I love how despite having 5 intelligence, the barbarian squad seem to be both very effective tacticians, but also very skillful combatants. They neutralize enemies in the most efficient and yet humorous manner available to them. They utilize stealth tactics, and attack as a cohesive unit.
Same I missed that as well, had no idea they had a use. If your in a heavy melle party that stay close together those would be powerful. Heck they were only level 5 and had 21 str. I also never knew thrown weapons were that strong. They killed a lot of things quickly with them.
@@Arthillis Throwing weapons are strong for them probably because they all took tavern brawler. Plus Barbs can throw as a bonus action so you get more attacks in a round.

Most of these decisions would have made me quite angry and put out. But for some reason I am feeling nothing but mad respect, honor, and privileged to witness these acts. It's conflicting. And simultaneously satisfying.
There exist a barbarian build solely dedicated to throwing weapons : search for thowmancer Karlach. to make it even more busted, I believe there is a Pyke early in the game tailored for this ( it has a Homing Weapon, so it comes back to the character after thrown )
I see they discovered the raw power of the Strength stat, specifically as it pertains to the Throw action. When you throw something, it deals its damage plus momentum damage, so if you simply drop a javelin onto someones head itll do far far more damage than if you stab someone with it. H aving 4 characters that all specialize in throwing weapons at enemies, with extra attack, is unbelievably powerful.
When Faerun needed them most, they returned. Then Faerun regretted it.
The whole point of the Cult of the Absolute was to contain these guys. It failed.
