A movie I grew up with and a movie that will stick with me for the rest of my life. Still get goosebumps. Incredible work of art that will live on forever.
Here I am watching the whole video of the making of the film and one minute before it ends, and the scene comes on where E.T. says, "I'll be right here.:' and a tear rolled down my cheek. Now THAT is a powerful film and a character that you could actually believe and feel.
ET is an absolute classic it is a masterpiece I saw it was 16 I can relate my parents were divorced when I was 16 and my brother was 11 we saw ET 16 times in Metairie Louisiana to me it is Steven Spielberg's best movie
There is something about E.T. that hovers on its own amongst other Spielberg flicks. He was at his prime and had the freedom to do what he wanted. That's a whole vacation for a director and also the secret to great films being made with time, immersion and patience.
The soundtrack makes this movie even more special. Perfect cast, music, and you have a movie that still reaches your heart 40 years later...And thank you Steven for not making a sequel, because this film must remain untouched. So yes, "i'll be right here"...
A genius, that rare great type of genius, the unpretentious type, with a deep desire to be understood - not mistified. Like, he's speaking "from the waist down"!
So, the studio had a global hit on their hands, and of course wanted a SEQUEL! Spielberg ended up saying to them, that he didn’t have a strong enough vision for a sequel and that the first film ended perfectly, thus, should never be re-visited.. And schockingly the studio actually AGREED!!!?…. Amazing 🙏❤️
and he influenced several artists, even in the field of animation, especially spanish artist Enrique Gato, and i highly recommend to check out CAPTURE THE FLAG since that one has a steven spielberg feel/influence in a sense
I wonder whether this interview was filmed in January 2023, or if it was just uploaded on that day and it was filmed much earlier, because Spielberg signed off on the story for "E.T. - A Holiday Renunion" featuring E.T. and Henry Thomas, but he didn't mention it in this interview.
To you mr Spielberg I have seen a fan ever since you started this business. Most all the films are life changes of there times I hope you are in great health so you can set the trend of the continuation of next generations of movies on your reputation. Just for mine family in the 1970s with jaws I was alway scoundrel thinking of the open seas. But when you made E,T it was when how life is possible in other worlds. The next generation after mine they also became fans of your films now there teens who tell me the same you brought the wonders of what’s out there. So I can’t wait what’s the next generation what will they think ?.
There are still little ET's amongst us. Praying Mantis's! I've had some huge one's in my shrubs and one would land on my storm door sometimes looking at my cat. Sweet little insects. Look at you with curiosity turning their heads back and forth.
That glowing sphere reminds me of the same glowing sphere in Chocky's Challenge. No wonder Spielbeg got rights to Chocky the film. I hope he finishes the project.
It's because you saw ET alive in 1980 so did I I saw two of these creatures 6 ft tall in Oklahoma living and breathing Ets I was the one that had the same idea of having to eat cheese one evil easy and one good easy I lost the account that I wrote it on I'm James I'm related to the Vanderbilt but I'm not James Vanderbilt even though he's my cousin Iowa's 4 years old when I saw mine before the movie evening got announced 1980 I'm a psychic things to my grandma way back when getting abducted.

No. It had the right balance of comedy, mystery and eeriness. Too much comedy would have made it into a Disney movie, and it would probably come off as silly.
Thank God there's no sequel..I love him so much
There's no need for one

It’s 2024 and I just watched this movie for the first time and I was so moved by it. 40 yrs old and I got to feel like a kid again. Powerful
My first cinematic experience at the age of 4 in Korea. Too young to read subtitles, but the laughter and genuine tears remain the same even now.
It’s an absolute classic
His most beloved classic, that has stood the test of time and always will.👽
I cry every time I see the ending. It is incredibly beautiful!!!!!

ET is my favourite film absolutely loving it.❤
Et is the best movie ever
Miss when Spielberg made magical movies for everyone 😒
Melissa was a really pretty woman. May she rest in peace.
I watched this on VHS last night
Its masterpiece.
ET gave me reoccurring nightmares. But as an adult, I can see it for the masterpiece it is
I love how the comments are so wholesome while personally me as a kid I was petrified of E.T lol👁️👄👁️
I know one thing, anyone who says they can watch the ending to this movie without crying is a flat out liar!
Be a friend like ET and Elliott.
It's about Love and Redemption
Classic film. A shame about the audio in this being SO compressed it's been reduced by more than 200%.
If it wasn’t for close encounters, ET would never exist.
Bus what about the recent news about their existence
Don't forget Spielberg's parents' divorcing gave ET its emotional weight.
Spielberg beatiful director 😍😍😍🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
