Such a full package. But what is REALLY lacking (and should have been included on at least one of these re-issues) is liner notes for each song explaining EXACTLY who played what. I think Denny Laine contributed more instrumentally than what i lot of people think. After all, he did play rhythm & lead guitars, bass, piano & keyboards on other Wings material.
Enjoyed a positive review. I enjoyed both discs. I was happy getting a new copy of the cd with Helen Wheels on it. Bought the SHM Cd's from CDJAPAN. Underdubbed Picasso's Last Words was fabulous.
Hi Andrew, Great video, the Underdubbed mix is the Oct 14th mix by Geoff Emerick for orchestration by Tony Visconti on the 17th of October. The date 14th of October is important as it includes the material recorded in Lagos (minus Helen Wheels), the songs recorded in London and some overdubs done before October 14th. Helen Wheels was recorded in Lagos bit was never intended for the album and the final mix was completed before October 14 for a October 26 7" release.
great review of Band on the Run. The second disc or lp is worth price of admission. Great alternate takes and i loved Let Me Roll It. this vwersion should of been on the album. Very Plastic Ono Band and very primitive. Also, Paul did not screw up on the side binding of record . He replicated the American version of the album were it just says Paul Mccartney Band on the Run. It never said PM and Wings. I have an original of the lp. Keep up the great work and love to see you do George Harrison Gone Troppo review.
Can anyone tell me what Paul says at 4:20 on 'Mamunia'?.Sounds like "Its just like the same old sound.I like it"? I still cant make it out, even on this version.
The absence or presence of the Obi strip on these releases is yet another example of the cyncism that has crept in to Paul's releases in recent years. I didn't bother with the underdubs package but that's personal choice and I get it that others think it's great.
Like yourself I understand that everyones choice is different, may I be as bold to suggest at least check it out on Spotify for free. Thanks for watching
@@AndrewBrooks That's how I listened to them Andrew😁. For me they're inessential 'listen once or twice' tracks and I'd have much preferred the 'demo cassette' tracks created before the Lagos trip (as I'm sure you know, Paul made more of the rarity of the stolen cassette than was actually the fact). I understand that Denny Sewell at least has his copy still although it is unlikely that Paul doesn't have the master too, given how well curated his merest musical utterance has been.
Hi Andrew, Thank you for the analysis of the new Band On The Run / Under-Dubbed 50th Anniversary Editions Well spotted on your part regarding the omission of “Wings” on the double album version. A bit naughty that. I wonder who was behind that !!! I’ve got a similar collection like yours. I was lucky to receive an original copy for my birthday in 1974 when I was 11 years old !! The picture disc I remember getting a copy of that on import from Virgin records In Southampton in the early 1980’s My personal opinion on these new releases was that it was a shame that the UK version didn’t get a half speed master release too. I will probably get the two cd edition. I was always hoping for an archive release of London Town and Back To The Egg, but as time moves on I’m less hopeful now.

Helen Wheels was also on the Australian version. Thanks for the review, cheers
I loved it. Crystal clear and fresh.

The EMI 100 issue was released for the EMI centenary .
I did not know about Helen on wheels. Good to know Andrew.
The US copy ALWAYS had only McCartneys names on the spine and this is a copy of the US album which is why it does not contain the words AND WINGS
When I see that photo of Linda putting her hand on that young childs head it somehow makes me think of a faith healer
Sad to say
From the front cover, only two people still alive.
Paul & John Conteh
Great video. Very interesting. Band on the run is a magic Lp but not my prefer.
One of my favorite slbums. The songs still sound amazing. I never liked that poster.Thank you.

As I pointed out, the US copy had just Paul McCartney, the UK copy says Paul McCartney and Wings.
Coloured ones from France . I have a yellow one .

I shall take a listen
Yes I agree, just listened to it
I did know once. I've forgotten what the first bit is, but the next bit is " ...the Lagos sound, I like it"
On underdubbed, the guitars on Mamunia really sound like they are in the room with you.

BOTR the most successful? I suppose... but, I still prefer Ram over all of McCartney's post Beatles catalog...

Thanks for watching and I'm glad you enjoyed it. I don't remember where I got my pic disc from. I'm overall happy with the release.
Underwhelming cash grab.
Only if you decide to buy it again & again - like Bolan, Bowie, Slade, Sweet, Bing Crosbie etc!!
