movie last night for the first time in years made me feel like losing my Mom again and I totally cried my eyes out. What I would give to watch it with her again.
@@stever7157 what a beautiful memory to share with your mom ♥️ it’s wonderful when we can find movies, songs or a piece of art to bond with loved ones over. My mom saw Willow in theaters when she was pregnant with me and now that movie has a really special place in my family!
The part when the older brother jumps for joy and bangs his head makes me crack up every time I see it!!!
Yeah that's funny 😄
Me too
😂
Tonimarie Mohs me too
I cry and laugh at the same time at that part.
*opens lid* ET PHONE HOOOOOOOME!'
Gets me every time!
😂😂😂
I think he says ‘I’ll believe in you all my life. Everyday.” because he knows that people are going to try and convince him as he gets older that none of it was real, that all of it was a story. He’s making a promise to remember him.
That part where E.T. kept going: "Phone! Phone! Phone!" always made me laugh. Elliot is trying to get him out of there, and he won't shut his trap.
Et phone home et phone home eliot eliot
SAME
Et can breath under neath the bag even when Eliot closed it, because he can breath under water, he is magical
And Elliot's fake crying afterwards is the icing on the cake! 😂
I was 12yrs old when this movie came out.
I was it with my mom in a ABSOLUTELY sold-out, PACKED theater. When he said: "E.T. PHONE, HOOOME!!"
The audience LOST IT!! CHEERING, LAUGHING, APPLAUDING!!!
It was great!!!😃
When michael hits his head😂
The fake crying always had me wheezing. 😂
Elliot pretending to be sad and crying with the joyful soundtrack playing at the same time.
XD
This movie is amazing!Elliott is a good actor
Lol
+MayMovieExpert
He's fantastic!
i wanted to kiss E.T. goodbye before Elliot closes that sci-fi coffin.
too much
No scene in movie history has ever made me happier than this one... except maybe the bicycle chase that follows. No matter how blue I'm feeling, these scenes wipe all of the bad thoughts out of my head.
It was so cute when E.T said E.t phone home, home, home, et phone, et phone home, Elliot Elliot!!!
When Elliot kept saying “ be quiet an he ET kept making noises it reminded me of me when drunk annoying everyone 🤣🤣
Lol I love when Elliott's "crying" in this scene keys Thinks he actually is!Nice acting Elliott!
That's like when Abraham "Grampa" Simpson did the same thing after Bart threw that party in the Simpsons episode The War Of The Simpsons.
The nice scientist melts my heart, I also love it when he says "would you like the flowers?" and Elliot just bursts into tears.
Elliot fake crying
I'm pushing 40 years old and this movie still makes me cry
Elliot: "He's alive! He's alive! Michael: Yey!

ET comes back in 2019
"ET PHONE HOOOOOOME"
Me: *Cries Uncontrollably*
Gosh Elliott's laugh is possibly one of the cutest things ever!
In 2:12, That sound that E.T makes is hilarious.
Scary
i remember when ET 1st came out, i was 11, that summer in 1982 was awesome, the whole world went ET crazy
Born in 1981, but still remember et stuff by the time I was a kid in pre school and kindergarten. I remember having an action figure or something like that and the et cereal.
I was born in '81, too! I had a bean-filled toy ET. I cried when the arm fell off because I dragged him around so much.
jay zacharias I was 11 too when E.T. came out & I remember the E.T. craze very well. It seemed to be a movie everybody wanted to see more then once. I loved this movie so much & still do.

Mom: "Elliot, why is our phone bill over $1 billion?"
Elliot: "Remember that alien I befriended?"
lol...Mom: “WHAT?!” 😂😂😂😂
"E.T....I love you..." BRB SOBBING
The part where Elliott yells out in joy during his fake crying when passing the flowers is hilarious.
And then his brother hitting his head on the ceiling, 😂.
I love ET. I fall to pieces when he comes back to life!
GO GO GO! YES!!!!!
Brings me back memories looking at this as a kid, I laugh every time Michaels jumped for joy and hit his head on the ceiling was hilarious. I still have this movie on VHS tape since I was 8 years old I can't believe ET the extra terrestrial movie is now 40 years old.
The way Michael hits his head at 2:48 gets me all the time
Back in 2017, the cinemark theater in my town was reshowing E.T. So for my 15th birthday we went to see it. And I’m glad to admit that when this scene started, I began to tear up. It’s actually somewhat rare for me to genuinely begin to cry while watching a movie
You are so right.30 years ago i was a young woman with a son and saw this movie several times.Everytime we had tears in our eyes. Now, my son is 41 years old and i....i am retired.Still love this movie. How clever they were to make ET that time.
"E.T. I Love you" brilliant dialogue! Brought me to tears! And in the magical Spielberg fashion brought our spirits back up
The quote at the beginning is the sweetest thing I’ve heard😌
When Elliot said he ‘s alive ! And Michael said Yay ! And then he hit his head 😂😂
When I was a kid back in the 80s I was absolutely obsessed with E.T. I saw this movie over 100 times in the 80s.
the funny parts was E.T. kept saying phone home and
Elliot says to his brother He's Alive! Yay! and hits his head! LOL!!!!!!
Going back to this as an adult, Elliot's line devastates me because it can also count as a child's description of what depression is like. There's a lot of kids out there in real life who should never feel like this, but do.
Awww Elliot really loved ET ❤️ This movie warms my heart
Something that I think gets overlooked in this scene is how effectively Henry Thomas plays this part. He says his lines as if he's trying to cover up his pain with a smile, and in doing so, makes the lines sound sadder than if he had been sobbing. In a way, his delivery creates a dramatic irony - E.T. was a creature of empathy and feeling, and at that moment, feeling was the one quality that Elliott COULD NOT experience, just at the moment when you'd think it would matter the most.
oh my god this is so adorable!
druyn
Ikr!
This scene just melts my heart away.
i saw this movie in 1982 when I was 7. I'm 37 now and this scene still makes me cry.
Your movies are so inspirational and heartwarming. And you have been a blessing to all of us especially the ones that grew up in the 80s. Thank you Steven Spielberg. In recent times I think back and remember how safe I was as a child. And I look now to uncertain times. With these children who lost their lives. Can you please bring the innocents of our youth and bring back E.T. Elliot should be grown and dealing with his adult hood. But his little girl should be the one to be contacted this time
This movie is perfect and this scene gets me every time.
I cried as a kid at this part some 30 years ago.
I cry as an adult at this part 30 years later.
My childhood this movie is my love
THIS MOVIE IS AWESOME, THIS MOVIES NEVER GET OLD! THEY ARE TIMELESS!!
2:39 is that a positive or negative cry? "would you like the flowers?"
"AHHHHHHHHAAAHHHHHH!!"
It's feign
1:42 When crying quickly turned to laughter. Thanks, Steve for wanting us to laugh instead cry.
Lol I still laugh at this ET is so excited about going home
I always cry every time when he dies but would he come back to life I always get so very happy this is one of my favorite Scene of the movie.
When I first saw the movie, I genuinely thought ET had died. This scene was a really pleasant surprise.
The most beautiful film of all time
The movie ET is all an all time favorite of alot of people like it was to me .

He was excited that he was going home.
such a perfect movie! I can't believe they even dared touch it!
I loved this scene so much..
I remember bawling my eyes out as a kid when I thought he died. Then gasping in joy when I saw the flowers bloom.
I love when the brother is so happy and than he hits his head :)
Hes so adorable!! I love him ❤😊
Would you like the flowers?
Wahhhhahahh
Awwwwe it’s so sad! ET is a friendly alien! How can people be scared of him? 🥰😭
so scared
Quand tu ressens la complicité que Les deux personnages ont dans le film c'est juste magistral comme émotion 😍💘💓🔥
This always makes me cry and it makes me cry harder now that I'm verEy close to my dog and have to put him down. The only difference is E.T. is revived. I wished my dog could miraculously get 100% better but this is reality. This movie along with the connection between a human and a dog shows how we all can be more loving and compassionate towards one another even in difficult times. Why act like a jerk when we're here for a short time?
I like your comment. It's so beautiful
Tahj Vader Thanks! :)

***** Funny that there's updates about this video because I'm watching E.T. on my television right now.
dolphinsatsunset1 I know that feeling but as time passes that pain goes away and all you have left are happy memories.
i like this part, sad to happiness with laughter, because et keeps saying "et phone home" many times loudly......
This was always my favorite part!
E.T. I Love You ! ;(
I just got the blu-ray and it's so great to see this wonderful in its original glory.
BEAUTIFUL SCENE !!!
When he hit his head used to crack me up 😂

All thanks to John Williams.👍🏾
Henry Thomas was a great actor in et he was fabulous in ey
What a special movie that lives in my heart forever. I remember being a little boy crying my eyes out just like now rewatching that scene. It doesn't take a man to have emotions, it takes a strong man to cry. Man I miss the 80s ..
Who’s cutting onions 😭
2:48
Michael hitting his head always made me wheeze as a child… and it still does to this day
😂😂😂
I tried looking up to see if it was scripted but I couldn't find anything
Imagine E.T voiced by Jim Carey he wakes up "GOT YOOOU!!!"
When his brother bang his head I always laugh 😂😂😂😂
He has such an amazing talent
1:29 E.T. phone *hooooome*
"Would you like the flowers?" 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Anyone who thumbed down doesn't have a heart. One of the greatest moments in movie history that makes you laugh and cry at the same time
This scene is so sweet and cute!
So Cute. Love E.T.!
I love it E. T . and Eliot I love it Eliot ' s family
Was he supposed to hit his head or was it just one of those amazing bits that happens by accident?
+Oneupgamer I always wondered that myself.
In the Spielberg movie that came out the year before, there is also an accident that makes you wonder whether or not it is intentional. I'm talking about the scene where Indiana Jones steals a horse. The horse stamps on one of the arabs, apparently.
I know the scene when Elliot yells after watching the flowers for the second time was an improvisation of Henry's. They laughed hard and said "we'll keep that!" XD
Lol
I don't think you can script something like that
I love this movie, but the I ending is awesome I had a tear in my eyes.
Tears of Joy afterwards and sadness turned to Happiness with Ets resurrection, Elliot saying he's gone some place else but he hasn't though
Lord have mercy ET non stop talking was to cute!!!
Henry Thomas is such a good actor
He was pretending to be sad because he didn't want the government agents knowing that E.T. was alive. If he had appeared happy they would have known something was amiss, since he had been sad only moments before.
When I watched this for the first time I felt pretty bad for Elliott because in the very beginning he was scared of E.T but then he gets used to him and teaches him a bunch of important stuff and then he almost dies in the end.
That moment in the theater, everybody was crying
